Personally I'm so much more reassured with King in the side over Amartey. The former isn't as athletic or powerful but has a much better footballing brain imo. King knows generally where to be such that he helps to cover the back four more effectively than Amartey. And of course King actually gets into the oppositions penalty area...crucial for a central midfielder in a 442.

I didn't feel very reassured against Hull when King started.

Other than against the big boys Amartey has been absolutely fine, in fact very good in two or three. I think we can all agree he's not up to it against the best yet, but I've had no issues with him in the other games.

I must have been the only one who thought he was average.

I would be in agreement with you! I'd given him a 7/10. Drinkwater would be my MOTM with a 7.5. Drinky needlessly hoofed it a bit too much for my liking but was also responsible for our best moments as he's the only one that really gets on the ball and plays.

King was solid though and could be a legitimate option in Europe. I think King does better in slower paced matches. He's got a good range of passing and is an intelligent player. I often think that in the Premier League, the game can pass him by. Still love him to bits, but there is a reason why Kante and Drinkwater started pretty much every game ahead of him last season.

I have huge respect for Andy King, but have always viewed him as being a squad player. However yesterday he was my man of the match, just over Drinky. King was assured, and in control, with brilliant positional play in defense, intelligent with his movement up front, as strong and tireless with his work rate as I have ever seen the guy. Great game Andy.

What about a 4-1-4-1 set up, or 4-1-2-3. Back four, plus Amartey holding in front of Huth and Morgan, with Drinky and King in a central midfield role higher up the park and Vardy, Mahrez and Slimani sharing the duties as the attacking three, combined with the necessary defensive duties as well.

No. I thought he was average too. He is average. His length of time with us and our love of his loyalty brings out many a blue tinted spectacle. He only passes sideways or backwards safely. Some fans may be content with that. Players who are above average can make the easy passes and see other passes to make and they make a massive difference. Hope we get Adrien Silva in. I have no time for sentiment and am all for improving our team and its overall capabilities on match day. I can't imagine any coach/fan of any of the other Champions League clubs or of any of the challenging clubs for the league this season looking at him play and saying, 'Now there's a player who would improve us'.

He was great throughout. Professional, composed and reliable. For me he needs implementing into the PL side, at least away from home.

He was the best of a lacklustre bunch last night, the thing that made him stand out was his defensive work, on the ball he was typical Andy King, keep it simple.

No doubt he will go missing again soon though, then all the idiots will come out and say he isn't good enough.

King has his limitations, playing him against teams like last night, and lower end, less physical premier league sides, is going to be where he needs using.

I personally wouldn't play him against teams around the top of premier league or physically teams, as I believe he's not good enough, but as a squad player he's just ok, but as the squad improves, he will drop down the pecking order.

Foxestalk is biopolar. King has one good game and he's a Leicester legend, he has one bad one and he's shite and been here about 4 years too long etc.

As usual, the reality is somewhere in the middle. Can produce good displays, not good enough to be a regular starter, probably best when trying to keep the ball to close the game down.

I thought he had a decent game last night, not outstanding but in general kept things ticking over and Drinkwater was not as pressured in doing all the work as he has been recently.

Never ever in a 4 man midfield though

Wasn't a great performance from King but not bad at all.

what I don't understand though if fans behind me criticising every single mistake he made, after 10 bloody minutes!? They guy has been loyal with us for years and hasn't had much game time recently yet all I heard near the beginning was people slating King and also editing the words in his song to "gets the ball, does fvck all" just no need for it

And the Interplanetary Cup the year after against the Mars Rovers, FC Phoebe Regio of Venus and Aristoxenes Mercury ("the Aristocrats"). There's already an uproar about Venus hosting it, as they haven't figured out a way to get the players there in time and the air conditioning in the stadiums (400C, no oxygen) is going to be very costly

I'll get my coat

He seems to not know when to either help the defending side of midfield or the attacking side of it hence swaying about a bit and being a 'general' helper to Drinkwater.

But wouldn't have him over Drinkwater tbh.

Can't imagine the thought of Drinkwater being injured and Amartey and King in control of midfield..

Community Shield (if that counts)

And probably Europa League (but hopefully not!)

Probably?

We finish third now I'll be amazed.

I forgot how it worked and thought if you get dumped out in the next stage you go into the Europa League. Gah.

Noooo

Just group stage and even then only 3rd place. Once it's knockout bye bye Europe if we lose.

There the problem. Who WOULD you play? If you don't want to play King against the 'top teams', we'd have to play Amartey.

And 13 goals in 4 games ain't confidence inspiring.
