Coventry City in League Two can't actually happen can it.

Mind you the (what is looking near enough confirmed already) 47 year top six hoodoo most finally be over if they end up there. Could be what they need in the long run.

All down to poor ownership.

Sisu rarely had positive discussions with the club over the stadium matter. And, yes, all went downhill when they build it outside the city.

All started going downhill when they flogged highfield road.

I mean, we said this when they went down to League One.

The good news for them is that another relegation would be take an absolute catastrophe above even Cov's station for club self-destruction. I'm from Earl Shilton so this is(/was) the biggest rivalry for me, not to mention they're the only club to actually admit they're rivals unlike our bum-licking East Mids opposition.

This whole Cov meltdown would have been funny had it not been for the fact they're on a two decade decline and have absolutely no hope, faith or expectation that their pathetic mess of a club could even stave off relegation from League One. Had they been competitive in the Championship and sank to League Two in a matter of three seasons or so it would have been glorious but what enjoyment can I get from a club nearing a half century run of finishing mid-table or worse, the last time they achieved more than that my father was an infant. Metaphorically speaking, it's funny to see the mule get beaten, but no to see it's rotten carcass continue to receive the beating. It's almost overkill.

There's a highly acclaimed Russian-language film called 'Hard To Be A God', based on a novel on the same name. The whole premise of the film is that scientists from Earth find this planet, almost identical in makeup to Earth with a human populace which suppressed a Renaissance period and are stuck in an existence of perennial suffering and death and oppressed by a small aristocracy. That literally the closest non-footballing equivalent of Cov. The whole thing should be entertaining but it ultimately ends up a completely soul-crushing watch.

Or at least it would be, if it wasn't Cov lollollol

Well actually a lot weren't, a lot of people pointed out that they hadn't finished in the top six of any division for XX amount of years (whatever it was at the time) and the fact the League One can be a pitfall for big clubs, our fans under estimate it as Pearson did an excellent job of getting us out first time of asking. The "anyone could do it" line is thrown around far too much, there are plenty of ex Prem teams down there not finding it anywhere near as easy as we found it to get back out.

League Two on the other hand is a much easier division to gain promotion from. Although knowing Cov's luck they'd prolly finish 7th and win the play offs meaning the curse would still not have been lifted. lol

I've long stopped finding it funny, I actually thought they were getting closer to getting themselves back up than this happening.

To be fair that just adds to the entertainment value.

They've literally Derby'd it x10

Absolute shame really, putting rivalry aside. Big historic club in that state is sad to see. I'd rather play them every season than see them on the brink of relegation to League Two.

I do hope they recover.

I don't get why people feel sorry for them, they've got a lower league fan base and they're not that far off where they belong.

Tough shit if they get relegated, it happens.

plus they gave us A LOT of shit when we went down to League One.

Have we sung a song about Coventry since we got promoted?

Don't even think we've sung "We hate Forest, we hate Derby, who the **** are Coventry".

They've just been forgotten about. Good riddance IMO.

The total opposite for me.

This is hilarious, what a shambolic tinpot club. Won't be long till Nuneaton Borough is their big derby day

Plenty of local derbies before the decades out. Nuneaton, Bedworth, Stratford town, Racing Club Warwick. Bring it on.

It could easily of been us.

Their owners are absolutely shambolic. As well as under funding them for years, Can you imagine trying to play tough guy over rent only to have someone call your bluff and evict you... then continue to try and play tough guy over rent  in a small ground far away from home and then they  end up selling your home ground to a rugby union team and you have to start playing second fiddle to them!

I mean, can you imagine how you'd feel if that was us and our owners when they came along?

We are very fortunate indeed to have the owners we have. VERY.

Not sure whether to pity them or not. Probably would if it wasn't for their utterly moronic chav fans, I actually quite like the team itself but can't stand their fans.

On a side note what has happened to Tony Mowbray? Always seems a good manager but then somehow manages to stuff things up. He's dropping down the leagues like a stone.

Not sure how I feel about their plight really, it's all a bit meh. However I used to absolutely love an away day at Highfield Road, apart from one particular game we managed to make Peter Ndlovu look like Messi.

No sympathy, they had a great chance of promotion with good loan players last season and blew it. Their 2016 record is appalling.

I used to hate Coventry, I wouldn't say I feel sorry for them, far from it, but they're just irrelevant, I don't even take the piss anymore, I don't really know many Coventry fans anymore tbh.

I saw going down to League One and see clubs going down to League One as a chance of a fresh start, time to rebuild, perhaps i'm blinkered by our own experience, but it was quite possibly the best thing that ever happened to us, in terms of being able to move forward once again, if we hadn't have gone down it'd have been another season of mid-table obscurity/relegation battle in the Championship and I think it's fair to say we wouldn't be where we are now.

Of course you only want to be down there for 1 season, no longer, any longer and the rot sets in, Sheffield United and Coventry being prime examples.

If Coventry were to go down again to League Two, I just can see how it can been seen as a positive, that's too far, it'd be game over (If it's not already).
