If you don't want to play King against the 'top teams', we'd have to play Amartey. And 13 goals in 4 games ain't confidence inspiring. There is the problem col, we didn't get the right balance in the window. The goals conceded cannot be put just at amartey door, he's a young kid being thrown in at the deep end, after gaining no experience last season due to kante form, the goals conceded are down to the team performing poorly, and defenders not doing their jobs. With Mendy being out, who in time could/ should be the better of the 3 we are talking about, when fit, we have little or no options. In January a midfielder has to be a priority, as Mendy having bone removed from his ankle, he's not going to be match fit until Feb at least. Amartey should be introduced slowly, as he's 21 and cannot be expected to be consistent every week, and king is a squad player, who isn't good enough to demand a first team place, week in, week out, not if we want to compete mid/ top half of the table. A decent midfielder in Jan is a must.
sdb Posted 19 October 2016 Posted 19 October 2016 Thought he grew as the game went on but to be honest, first 30-40 mins I though it was classic vanishing act stuff.
foxes21 Posted 19 October 2016 Posted 19 October 2016 Liverpool, United & Chelsea away, we suffered because we had no CAM tracking back. Granted we had Okazaki vs Liverpool, but he was already knackered due to the international break. We tried to keep two up top at all times and it didn't work. Compare that to last night, Slimani was tracking back quite well, letting Drinkwater/King hold their position. When Slimani began to tire, Okazaki came on and stopped the middle being over run.
Hewett Posted 20 October 2016 Posted 20 October 2016 I certainly don't think King was MOTM by any stretch. I honestly don't understand why he is praised so much. He's a squad player at best, I see others saying he played well - yes he came into the game in the 2nd half by playing well to HIS standards - not at say Drinkys, Amarteys; James' standard. Considering he played 90 minutes as a CM, count how many tackles and forwaded passes he made tuesday. You may only need one hand. The more games King plays in midfield, the more we seem to struggle. For the sake of himself he probably needs a run of games in the championship. I'm all for priase where it's due, but to compete we need stronger players I'm afraid.
foxy boxing Posted 20 October 2016 Posted 20 October 2016 love the guy, he's been with us through thick and thin but let's be honest he is limited in his abilities and is not a regular starter in our team. he doesn't read the game like say drinkwater can and be a liability at times. likes to get forward and has done that well in the past but we need someone who is defensively sound in that position and i am afraid he isn't
Hitesh Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 Anyone know if his injury looked serious or not?
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 Great today, composed on the ball, found space and attacked/defended well. Hopefully his injury isn't too serious, as for me he still plays a real role in this squad for us. The benefit of having King in there is, he's played with Drinkwater many times before so they share a good understanding of each other's game. They form a good pairing.
Raj Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 Solid. Considering his lack of game play perhaps over a whole season the way he can slot back in is great credit to the man.

GaelicFox Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 First 25 were poor but after that he grew in confidence and put in a classic performance for rest of the game maybe a few more starts and we could have the real kingy back sinji makes it possible to play king and drinks together
Charl91 Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 Obviously no Kante, but our midfield looked a little more reliable with him in it. Him and Drinkwater dominated today.

lcfc81 Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 what a man! Fitted in really well in the last 2 games. Really has been through it all with us!

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 King and Drinky can't play together.... Was excellent again today. can go missing but some of his tracking back and cleaning up was superb today. Think he's now stolen that slot next to Drinkwater
Bluetintedspecs Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 Kingy was top notch, Shinjis outstanding performance helped so many on the team!
Chico1958 Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 He's Welsh so I see no fault in a man who hasn't jumped ship when he could've. He's been with both teams through thick and thin. He'll never be Kante, but he will give you all that his ability allows him for the Team. Shinji helped out today.
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 Kept the ball moving today, most of the time moving forward with one touch passes, class.
RGFox Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 Best performance by kingy in a long time. I do think having shinji ahead of them was a masterstroke and enabled him to be really involved throughout the match.
HoustonFox Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 Hope he is ok. I know some saying tactical but even in the couple of mins Amartey was on there was a big difference. His passing today was key, as was his stamina. Shinji playing and providing a link really helped too.
Wymsey Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 It seems whenever some people doubt him, he has always come up with decent performances and praise after. Just keeps his head down and prodding along. Hence is a reliable player to call upon in busy periods.
Fox 4 Life Posted 22 October 2016 Posted 22 October 2016 He allowed drinky to play with alot more freedom today and did a great job defensively. Hope he's ok for spurs as Amartey has proven he can't handle the big games
foxile5 Posted 23 October 2016 Posted 23 October 2016 He's solid. Always puts his all in. Decent work the ball at his feet. The man is a Leicester hero. 3 leagues in eight years. 50+ goals. Long live the King.
foxy boxing Posted 23 October 2016 Posted 23 October 2016 Had a good game, if he can show it week in week out and be more consistent and work on his defensive game then he can be a great player.has a lot of doubters because he never does the spectacular but if he remains consistent and brings other players into the game and works on getting fron defence to attack quickly then will have another good season for us
