Big round of applause for Matty James today, I thought he was very good. He has that Gary Taylor-Fletcher look of having eaten all the pies (a look I like to rock myself!) but he was good on the ball, a lot more mobile than I was expecting and good out of possession. A very welcome surprise! Despite all of these injuries he gets, he keeps coming back and that is a brilliant mental attribute to have.

Also whenever Puel talks about him, it makes me laugh that he keeps calling him "James Matty" instead of "Matty James" !

:matty:

Here here!  I'm a fan of James.  Commited as it gets with the odd smattering of quality.  Solid player and had a grwat game today!

I was so impressed with him today.

To come back from so much time out and get picked ahead of Iborra (who i think is a quality player and done really well) but then fully justify that decision really does deserve credit.

Really hope he can stay fit / get fitter now. Well played Matty James

Was a bit uneasy to see him ahaed of Iborra but he was great today. Puel apparently has a knack to get the best out of his players or see what we don't.

James was fantastic. Slightly unsure of his selection but you can see his strengths as a box to box man. A lot of energy and good on the ball. Complimented Ndidi well.

Yes he was fantastic today but lets not get too carried away  just yet as he only ever seems to manage a few games before picking up an injury . I hope he can stay fit   but I won’t hold my breath

Iborra is decent but if Matty james hadn’t got that injury he Would Be at an English Champions league club now ...

the He boy is a serous baller and he will get better and better

I fecking love Matty

Spot on Gaelic. Matty is a real talent, technically sound, strong, intelligent and determined, and would certainly be at a top, top club if he hadn't suffered so badly from injuries. I pray he can stay free of injuries from now and and reach his potential with us.

What surprised me today and what pleases me no end is that the Matty James we've all gotten to know seems to be back. It may still be a bit premature, but the more games he's getting under his belt, the more assured he becomes.

For someone with his recent history to come back, work his way back up through a Championship detour and last for 90 minutes in a Premier League game is remarkable.

At this rate, I'd pick him ahead of King any day.

We've also got some serious competition for places in the middle now with Silva, Iborra, James and Ndidi.

I wish Matty James all the best this season and that he can remain healthy for the remainder of it, I'd do him the world of good. Confidence boost for mental recovery, so to speak. Must've been so tough sitting out for months, having to witness others making headlines from afar.

It's just one of these individual fairytale stories you can't but admire.

Always a better player than Drinkwater, if he could shed a stone or so it would be him accepting an England place instead of  Drinkwater refusing it, played very well today...

One could quite reasonably make an argument for him to have been MOTM today.  He really looks a class player.  I think at his best he is probably better than Drinky (and I am not being bitter there, Drinky was class for us and will always be a Leicester legend and I wish him well) and it is so nice to see him back in the team.  If he can stay fit and injury free he's a real asset.  Nice to have him back. I respect all the praise, but he is very slow as I saw today when he mis controlled and had to chase after the ball.  At the highest levels that is a massive disadvantage.

Iborra and Ndidi aren't exactly lightning either, although both have telescopic legs to cover for that.

I would hope that James might find half a yard if he had a good run of games, but he does seem to have bulked up a bit, which does slow you down.

Says a lot that he’s started ahead of Iborra & Silva recently especially after being out for so long with his injuries. People also forget he kept Drinky out the team in the great escape.

Very underrated, Great professional & top lad ??

For once I'm not at all concerned about our strength in depth in the cm positions.

That performance from James is the one we have seen many times before his injuries. Here's hoping he's injury free and can push on a level!

Puel is a big fan apparently.

What we're seeing is that next to a mobile, athletic player in Wilf, James is quality.

After the Fleetwood game we could all see that our midfield wasn't balanced, yesterday it was superb.

When was the last time we actually had four quality central midfielders :D?

Lennon, Izzett, Parker and Savage, or am I being too kind to Robbie? He was good at what he did for us though.
