Kasper for Captain

Recommended Posts

His reaction to the second goal says it all. Wes normally just looks lost and seeing who he can push the blame on.

But Kasper last night. It was clear his message was chin up we can still get something. Yes he showed passion and fight and spirit. When do you see it from Wes?

Wes has been great for us but I do think he would be a little better without the captaincy. It would also make him dropable (not a word? )

Absofuchinglutely!

no one is more deserving of the captaincy then kasper.  Morgan just looks shot as a defender let alone someone who should be leading the team by example.  Either he's exhausted or just just crap he's carrying the captaincy like its kryptonite.

if kasper turns it down than give it drinkwater and hopefully that will inspire better more consistent performances until the end of the season.

Won't see a more natural captain in this team for a long time! Management need to pull Wes/Kasper to one side and sort it!

Might be one way of keeping him come this summer

Wes can move on now imo, he's had his day with us

I doubt anyone is going to offer Wes 40k a week for three seasons though

I am mixed about this, not because Kasper doesn't deserve it but as a keeper and the way he already reacts, he is essentially a captain without an armband.

Is it better if someone else in the team is given the armband and hope that there are two leaders on the pitch, one firing as a captain and the other firing because it's Schmeichel?

Other than that Kasper is a natural leader/captain and would agree.

Yes yes yes.  Drop Walker at same time and you have gained two instant positives

He seems to be captain in all but name anyway.  When they had their group huddle at the beginning, it was Scmeichel who was doing all the talking with Morgan saying nothing.

I'm not sure why Morgan is captain.  He doesn't lead by example & you never see him rallying the players.

As badly organised as we were last night at times, the most ridiculous moment came when Mahrez took a throw-in in the corner to Morgan, who then tried to dribble round 2 players & get a cross in.  Bizarre.

FFS Ranieri please put Morgan out of his misery!

if ever the phrase 'flogging a dead horse' had any real meaning it is so true with our captaincy.

Morgan is our weakest link and Schmeichel probably spends more time shouting at him than anyone else.

Don't be a pussy Ranieri, drop him and give the armband to Kasper.

Where was Wes when he gave them a penalty and Kasper saved it. The only person that went up to him was Simpson. Wes should have thanked him and also given a message to his team to pick themselves up, but he just walked off.

This.

An armband won't change Kaspar, so there is no point.

Wes needs to stop being the silent leader and start motivating on the pitch.

I've already mentioned it before, but the 'armband' and captain tag mainly means you take on ambassadorial roles off the pitch and do the talking with referees on it. And I highly doubt Kasper would like to take on the ambassadorial role before knowing which division we will be in. He has a family far away which he will likely prioritize over anything else.

We're already getting what we need from Kasper re: leadership, giving him the armband will not affect this one iota.

Wholeheartedly agree, Kasper was absolutely outstanding today and has been our onfield leader all season anyway just minus the armband.

But to be fair to Wes, none of us have any idea the toll the amount of games he plays are taking on his body and the mental pressure the captaincy might be placing on him on top of that.

Genuinely believe this is a massive win-win, Kasper is a natural born leader and will make a phenomenal captain and an exhausted, wonderful servant of Leicester in Wes may well start finding a bit of form again with the weight of the captaincy pressure off his shoulders.

Once again people massively over estimating the armband... funny how he's always a shit captain when we're losing rather than winning the the top two divisions.

Leaders take many different forms and not one of you have any idea of his relationship with players away from the cameras. Screaming and shouting doesn't instantly make you a good captain, just as being more reserved doesn't make you a bad one.

If people think we're struggling because Wes Morgan is captain then they are beyond deluded. Swapping captains isn't suddenly going to make people support each other when they have the ball, or be able to control it and pass to a similar coloured shirt.

I'd love to think Kasper will stay here until he retires as our captain, but you just know someone like Liverpool will offer him ridiculous money and he'll be gone next season.  (Or somewhere in China!)

Many people have questioned his ability to stay level headed & keep his cool at certain times.  However, I think he's been great.  I think he's been the best keeper I've ever seen in a LCFC shirt.

Commitment, passion, quality and pride.  Legend.  He's so much more of a leader than Wes.  You only have to look at the pre-match huddle last night, his reaction to their 2nd goal and his post-match interview.  Wes just looks lost all the time.

It is what needs to happen. How can we make it happen?

Chanting  SCHMEICHEL FOR CAPTAIN at the Liverpool match?

Set up a petition? Any ideas?

I think such a change would probably take some weight off Morgans shoulders and he 'might' repsond more positively on the pitch.

I'm thinking a minute's applause in the first minute to show our appreciation and let everyone know he's our first choice.

i've said it before and i'll say it again, we need a kasper in the middle of the park, someone who's vocal, has the players respect and is willing to shout, cajole and even bollock other players (in the right way). someone who will clap their hands and get everyone going after a goal is conceded, we need that more than ever right now.
