Chelsea.. Home.. League cup, up next...

Chelsea are playing Arsenal away next Saturday so they will probably also rest most of their first teamers. Problem is some of their reserves are bloody good players like Fabregas and Batshuayi and David Luiz.

I hope we see Kaputska and Musa play.

The difference this season is, we now have some reserves who would make other prems first teams so should let them worry about us,

Id go for this side if all available

Zieler

Hernandez - Weso - Huth - Chilwell

Gray - Mendy - Amartey - Kapusta

Okazaki

Musa

I really want to see Musa playing up front in the Vardy role as he did against Barca as he looked a handful. He has looked quite light-weight in other positions largely because he looks like a headless chicken (not his fault if he hasnt played the role). He will have plenty to offer us. Amartey plays as he is so raw in position and I get the feeling he will get better the more he plays. Mendy in fit would be a good partner because I think he plays more like Drinky than the Kante role. Id also keep Huth in as he hasnt been involved in International games or the season opener and looks like he is getting better by the game.

Amazingly, that side means no place for Schlupp, Ulloa, James or King. King I dont like in a 442 and prefer him if we went 451 and three central midfielders. Ulloa offers so much aerially but I want Musa to play the Vardy role for pace whilst Shlupp or Kapusta was a close decision I really want to see Kapusta in a City shirt over 90 mins as I want to see what the hype is all about as Im hearing plenty from some Polish buddies. James was class 18 months ago but I have no idea where he is in his fitness but I wouldnt be risking him against a game like this.

Ranieri better not rest Morgan, it would be a huge mistake. He can play every game, he is leaps and bounds above any other pro player. as long as he is captain and playing we won't crumble in these league cup games with the squad players added.

I agree with Stuhill that it would have been nice to get an easier draw and give our squad players more game time with a better chance of progression. I'd like to see Musa playing in the Vardy role and our young talented squad players like Chilwell, Kapustka and Gray get 90 mins.

                        Musa

                      Okazaki

Schlupp     Kapustka        King            Gray

Chilwell Wasilewski Benalouane Hernandez

                        Zieler

That still leaves Ulloa and Mendy (play him if fit) who aren't in this side and who didn't start today.

To think this is our second 11 is quite an amazing thought. When you've lived through the Kelly, Levein and Holloway years and seen the likes of Peter Canero, Danny Cadamarteri, Josh Low, Joe Hamill, Paul Henderson and Alan Rodgers all play regularly for the first team, it's actually quite incredible that we have a second team of that quality. Really brings home just how far we've come.

If Amartey is improving every game, it may be worth giving him some game time, providing it doesn't affect his fitness for Old Trafford.

Will be interesting to see what people think of Kappa and Elliot Moore if they play

Moore has impressed me when I have seen him but not so sure about Kappa but settling into a foreign country etc may take him a bit longer.....

You have a view Rama?

I'm just happy this is on TV in Italy. Although it might just be 90 minutes of watching managers gesticulating wildly.

If it is Okazaki and Musa up front (again I liked them together pre-season), I like Schlupp on the wing for added pace, and power. Also, given the fact we turned down good money for him, I would like to see him play.

I think it is important to keep a few first team players there in order to keep the structure. When Huth was suspended, Hernandez played alongside Morgan. It was obvious that there was no understanding & communication between these two compared to the well oiled partnership of Huth & Morgan.

My point is that if you play 11 players who dont gel because they have been thrown together then that will show and a team like Chelsea is not the kind of team to experiment against as they will punish you.

Keep a solid, well oiled back 4 and change around some players on the LH and RH of midfield and up front.

(My opinion)

Good point. I'd like to give non regulars a game, but if it's a shambles, then it won't help anyone. We could always sub off a few first teamers early in the second.

That team looks good to me. Though Ranieri said the other day that Kaputska isn't ready to play yet, whatever that means. It sounded like Ranieri doesn't quite trust Kapustka yet.

Shame, i would really like to see him given a chance on Tuesday. He's bagging goals for Poland; whats the worst that could happen!

Team prediction

                        Zieler

Hern..    Wasil..   Morgan    Chillwell

Grey       king      Armatey      Schlupp

                  Musa  ulloa

Not confident that will be the exact team however i feel it would be a good team in the circumstances.

Defence : Morgan to remain as he is the back bone and good to have an influential captain on the pitch.

Midfield : 2 pacey wide players which will allow Mahrez & Albrighton a much needed rest. Armatey will keep first team into the structure and also i feel he will benefit from match time. King is solid and will complete the task.

Up front : Not a massive fan of Ulloa however his height may be able to win some aerial balls for Musa to run onto with his pace. I dont feel Okazaki and Musa would be a good choice as they are both similar players and will be easily out muscled both in the air and on the ground.

(Just my opinion)

I think Chelsea will put a strong side out as like others have said they are not in Europe and Conte will be pissed they lost at home to Liverpool. Chelsea at full strength are good going forward but defensively awful like they showed against Liverpool. Cahill is bang average, Luiz is a joke of a player and Ivanovic has gone from being world class to average in 2 years. Even making changes I think we can beat them. Musa, Gray and Schlupp could ruin their defence

I'll be very interested in our midfield selection/performance. King will be there but I'd like to see Kaputska (sp?) too. Amartey could do with more match time I feel but I think a bit depends on Mendy's availability.

I reckon the  fact CR didn't use all subs on Saturday means we'll see pretty much a 2nd team,  except for the bench obviously.

I very much doubt we'll see Kanté.

We've rarely had a first team as good as that, let alone a second team. lol

Same for me, except Kaputska for Schlupp. I'd save Schlupp for a sub role in the wide open spaces of Old Trafford next weekend.

Give Amartey and Zieler more game time. Amartey has energy to burn. I'd also get Slimani on for the last half hour on Tuesday. Scoring again would give him real momentum going to OT. Uniteds defence would be very wary of him if he scored 3 in 2 going into that game.
