Second place up for grabs still we have a responsibility to put out a side. Genuine question: So long as we're playing players who are registered in our CL squad, does it even matter? Can they enforce anything? I'm baffled as to how we could be punished for not fielding our strongest squad. Absolutely nonsensical if we can end up in a spot of bother for playing young lads and backup players. Somebody PLEASE tell me that there are no rules on who can and can't play? This seems ridiculous.

Copenhagen and Porto should have got themselves into a position where they don't need to rely on other results. We gave them both plenty of chance against us to be fair.

I dare say you would be preying the group winners put out the strongest team possible to give us a chance. Just as they did against us.

It's not our fault they have less points than us.

Well they would have earned the right (as we have) to play whoever they like, happy in the fact that they've already qualified as group leaders. Just a difference of opinion I guess, but frankly I think it's absurd.

If, for example, we had rested some players against Copenhagen at home, due to our dire position in the Premier League, would anyone have complained? Why is it different once we have qualified?

Wymsey Posted 1 December 2016 Posted 1 December 2016 Confident he'll do a good job, got much more steel in him than King. Badly need a controlling-midfielder back to settle things.

davieG Posted 1 December 2016 Posted 1 December 2016 Claudio Ranieri says Nampalys Mendy is making good progress, as the midfielder continues his recovery from an ankle problem. Mendy, 24, picked up an injury while on debut for the Foxes in August against Arsenal as has not featured since then. But Ranieri has revealed that the Frenchman, alongside left back Ben Chilwell, has trained well all week as the Foxes prepare to take on Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday. “Everybody is available and they have trained very well,” Ranieri told the media ahead of the fixture at the Stadium of Light. “We know it’s an important match for us and for them and we are ready. “[Nampalys] Mendy, Ben Chilwell and everybody else have come back to the first team and they have trained all week. They are available. Of course they haven’t played 90 minutes, but they’re okay. “I think Mendy is very close because now he’s trained with one week without pain and he’s good. Now he needs to take more time to improve his fitness but he’s good. “He’s ready and works with us. He made all the training sessions pain free this week. That is good. He lacks stamina because it’s not possible 90 minutes, but he’s getting better. Then, I’ll decide which players come with me in the first XI and the bench.” Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel remains sidelined with a hand injury, but Ranieri is hoping the Denmark international can make a return this month. “Only Kasper [is out],” added Ranieri. “He is working normal in the training session separately, but he’s okay. “His return depends on him. I hope before Christmas Day he’s ready – that depends on him and the surgery. The fitness is getting better. “Today (Thursday), I shook his hand. He always goes to give me his left hand but today I said no, you give me your right hand and it was good. It was gentle one, not a Marcin Wasilewski one!” Read more at http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/2016-17/mendy-features-in-ranieris-fitness-update-3446034.aspx#00pjb8wqyRFc49mv.99
Ted Maul Posted 1 December 2016 Posted 1 December 2016 So theoretically, we could have Mendy and a refreshed Drinkwater back in a couple of weeks, with James as another option. The domestic season begins at Stoke.

The whole world smiles Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 I expect pappy to start tonight but I don't expect him to be brilliant straight away he's not played any proper football for 4 Months and he will be massively off the pace. Anyone who has played the game even at Sunday level knows how long it takes to get your sharpness and touch back.

He'd walk straight into our 1st team then, with his eyes closed and his legs tied together

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 I do think Mendy will make a real impact for us once he starts integrating back into the side. There can't be too much pressure on him early on, because he's been out for months, but he may well make the difference in our league campaign.
lgfualol Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 Got my pitchfork ready if he isn't as good as Kante in the first 5 minutes of his return.
