Guest Col city fan Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Right then...cards on the table... During today's match thread one or two people were posting we will find ourselves in a relegation battle this season. Away from home, we've conceded already an alarming amount of goals. And today, I see Sunderland are beating Palace, and Bournemouth are beating Everton... Knee-jerk or has this some substance? Personally, I think we'll be fine due to the Fortress KP... Even the better sides will struggle against us at home I think. So.. Relegation.....rubbish or potential reality? Discuss.....
Sir Shep Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 The way we put burnley aside its obvious that there are a lot more teams far worse than what we are. It just looks like the best we can hope for is top 10 really.
Sampson Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 We'll be fine. We've actually played really well at home and Our fixture list hasn't helped. Once we get into November and the hellish early season away fixtures we might actually be able to get some momentum going. Doesnt help that we play well and then have /Liverpool/ManUtd/Chelsea/Spurs away.
AlgerianFox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 You are playing for 40 pts...and I think you ll achieve just that.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Said at start of season we would get barely any points away from home at start due to run of games. Do think we'll remain tough to beat at home and I'm hoping later in the season we can climb the table after this run of Liverpool Utd Chelsea and Spurs games are done on the road
RastaDog Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Agreed, we'll be okay. We'll pick up the points needed to stay up. There are enough teams 'worse' than us. What we are witnessing is the widening gap in the EPL. We won't be the only team to be outplayed by the 'big clubs' but we'll do well enough in the 2nd tier.
The Guvnor Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Relegation probably not but we have to wise up playing away from home against the better sides.
Koke Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Bit of an overreaction. We will beat most of the bottom half fodder. The way we swept Burnley aside shows that we're at least a mid table side. I predict we will finish 8th-10th We got Chelsea and Tottenham away coming up so....don't panic.
Deucalion Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 It's a frustrating start made all the harder by the reasonable assumption that we are actually watching the best Leicester City team ever. I think as the season progresses the quality added over the summer will out and we will no longer be worrying about relegation. Last season was always going to be a hard act to follow. We will finish 6-7 I think.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Worried a little bit with us conceding 4 goals against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester Utd. And, although those three I've mentioned are excellent opposition, it's just not like us to concede that many in such a short space of time. However, we've shown we're capable of winning against the lower half teams so I say we will be fine, let's not forget we've still got a very good squad despite the calls for recruitment. A top ten finish would be great and we're capable of that.
foxinsocks Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 I think we are top half - - if we can solve some of the conundrums we can improve... we know it can be done.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 If we got a point at Hull we'd be on par with our fixtures so no worries from me. This season is about the CL for me.
adejo92 Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Certainly no relegation battle. Not the best start though thats for sure.
steveherbe Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Get used to it guys, we are mid-table, simple as that
Deucalion Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Should we forget the Champions of England stuff and judge this season based on the criteria we have judged other Premier League seasons, ie, we don't want to be relegated but top 10 and a cup run would be just super? Of course, we will never forget what happened last season and why should we? But should we consider it a wonderful one off and go back to more reasonable expectations? Judged through a prism of last season never happened, how does this season look?
TrentFox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Col! Seriously? We might have a bit of work to do sorting our act out defensively, but you honestly think this team won't get more points than Hull, Boro, Swansea, Baggies, Burnley, Bournemouth or Stoke? Really?
AKCJ Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 We'd have beaten Hull comfortably had we taken our chances, we've since drawn against Arsenal (without looking like losing), comfortably beaten Swansea, Brugge and Burnley and have lost due to sloppy defending and clinical finishing at Liverpool and United. Even the idea of relegation is ****ing daft. Top 10 was the target preseason and I still think we're on track.
TrentFox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 I wouldn't want to be in a real crisis with some of you people ! Talk about panic. Astonishing.
Raj Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Most folk would be more than happy with mid table. Add in The Champions League and lets see what we fo in the FA Cup... how can you complain at that? If you feel yourself getting depressed at that just rewind to May!!!!
Corky Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 It's a possibility but we've had three good games and three bad ones this season. Teams who do that don't tend to get dragged into the relegation battle. We have enough quality to be fine, the focus seemed to be there against Swansea and Burnley and I anticipate a far better game next Sunday.
Harry - LCFC Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 It's not the dreaded question, 'dreaded' implies there's something to fear and there isn't. 'Laughable' would have been a more suitable adjective.
Beliall Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 We'll be fine. Man U, Chelsea, Man C, Liverpool and Arsenal were all shite last year, and we had a good start, and kept momentum, This year we have had a tough start, played far improved versions of those clubs who now know they have to try to beat us if they want a result. Today though could easily have been 1-1 but for some shocking defending, Thats the only worry for me, the players don't seem to be as at it as before, like "we're the champs, we can beat you easy" kind of attitude. That will pass soon I hope, and we will get top 10.
