Musa was definitely a Steve Walsh pick. was not slim a target before CR as well? And I still think Mendy will be great for us. I still say we need to judge the new players from now on. Not on games when everyone was sh1te.

So if he keeps us up with games to spare you would rather risk another than Shakey? I hope our owners take no notice of you. He has done well to harness the players together as a team, but make no mistake, the players are playing with a sense of freedom and relief as clearly they had lost respect for Ranieri. Winning 2 games and keeping us up for a 13 game season means nothing, when looking for a manager to guide us for years to come. I have nothing against Shaky but I think he is destined to be a number 2 and not a manager, but I could be wrong however. You say you hope the owner's take no notice of my opinion... I have dinner with Vichai every week ??... I'll tell him you said hello.

I think he was a "wrong time" signing - which for me is a whole new category. This is a possible, It can take time to settle, especially when you only get the odd game in a side that is underperforming.

Vardinio'sCat Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Sexy football, eh? We need to appreciate every moment of the rest of this season, because our Champions have been roused. The hangover is starting to ease, and we find that we still have a high quality team. Still dreaming...

Chris Powell is currently no 2 at derby after doing some decent no 1 work at two clubs. i expect he will get a managerial job in the championship if we don't give him the reigns next season. I am also unconvinced that he could be a successful PL manager. Question is - will vichai give him the chance in the summer ??

Matt Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Fantastic stuff. Looking back like our old selves from last season I was concerned when we went 1 down because under Ranieri, all season, we knew if we went 1-0 down it was time to pack up the tools and go home cos we weren't coming back but we responded well and looked good.

Considering his usual rubbish this was probably an improvement. Thank fk someone's found something to moan about. All this winning and positivity was annoying me.
Bossman Blessed It Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 CS handles the media really well - doesn't give much away and defends the players. He's now won two on the bounce and if we beat a very talented Sevilla side, his abilities as a manager will start to solidify. Moreover, if he keeps us up and we finish strongly, you wouldn't bet against a number of newly relegated or decent championship sides wanting to take a chance on him. Time will tell, but he's been an assistant manager (mainly at Leicester) for almost 10 years - if he's ever going to make the step up to management, then the time would be now.
Chico1958 Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Mike Phelan, John Carver both had relative success at first amongst others............ Let's not get carried away. But if it continues along the same path who knows what the future holds for both Club and Shakespeare

We WERE absolutely right to get rid of Claudio. It should have happened sooner. 2. We DONT want to wake up over the next few days to find that we've appointed Roy Hodgson as the manager. Give it to Shakey, until the end of the season. 3. Jamie Vardy IS still a good striker Well chuffed today. Under Ranieri, when we went one down, our heads would have dropped and we'd have probably lost. Today, under Shakey, the opposite happened. Ok Captain Obvious.

reynard Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Simply a great result and a very much needed three points. I thought we were good in parts but not as fluent as against Liverpool. Vardy had a terrific match and some of his play in the first half was really of a very high standard. The set up for Fuch's goal was spot on. Ndidi had a very average game, was at fault for the first goal and very nearly gave away a penalty in the second half. However, he never hid and great credit to him for keeping going. He didn't get the space or time he got against Liverpool but he's going to be very good. Mahrez, again I though was largely ineffective though his goal made up for that. Simply the class we needed to break down a very stubborn defence. Hull were not that bad and didn't just put ten men behind the ball. Some of their last ditch defending was really committed and probably kept the score down though their keeper was at fault for two goals I felt. Main thing for me though was the togetherness and spirit which has been missing nearly all season. Under Ranieri we would have lost. Our target now should be to try and catch Watford and Burnley. They're 4 points away so not impossible. No time for complacency though as we are still too close to the bottom three for comfort but at least we look in better shape for the upcoming games which will decide our season.
Winchesterfox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Great to have our old Leicester back. A few things stood out for me. 1) The team selection looked much better. I wasn't left scratching my head at who was on the pitch, or what position they were playing, and who came on and went off as substitutes. 2) The passing, particularly in the first half, was great. Quick, confident, to players and into space in the wings, rather than endless hoofballs chipped to opposing central defenders. 3) The movement of the players was also much better. The interchange between Vardy and Fuchs for our first goal was fantastic, and in general our players seemed to look for the ball more. 4) We made a lot fewer basic mistakes on the ball, and everyone had a good game. 5) Our heads didn't drop when we went a goal behind. 6) We pressed better when we didn't have the ball. Lots of these points are related. I could go on ... There are still a few things to sort out. 7) I thought we looked vulnerable down our right flank. I get that Mahrez is never going to be great defensively, but he did seem to either not be in the right place, or in the right place but just standing around. Maybe we just have to put up with that for the moments of magic like yesterday's goal and find another way of dealing with it, particularly if Simpson is going keep venturing out of his half more. 8) I thought Drinky was sitting very deep at times to make the passes out of defence. A better team than Hull would maybe dominate the space in front. So a defender who can pass the ball must still be a priority for the summer.

Number 6 Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Shakey must get the 13 games. If he wins half of them and finishes 12-14th then why shouldn't he get it next season? Obsession with having a name but it's not necessary. We struggled to attract players when we had just written the best footballing story, had Ranieri in charge and had CL football to offer. There's more than the manager that affects that.

No use climbing Everest before you've purchased provisions. Besides, you'll not get "long-term guidance" from a man of 70. Please congratulate Vichai on his courage concerning Ranieri for all that he was six months slow and should really read these columns more closely if he values excellent advice on saving our season in good time!
