why the ****ed did we bring on ulloa, that's the equivalent of waving a white flag

We wouldn't have stayed up without him and I'm not sure we'd have won the league without him. 20 odd goals for a player who hardly ever starts? Not bad really is it.

Anybody slagging off Mahrez or Shinji after today needs their eyes examined or head checked. Mahrez worked his arse off and we didn't look half as shit with Okazaki as we did without him.

Claudio Ranieri admitted that he got his team selection wrong after Premier League champions Leicester City played out a goalless draw at home to Southampton.

The Italian made just one change from Tuesday's 1-0 win over Porto in the Champions League, while Southampton - who had gone with seven new faces - created the better chances at the King Power Stadium.

I have to think when we play every three days and maybe at the end of the 22 days it was much better to give some rest to some players.

Southampton played a couple of days after us but they changed seven players and I changed just one, it's not enough but I'm very happy with a point for this reason.

The international break is here but how many players will rest with me? Six? Seven? The others go for their international matches and then they come back two or three days before Chelsea. Then after that we have the Champions League [against Copenhagen]. I have to think about it.

I recognise Southampton played better than us and they deserved to win. We created some chances but they created more than us.

Kasper Schmeichel made two or three great saves, they hit the post and for us one point is OK.

  • I think the Tinkerman returneth

And Burnley just got mugged

I remember the days when we played fast attacking football, pressing the opposition defence in numbers and other teams couldnt live with us. Mmm happy times

I commented on the pre-match thread that some players are in need of a break, but because of lack of quality in depth, I couldn't see it. All I could see was 4-4-2, same as usual...and I was right.

That leads me to ask the question, what have we invested our money in on a playing staff side of things?

Desperate for a strong CB, so Wes and Huth can rest up more often. Desperate for a CM so Danny can have a rest.

Formation exposed yet again. It was static and that's the probably the only way to describe the movement today.

We cant play 4-4-2 without Okazaki starting there's no link between the midfield and strikers. And most of the first half was spent with Danny asking where his next pass should go.

Vardy looks well off it, for what reason I don't know but I think he needs to be left out for a bit to try and find a way to re-ignite that energy. Claudio has got to drop the 4-4-2. Let go of last season and change things because it really isn't working, we've been well beaten twice and it's only a matter of time before someone well and truly batters us.....

I want us to try something different in the next game, we may as well because what we're currently doing isn't working.

majority of those were then he was a starter, he only had a major impact in a game coming from the bench last year against Norwich. The rest, he's the go to sub to consolidate ourselves in a winning position and give us another man for defending corners, he's not someone to bring on to grab a winner.

A point and a clean sheet are more than we probably deserved after a shabby performance in which our decision-making and passing in the final third was consistently rushed, imprecise and unproductive.

We generally defended well. I thought Morgan made some particularly decisive contributions and was my MotM. Schmeichel's handling was excellent, which is more than you can say about his kicking.

Albrighton was a waste of space yet again. He just doesn't deserve his place any more. And as for Vardy, his touch, movement and link up play were all dismal. That was his worst performance in ages. Mahrez is still our only creative threat, so why don't they give him the ball more? Drinkwater's passing was poor today but he was due an off day. Amartey works hard but his positional sense is suspect and he doesn't give the impression that controlling a football comes naturally to him.

We shouldn't be displeased with the point. Southampton are a decent side and were the better team today. But too many of our players underperformed, and not for the first time this season, and that's the worry. Claudio has a lot to fix. Gray in for Albrighton should be the first step.

Oh yeah the other thing some clown said behind me today, when Slimani wasn't pressing:

"he should be running himself into the ****ing ground. I would for £25 grand a week!!"

i didnt dare tell him. He was angry enough.

We look more comfortable going backwards than forwards which speaks volumes. Slimani still looks a yard off pace for me, he isnt a target man wins 30% of his high balls which is not effective as that tag. He can however clearly score with his head- different things. Vardy looks like hes been caught up in his own press, why isnt Musa (vardy role replacement) not being utilised on bench?

We are in danger of being left behind, football evolves - we havent.

Not a classic but happy with the point in the end as we were second best in many areas. A massive hole behind the striker(s) that gives opposition defence midfielders so much time and space pushing us deeper and deeper.

I really like Slimani but he and Vardy don't look the right combo against better sides. Vardy in particular looks very short of confidence and form, I kinda hope Southgate leaves him out.

As for Allbrughton as I said in the match ratings for the Porto game we might as well play a left back at left midfield for all he does in attacking areas. He now needs to spend the international break learning to cross with both feet, if not then he needs leaving out.

Another point and a clean sheet is positive. Bring on Chelsea in a couple of weeks.

Interesting Ranieri said this. I was expecting him to say he was pleased with the clean sheet and that we were unlucky with our chances. But this means he too knows we aren't clicking.

i dont think the great Claudio Ranieri could fool anyone with that as we only had one shot on target

It was a rather painful affair today, with mostly dull and uninspired football presented on both sides. The King Power Stadium hosted a match between two equally unproductive and uncreative teams, with many passes going astray, a lack of focus and interest in football in general evident from the start. Effort going forward there was little on our side, Slimani worked for two because Vardy just couldn't be bothered for most part. The amount of foolish long balls out of our half straight back into the feet of a Southampton player were a shocking side product of our inability to create clear-cut chances. And when we had the chance, either Vardy or Slimani blew it or Mahrez put it way past the left goal post of Fraser Forster.

Albrighton's crosses rarely found their designated target, Morgan came up with yet another handful of blunders and dared way too much going forward, our back four is susceptible to breaking up the straight defensive line, people get caught out of position, Amartey for me blew hot and cold with his tackling and directional sense and him and Drinkwater gave away so many silly passes that you have to wonder whether our team was purposefully told to focus on the Champions League and disregard the domestic competition(s).

The lack of effort as opposed to Porto at home was quite obvious. Is it down to fatigue? Is it down to a lack of motivation? Is it the new contracts? I suppose it's a combination of many factors coming together. I can live with keeping a clean sheet, but the way it was attained today leaves me behind in a rather sad state of mind. I guess we all want this team to play better and the hope remains that at some point in the very near future, they manage to regain the hunger shown last season. I'm aware that we can't or won't compete for the title again, but at least put in some effort and repay the faith and support shown by the home fans.

I think that Vardy ought to go back to wearing that blue bandage thingy. Every since he's given up on that, his form has dipped. That was the equivalent of Samson's long hair!

Forget the Champions League and winning the EPL last year.  Carry on the way we are and will have a relegation fight on our hands.

Joke of a game.

I wonder if we will break another record by being the first team to get relegated after winning the EPL the previous season before?

Seriously lol he has just signed a new long term contract with a guaranteed big pay off if he gets sacked.

I like Ranieri but I never believed he was ever a good coach; rigid style of play, poor player rotation and substitution, reactive type manager, etc. I just keep noticing he never talks game plan, strategies, etc. but constantly blabbers about nothing ( "I want consistency, "I talked to Mahrez and Slimani and asked them to do something against Porto", "the players are tired", etc. - although they only played 2 CL games so far, I don't believe LCFC will keep him beyond this year. He should consider himself very fortunate to have come at Leicester at the right time and consequently took the credit for the team's performance. In my opinion, 4 players should be on the bench and called upon only when absolutely necessary (Albrighton, Vardy, Simpson and Wes Morgan) and replace them with Hernandez, Demarai, Okazaki and Chilwell.

Woeful... Not sure what else to say, it could be a lot... But I'll give people a chance to sort their heads out.

Wow! If you say it was woeful, it was.....

Im afraid how we are playing we are looking like a mid table side at best. The leading pack are running away at present. Although it was good to see Man City lose today...albeit to bloody Tottenham.

Liverpool and Arsenal looking especially strong and Pochettino looks to have done wonders at Spurs.

In the league, we look to have run out of ideas at the moment.

I think the success or failure of Mendy will determine whether he has what it takes to recognise the problem (departure of Kante) and to find a solution. If Mendy is the real deal in this respect, Ranieri is a genius. If not, his failures in the transfer market  - Benalouane, Inler, possibly Musa depending on how he progresses or regresses - will show his weaknesses.
