whetstonefox Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 While we're still in the champions league he needs to rotate the team, probably at least 2 players coming in, maybe even 3 changes. It was poor today, Southampton will be top 10 again this season though so some perspective needed. Think CR needs the next week or so to figure how he gets us firing again. On paper we look top 10 but feels at the moment like an 11-15th type team.
ChownLC Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Anyone else think we actually look better when Vardy comes off? We stop playing the long ball and actually try and pass the ball around.
TJB-fox Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Notice southamptons rotation for Thursday's game and today's game. We need to do that. We haven't bought players like Musa Kapustka Hernandez etc for no reason. Use them!
adejo92 Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 It seems like the players are that excited for champions league that they have lost interest in the PL. We play great in CL but PL has been far from convincing so far.

Today was terrible, utterly and totally terrible...We're so predictable now it's untrue and if we come up against a dynamic side we're in trouble. Big changes needed, or we're in big trouble. How can people seriously say that they think WINNING THE LEAGUE was down to a decent run at the end of the previous season. Come on, you know when you posted this you were talking rubbish didnt you.
Dan Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 5 hours ago, Callabinho said: Formation exposed yet again. It was static and that's the probably the only way to describe the movement today. We cant play 4-4-2 without Okazaki starting there's no link between the midfield and strikers. And most of the first half was spent with Danny asking where his next pass should go. Vardy looks well off it, for what reason I don't know but I think he needs to be left out for a bit to try and find a way to re-ignite that energy. Claudio has got to drop the 4-4-2. Let go of last season and change things because it really isn't working, we've been well beaten twice and it's only a matter of time before someone well and truly batters us..... I want us to try something different in the next game, we may as well because what we're currently doing isn't working. Have a horrible feeling that day is October 29th. A fired up Spurs against a shaky, static Leicester. I'm absolutely shitting myself over that one I've got to be honest.

ozleicester Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 We are a better side with Shinji playing. Weve got to stop the "over the top long ball" to Vardy, last year we played cutting, through balls, not long balls. Weve got to accept that we are now hunted, teams focus on us and how we play. Its gonna be a tough year.

cruzFOX Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 Bloody hell I wasn't expecting that performance when I clambered out of bed at 6am this morning! wasnt even live on tv (online only) here in America. anyway, I've read everyone's reaction and agree with them all except for the few rediculous ones calling for ranieri's head. All we can do is hope Ranieri and the coaching staff see what we are seeing and are urgently trying to fix it. It's frustrating as hell to see our boys struggle like this especially at home Of all places. It's like we're sleep walking through some of these games. If the spanking against Liverpool & manure wasn't enough warning with Chelsea, Spurs, man city & arsenal on the horizon the players better wake up! All these teams will have not forgotten what we did to them last season and will come at us with all guns blazing! the team needs inspiration quickly and simply can't rely on just drinkwater. Oh what I would do to have cambiasso back for another season lol. COYF for FS!!!

K1FOX Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 2nd 0-0 draw this season. Positive is we aren't conceding at home against good teams even when struggling to break them down.

Ted Maul Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 It's weird, I obviously didn't expect anything like the form we showed last season, but I thought it was be uncontrollable elements that made it that way- other teams being better, players dipping out of form, injuries etc. As it is, it's the stuff we can actually control which is letting us down- tactics and work rate.
los dedos Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 25 minutes ago, NeilLCFC said: This. Players need to have a meeting to sort tactics out like they did with Pearson.

les-tah Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 at the moment id actually have shinji in and Vardy on the bench.. That means Slimani in the sort of 9 position. He still looks good.
CosbehFox Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 10 hours ago, Twitcher said: Worrying then that we were hanging on at the end against a "bang average" side. I'm not having Porto are bang average. They won yesterday 4-0 and went top of their domestic league. They aren't crap, just like Southampton aren't crap. Crap is losing 4-0, yesterday wasn't crap. Yesterday in some ways reminded me of plenty Championship midweek games we had down the KP. Both teams looking tired after playing so many games and the difference was normally some quality by one of our players. 4-4-2 with Slimani and Vardy will be difficult when teams play an anchor midfielder like Saints did yesterday. We were playing twenty yards deeper out of tiredness and also the defensive confidence isn't there domestically. Thankfully Ranieri is a guy who can spot a fault and he's already stated he's gonna have to mix up selection.
kingcarr21 Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 Not the best of performances but lets not forget that Southampton are a decent team in good form. What annoyed me the most was the constant hitting it up to Vardy. Van Dijk and Fonte were laughing all day long at that. Forster barely had anything to do. At least Ranieri after the game admitted he got it wrong and should have rotated the squad more. Not sure if he recognised though that the problem wasn't so much the personnel but the lack of a game change. We seriously need to look into another strategy away from 4-4-2. We have a good squad and we dont utilise it as we should. Would a 4-2-3-1 work that gets Musa involved in the game. Ranieri has to use this international break to try and work out an additional way of playing. Also we are now playing 4-4-2 without the workrate of Kante and Okazaki. So not only are we sticking with 4-4-2 but its a different 4-4-2. Amartey and Slimani are doing quite well but its still a new look 4-4-2 that will need time to gel. I'm not surprised in the slightest where we are in the table. For me though i'm not bothered about the league, as long as we aren't relegated i want us to go for the Champions League.
foxy boxing Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 really poor performance, o.k the players were tired but that should not be an excuse. Claudio has admitted that he should have changed things and freshened the side up a bit maybe should have started with okazaki with his pace and enthusiasm and brought in kapustka and maybe musa just to try something new to see if it works. we can't play the same eleven week in week out like we did last season, I think he finds it hard to trust players to do a job outside the natural eleven but he is going to have to and maybe give mahrez a rest. I know at some point we will lose players to the Africans cup of nations so he will be forced to change things but it needs happening now
one F in Fox Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 I'd like to know which one of our shots was the 1 on target? Was it Drinkwaters shot from outside the box or Vardys or Slimanis blocked shots from Van Djiks backpass?
bfox Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 Still feel we are overly cautious in the middle of the park, drinky tends to either hoof one forward or pinball it between himself and the back 4 for 3minutes, normally going for the latter. Shows the lack of movement in front of him. Amartey and himself are too alike for me, one needs to be more attack minded and willing to beat a man. Yesterday just seemed a little off pace and with a little lack of confidence. Southampton were good mind. Maybe we play a little too wide?
