All those defensive players and we still look like shipping goals against anyone and everyone. We are so bad
Stevosevic Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 Is there a reason why people suddenly think this is happening?

I'm not actually disagreeing with you that we are set up too defensively. It could just be because we are not really a threat at the other end of the pitch right now we get penned in at our end. 2 of our goal threats are coming back from AFCON.1 wants to leave for the prem equivalent of a box of Spanish Oranges, Okazaki doesn't score enough, Drinkwater doesn't score enough, nor do any of our midfielders apart from Mahrez for that matter. We are too easy to nullify. Ramirez may just be what we need.

Nobody has a clue what they are doing. 4 different formations in about as many weeks.

Yes, there not only needs to be more creative players in the side but more balance as well. We've had a lot of attack minded players in our starting line ups in the first part of the season and still barely troubled the opposition but they troubled us no end.
Max Power Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 Weird that the only genuine 4-3-3 we've played was a win away to Everton in the cup and we haven't seen it since?

We're all over the place and it doesn't matter what formation we play. Ranieri needs to go back to basics and get all areas of his side to be putting in maximum effort and creating a blend again. We can't defend nor can we create and attack, it's heinous.
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 Earlier in the season teams knew that if they stuck 2/3 men on Mahrez no-one else would be able to create anything and we'd end up trying the ball over the top. Ramirez would give us another option.

lgfualol Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 I give him 10 minutes into his debut until we see "Why did we spend x on Ramirez when we have [insert under-performing player] that can play there"

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 He's described as an attacking midfielder, and that's exactly what we're missing at the moment. Ndidi, Amartey and Mendy are capable enough to sure things up in the midfield, but once they offer that protection, we're too one dimensional going forward. Ramirez would offer something different to that. You can just tell in games we are missing that man in the CAM role. Could be a very shrewd signing.
desertfox2 Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 Makes the 30m budget sound about spot on. 15m for Ndidi 15m for Ramirez. Schlupp and Hernandez transfer fees for a defender hopefully....

I don't understand why we didn't give it a real chance, by changing it around too much it's caused confusion and players not knowing where they are meant to be.
Koke Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 I hope he has improved since his Southampton days because Saints fans don't particularly rate him. I hope its one of those where a club switch has improved h I m. £15m for a player that Southampton let go on a free is quite something though. And yes inb4 "but we won the league with an Aston Villa reject".
AKCJ Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 I don't particularly rate him but he'll do a job in a position we're utterly, utterly desperate. Okazaki doesn't work with Slimani. a front 4 of Albrighton, Mahrez, Ramirez and Slim will do well and will get goals.

Southampton signed him from Bologna for 12m as a 21-year-old though. 1st season 26 games 5 goals 2nd season 22 games 3 goals then fell out of favour

I think 4-3-3 is the way forward if we aren't going to play attacking full backs. Vardy and Slimani together doesn't work and we need width but with an extra body in the centre of midfield.
