Clever Fox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 There's no doubt CR got the line up wrong. It's to easy and a cop out to just select the same team as won against Burnley without analysing what Utd would bring to the game. Strength pace power and more importantly the ability to keep possession of the Ball. We needed to have extra men in the middle to break up their possession and keep them further away from our goal. But the midfield also needs to get at the opposition and hurry them into mistakes, We stood off them too much which always leads to chance created. Utd have good players and allowing them the space by standing off they will hurt you. .Having said that they scored from 3 Corners. As for us, quite simply we give the Ball away too easily. Our passing while getting better is still terrible. We're also playing too far apart which could be sign that the players are either tired or not fit enough. I think we are still missing our pre season. The only players that deserve any credit was Zielier Simpson and Drinkwater. Gray second half. I don't think Amartey done as badly as some believe as he was out numbered in midfield. Slimani looked very slow today and running around is clearly not his game. Musa would have been a better option today. At least we saved some respect second half, although Utd did back off us which made us look better. There's no doubt we need to sign proven quality in January to get our progress back on track.
Staffs Fox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 I actually thought the battle wasn't lost in midfield it was solely in defensive organisation. Losing three goals from set pieces is unforgivable especially the second. 4-4-2 isn't working though there seems to be a chasm between the strikers and midfield. Lest we forget we were by far the better team first 25mins. It was our failure to defend simply which cost us

For me they still aren't a top 4 team, if we could defend it would have been different. Basic errors . I'm glad Man City aren't up next right now expect 8 or 9 against them
dedlock Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 4 minutes ago, DelBoy73 said: That is a very positive result, because at last it is the end of 4-4-2 away. Talk of a game of two halves. 3 men in the middle is the way to go with the personnel we have at our disposal, as proved in the second half. Claudio will never have any valid excuse if he dares to use once again a two-men midfield, and i don't think he will ever try again that formation away from home, unless he signs a proper quality MD in January, but those are scarce in the market, hence why so few team are fool enough to play a 4-4-2 away... Why we didn't sign Gueye from Villa is a mystery.Maybe someting to do with Steve Walsh going to Everton. Mendy was said not to be a replacement for N'G. The late attempt to sign Silva from Sporting was too late. We need a quality midfielder. Against the top teams away we will need to play 3 in midfield. It's worth remembering though that, apart from the poor start at Hull, our away games were at Anfield and Old Trafford, never easy places to get a result.
crazyleicester Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 I`ll be saying this until the seasons end but that International Cup has a lot to answer for They shipped goals in that for fun and all of a sudden who half expect that we have to score 3 or 4 to win a game these days as the defence is all over the place. However, as much as our defence at times has lost organisation and discipline I want to blame them from the strikers. We are just not running enough. I dont know whether our increased games in the CL this season has filtered from the coaching staff to the players not to run as much or whether they are just being lazy. If it is instructions from the coaching team, knads to that. GET THEM ALL RUNNING. The strikers, the wide midfielders and put pressure on. STOP DEFENDING SO DEEP!!! The defenders were poor from set pieces today so they have some work to do but the strikers and midfielders with the exception of DD who ends up near both boxes all need to find last seasons energy levels. If they are buggered then thats why we have such a big squad. If they are too knackered to feature in the next game then use the squad!
foxes_rule1978 Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 We are 2 players short of a top team... we needed a quality right back, cmid and striker in the summer... We payed big for Slimani but that is all, we needed that cm and rb. Should have spent the money we have earnt to ensure we can continue to battle with the elite sides
BlueSi13 Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Mind blowing. As I said in the match thread. Can you imagine the scenes when Spurs blow us away 6 or 7? This is a crisis IMO. To lose football matches is one thing, to be outplayed is another, but to be absolutely humiliated without even competing four times this season alone is totally not acceptable and questions will rightly be raised to Ranieri. If I have an absolutely stellar performance review from work one year, the best I've ever had but then proceed to spend the next year dossing then guess what? I'm out on my ear. Loyalty stems from performance, so far this season there are plenty at the club who aren't at an acceptable level. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the owners' office at the moment...
RastaDog Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 I feel sorry for CR sometimes. There's so much expectation (and those waiting to say 'told you so') that he's inevitably on a hiding to nothing. Truth is, our squad isn't as deep as the 'big clubs' and so he isn't blessed with options (and, be fair, we don't know the signings the club tried to get in over summer). We've relied on every one of our guys playing to their very best, busting a gut for the team. If it doesn't happen for whatever reason then we quickly fall apart and get shown up, as has happened. With the sub's bench we have (particularly defenders), there's not a lot CR can do. We're a work in progress this season and we'll probably get dicked again. It hurts but we'll survive.
EastAnglianFox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 And am I right in thinking our next early lunch time kick off is away at Chelsea? Marvellous!!!

VLC86 Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 That 3rd goal was hands down the worst goal I have ever seen and I saw Vardys at Anfield.
ftfagos Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Play shit get banged. We were waiting all last season for the wheels to come off. Didn't happen but we knew they would eventually right? This is Leicester City. This is why last season was so magical.
Alan lcfc Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Bad news Chelsea game moved to Saturday, cos our cl game the following week,
Hammo Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Don't feel nearly so bad at the end than I did at halftime, basically because Ranieri reacted to the total embarrassment of the second quarter of the game - you all saw the defensive shambles, I don't need to elaborate - and showed a pragmatic side that suggests he has finally learnt his lesson and won't make the same foolish mistake of operating again with two idle, isolated strikers and a threadbare central midfield at Chelsea and Spurs. Plus, we 'won' the second half with that wonderful Gray strike. Honestly I was expecting a 6-0 hammering or worse, so let's hope that encouragement can be taken from the second 45 through to Tuesday. That's the big one for me. If we win that, we're flying again. I just hope Drinkwater has enough left in the tank for then. He was easily our best player (again) today. And finally.... Why have so many on here got it in for Jeff Schlupp? He helped us win the league ffs. And he did well today. Some on here seem to be suggesting he's another Akinbiyi. Shame on you.
ousefox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 442 wasn't the reason we conceded three dreadful corners. We actually weren't that bad in open play in both halves just disgusting set piece defending. Amartey is no better than King at this point.

There are many on here who enjoy slaughtering Schlupp. As far as I could see, Schlupp was our only player to beat a fullback, and play a superb ball across the box to King...who missed a complete sitter. Pretty much only Schlupp in our team could have created that chance. Which should have been a goal. The problem with Jeff is he does this in fits and bursts. His attention span seems to be about that of a goldfish.
Kendal Fox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, we only lost because Rooney didn't start....

Matt Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 So how are we all going to react to all the Man Utd glory boys that we know? We all know atleast one. I just find it amusing they were all Leicester fans last season, but no doubt they'll enjoy ramming this down our throats. I'm dreading Monday.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 In dire need of a new right back and a proper ball winner in midfield. When Mendy is back we have to look at a three men in the middle, in Amartey we're asking too much of a 21 year old to replace someone genuinely world class at what he did when we set up like we have been away against sides that know how to punish us. Not all doom and gloom but the lack of common sense and the basic errors being made in defence are a little alarming and it can't all stem from losing Kante. Quite a few need to get their heads down now.
m4DD0gg Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Hopefully this is enough to show CR we are not capable of 442 without the right players. Its such a shame we did not stump up the cash for Silva when we had the opportunity. Think we are perfectly safe as proof from last Saturday however a bottom half finish beckons.
st albans fox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 4-3-3 is really 4-5-1 away from home Not much point dressing it up as some wonderful formation that is the answer to things it just makes sense away at top sides

We cannot play 442 against the top teams this year. Simple. Second half we looked pretty comfortable defending, shut down the wide open passing lanes and had a platform to get into the game. Gray should start the Porto game, anything else would send a terrible message. Not against Porto. Albrighton and Mahrez have earned their spots in CL. Have you already forgotten the Brugge game?
Phube Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 3-5-2? We seem to need more help at set pieces?
