Russell sprout Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 We've looked quite solid defensively at home, clearly away there's an issue but let's look at the opposition, i think some are taking this way overboard by suggesting we call up a youth team player or someone who hasn't even played a league game for us, let's be real, on paper the results are that of the lcfc we expect, only because of last seasons antics are folk expecting us to go these places and get results, im as gutted as the rest but let's have a real sense of realistic expectation on here rather than bemoaning the very players that created history and in doing so are thinking we're bigger and better than we actual are

Mezeker Posted 17 October 2016 Posted 17 October 2016 I remember being laughed at when i suggested we really needed Ashley Williams in the squad. But i also remember saying in the summer that the sooner Ranieri changes the system without Kante the better we would do and being laughed at.

My point was, despite winning the league, it's weird for me that we didn't push harder for young legs in that defence. We've played a high line at times as well which makes no sense as there is no pace. I guess the club thought it would be business as usual with a solid defence and I thought so too.

The amount of (and i hate to say this word) cheating that went on last year by Huth alone was insane. To re-train players that have been coached a specific way for years and years i dont think can be reversed.

If not look who Everton are looking at and try and hijack the deal .... If we are still struggling I would get Curtis Davies from Hull ... they are playing sh1t at the moment (the team not him) and he's a bit pissed off ... they look like relegation fodder. He is good in the air, confident on the ball and has good energy ... he's also their captain so has good leadership skills. Defo worth a punt imo.

Our defence needed upgrading in the summer, Morgan should have been replaced. Instead we stood still and were not ruthless enough. The opposition had loads of corners last season but we were switched on. I don't recall kante clearing many of them? we are simply not concentrating like we did last season. Whatever the reasons, we will come to terms with it at some point. Probably as the fixtures get a little easier. (Though it was defending corners at hull in the first half which was also our undoing there so it isn't purely the concentration required at the big teams which has been found wanting)

I think Ranieri is here for as long as we are in the Champions League, no matter how bad we are in the Premier League. If we go out at the last 16 or quarters of Europe and we are still deep in the bottom half of the table and looking awful then they will sack him. Their 3 year plan to get top 7 is almost up. Last seasons success doesn't alter that. I think they've already shown us how ruthless they can be.
