themightyfin Posted 24 January 2017 Posted 24 January 2017 Hum this is weird. Even though we were granted permission to talk to his reps last Friday no talks have taken place as of yet. However....I've done some digging and seems could be happening tomorrow not sure why the delay was but the vibes are we are confident he will be a city player this window. As far as the CB is concerned...no more news to report I was told it would be done and dusted this week but I know nothing more. Maybe things changed after our performance on Sunday! Its very strange as it seems so quiet within the club ATM a strange atmosphere but things are happening I'm sure to bring in. Ew blood.it has been made clear to CR we need to improve the squad and I'm expecting 2-3 to come in before the window closes. Getting deals over the line is another thing of course.

psychonaut Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Would slip in nicely between mahrez and gray either side spearheaded by either vardy or slimani. Just need a couple of fullbacks with pace (chilwell) and a ball playing centre back. According to CR post game this is one of the formations we'll be reverting back to..

STUHILL Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 An attacking midfielder/No.10 who can run with the ball, beat a man, score goals from open play and free kicks, can take set plays but also known for his worth ethic. No world beater but a smart signing and could certainly help us be more creative in the centre. Also seems to be decent in the air from few videos I have seen. Not sure what happened to him at Southampton. Read somewhere that couple of injuries and loss of form pushed him out. I think Southampton at the time were flying as well, so they may have just had better players in form at the time. He certainly impressed Boro fans, so lets hope at 26, he can really kick on for us. Looking forward to seeing him in that Okazaki type role and picking/receiving the ball from midfield and going on a run or slotting some passes in for Vardy etc.

Watching last season's DVD (need to cheer myself up) we could make a better one for Joe Dodoo (still puzzled why we sold him. Would have been great for the U23s...)

However I think the key behind this one is Gaston is premier league proven, who needs no time to adjust to the league. Can see this making a big difference to Mahrez's performances too taking that creative burden off him a lot.

I do think in this instance the Prem proven label is important - it takes lots of players a season to find their feet in this league and whilst people on here have written off the Musa's and the Slimani's Amartey's Ndidi's and Mendy's I'm gonna be a little more patient.... Signing Gaston will be a boost.
