dylanlegend Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 Mahrez is PFA player of the year, that alone means he now has 2/3 players marking him, this isn't necessarily a bad thing- we need to be clever and accept this and hopefully it will open up space for others He is also African player of the year and plays great for Algeria, he scored 2 the other day, I think we need to give him more freedom and play him behind the strikers with no defensive duties. He's our best player we are daft not to be utilising his abilities and basically building the team around him
orangecity23 Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 Came into this thread expecting it to about a sequel to the film Desperately Seeking Susan. Have to say I'm a bit disappointed now.

Number 6 Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Think we need to move him about the pitch a bit: left wing, right wing, behind striker(s). Be harder to keep 2 or 3 on him if we let him roam a bit.
Clever Fox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 It's nothing to do with pressure, It's about learning the Game. He has to learn that there are other ways of contributing without beating 2 or 3 men all the time. But part of the problem is he doesn't have enough support from behind and inside. Which is why we need to switch Albrighton over to the right to give him support. That would also allow Mark to switch play while Mahrez has drawn in two or 3 players to him.
foxy boxing Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 maybe if we gave him a free role to move around the pitch finding the space to run into and attack the defenders ,it is just that whoever is defending that side behind him will always be left vulnerable to other teams attacks. it is harder for him because people expect so much from him and now he is a targeted man who will always find himself being marked
FennecsForum Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 be careful leicesterians ! it's not mahrez's fault ! the coach should find the answer , the team is full of good players, they are waiting for their time to shine i bet chelsea or any other team will be the first in the line to buy mahrez this winter even if he ends benched for the rest of pr-exchange period slimani , hah , god , i think he's not going to do better , it's different , i think u just spent 35m on 6 or 7 goals per season wrong investment , period
filbertway Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Starting to think he needs to move infield behind the striker(s) now. Seems like he's finally been found out and needs something to freshen him up. His first touch is still insanely good, the way he brought down a ball that had gone into orbit on Saturday night was class. He's not much use to us if he's not contributing key passes, assists or goals though. It'd probably help him if we decided to try playing football as well though.

ScouseFox Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 and there's why you don't drop the player most capable of delivering and who has often produced the most magical moments in our history
Vardinio'sCat Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Riyad delivers again, thank god for that! I really liked the repeated switching he and Albrighton did, I think it gives both of them the option of going to the byline and seeking out Slim, and it mucks up any side specific 'stop Riyad' plans. The power on that free kick was truly awesome! And Algerian posters, speaking directly... Slim will be loved at LCFC, because you can see he has the heart of a lion, and a real worker. Riyad will always frustrate us, because his talent is so extreme that he can do things that few others can (his limit is so high), but he needs his confidence first. So thank you for these wonderous players, let's share this magical time.

MC Prussian Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 As an aside, maybe the signing of Slimani has brought back some of that much-needed creativity and spark for Mahrez. Having a national team member playing alongside you in the club, being able to use that connection, the common language and culture, surely must have given Mahrez some of his self-confidence, focus and sharpness back. Looking forward to Mahrez linking up with Slimani in the future. Those two could form as much a deadly duo as with the case of Mahrez and Vardy.
Argarath Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Slimani was ok yesterday, did not expect much from his debut but dont think he should have pushed that player. Imagine if he had collided with the goalkeeper?

Yes the comment is bizarre. I think Ranieri does not want to take the risk to show to Riyad he does not trust him for penalties... He knows that Riyad need "love" to play better.
