Wasyl's last appearance for us?

Anyone calling him a liability and a walking red card is being ridiculous - 70 odd games, 3 years and that's his first sending off - putting him about level with Wes in terms of appearances per red card. Besides, he dealt with batushyi fairly well I thought - only once Costa came on that he really started to struggle - against your burnleys, watfords and Sunderlands he's more than suitable. Not a top end prem CB but he's 36 and 4th choice - is anyone seriously expecting him to be?

Probably would have got away with it too if costa wasn't such a drama queen - from the back it just looked like a collision.

Well, to be honest he's gotten away with a few things in those three years with us.

The term "walking red card" still applies, because you simply never know what you get from him when he's on the pitch. He can be brilliant at times still and in other instances, he's just quickly exposed for his age and lack of speed by more skillful and youthful opposition players.

I love him but that's the second time I can think of where his flailing elbows have cost us a match. Arsenal away last season was equally as stupid.

I haven't rated him since we got promoted to the premier league. I think he's out of his depth and tonight just emphasised our need for a few new centre backs at the club. The fact that Ranieri chose to bring on Amartey over Benny shows you what he thinks of him.

Wasyl has always has a ridiculous challenge in him and once again he's cost us a win tonight. It's time for him to go I'm afraid.

Agree with this. We really need a young(ish) centre back to learn from Morgan/Huth. I'd like to see us go back in for Keane in January, I think?

My only gripe with Wasilweski last night, is that she shouldn't hit Costa harder haha.

I feel a little sorry for him because I do love him and he played a big part in the great escape. But he's long enough playing to know you won't get away with elbows to the head. Teams have caught on to the fact that quick close interplay on the edge of our box catches out our defenders as we don't have anyone quick enough in there. Maybe Amartey is a solution when Silva comes in January.

@Harry - LCFC Grow up mate. It's not about liking or disliking him. I love the guy but he's a walking red card and to be honest we've outgrown him.

There was nothing immature about what I said. There are clearly people who dislike him.

So looks like the blue rinse brigade have finally seen the light.

we would be in next round of cup if not for that however that smash on cuntsta was worth entry fee alone. Shame it wasn't kunte

Am I missing something here as he is in our prem and champs league squads isnt he? With Benny not being named in the squads Id say Wasil is still likely to feature for us. Centre Backs are likely to get bans and I get the feeling CR isnt totally convinced with Hernandez. I also dont think they would have given him a new one year deal in the summer if they didnt think he would have some part to play for us.

He most likely threatened to elbow the owners in the face if they didn't extend his contract. Don't believe the lies. :P

Let's be clear the forearm slam needs to be used more in modern football , was a wonderful takedown and really Should be appreciated for the wonderful execution of the move

lol he is obviously one of the lads and you can tell he is one of the characters of the squad but Id be surprised if they kept him on for morale! he will help Kupusta, he will also remind Huth how to bully strikers in case he wants to go soft but at 36 he has his limitations bless him.

Only brainless fans enjoy Wasilewski 'being a bit of an animal'. I really fail to see the funny side.

He let us down big time last night. Also cost us a point away at Arsenal

last season.

I hope I don't have to endure seeing him in a leicester shirt again. Thug.

Don't think he is any worse than Walsh, Taggart and Elliott for being a 'thug'. Yet these are classed a Leicester legends. Whilst I think he is somewhat reckless, his disciplinary record at Leicester is no worse than other central defenders.

The only one of above players you quote as a thug in reality was Steve Walsh. Walsh did used to let us down on ocassion, but was a fantastic player and servant. Wasilewski is a thug and not a very good player.

The guy is 100% committed but is over exuberance costs us , an example at the Emirates last season.

However he has performed well over his time here

I love this guys attitude BUT this shows our summer transfer activity was not as good as the club infer. We sure are that we tried for a defender & CM if either Huth or Danny were to pick up an injury we are in serious trouble.

Wow there's some serious over reactions going on here. Let's be honest the challenge was poor and the red card deserved. Did he lose us the game? maybe. if King had put that header away when he really should have done so then we might have won in any case but let's just blame Wasilewski. let's see the same level of scorn poured over the pathetic performances of say Schlupp or even the inability of Musa to look capable of scoring, or even the inept managerial performance and team selection.

That was his first red card for us and to those who say he's got away with it in the past then so what. Refs have seen him play and have not deemed his fouls serious enough to merit a red card. Plenty of other players play aggressively and don't get sent off, Costa for one. Wasilewski has never given less than 100% for us as far as I know, he was an important part of our promoted team and also played an important part in our great escape. In fact without one of those back three we may never have been in a position to stay in the league and therefore might not have been in the position we are now. He's undoubtedly been a great member of the squad and I seem to recall Pearson saying something along the lines if he had a squad of such players a team always had the chance of achieving something. It seems to me that playing for our club actually means something to him and matters to him.

He's at the end of his career and won't be anything but a bit part player for us now. I say cut him a little slack. He made a mistake but so have many others. Huth probably cost us three points against Hull for doing what? pulling someone's hair for f..k's sake. What can be more childish and pathetic than that but I don't recall the same level of vitriol I'm seeing here and he really is a red card waiting to happen.

Sorry no room for sentiment, his day is over just like all the other club stalwarts that have gone before, I would love him to get a testimonial though.

What a fitting way to go if so. Somehow avoiding a red card for 3 years and then lamping the biggest twat in football. Cheers Wasyl.

Best post I have read for ages!

Yes thank God we won the league by 10 points, because we needed that one point off the Gooners.
