NewquayFox Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Not sure what the line ups for friendly games are next season but would prefer some in England/Wales, I recall watching City play Penzance (still got the poster Walshy nicked for me) back in 98, Bristol, Torquay & Plymouth away games would be marvellous... Up the City.......
CosbehFox Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 If we stay up, we will playing in the Premier Asia Trophy in late July. It takes place in Shanghai and Hong Kong
Fox92 Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Lets go back to the good times of Mansfield, Kettering etc. Friendlies are for getting to lower league grounds.
lgfualol Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 I read somewhere that we will have a pre season friendly against the team we signed Josh Gordon from. A sort of payment I guess.

I would take 3 games vs local lower league teams. I'm not trying to go through "they are not fully fit" thing again. Finish transfers in July and offload the players that we don't need.

Tuna Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 6 friendlies is enough how about Rotor Volgograd, Melbourne City, Jomo Cosmos, Cruz Azul, Pune City and Aberdeen. Perfect preparation.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Northampton Posh Cambridge Notts County Lincoln Birmingham Games with teams like this is best preparation
Jobyfox Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Won't we have some international obligations as European Champions in pre-season? Not ideal preparation really.

That, historically is a real 'tat quality' tournament! it isnt tbh, reported by John Percy in the Telegragh but says we havent said yes or no http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/03/16/leicester-city-invited-play-premier-league-asia-trophy-wont/ rather us not, but we probably will since its more money in the bank like the ICC one we did last pre season

steflcfc Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 One of the mistakes last season. Yes we were flying round as "Champions of England", but it really hampered our preparations and start to the season with not enough players getting 90 mins under their belts. Keep it local and bed some youngsters/new players into the team without much traveling
Livid Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Could you imagine the eggs on faces at the ICC cup if by some miracle we actually won the Champions League and hadn't been invited.
katieakita Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Used to like us playing our struggling local near neighbours Nuneaton,Tamworth & Hinckley and letting their fans see top players they would normally see so Coventry,Forest and Derby for me but think a trip to the Far East looks the likeliest.

Do me a favour, Rudkin will be holiday in Skegness until the end of August.

Cromer town ?
Wymsey Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Prefer to be somewhere local to get the relatively local communities together. If the club were to go outside the UK, would rather go to somewhere like Germany, France or Spain and play some decent teams before going back not jet-lagged.
ozvaldo Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Australia -> Glasgow -> USA -> Iceland -> Iran We could do with some more travel.
lgfualol Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 5/6 games around UK would do it for me. Every player needs to complete 90 minutes at least 3 times. Albrighton and a couple others didn't do a whole game in the Summer and it showed. No doubt we'll do this asian trophy though.
mozartfox Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Never understand why they do not play any Friendlies in Austria.. May be come a week later to the training camp and include a couple of games to help the strikers get their shooting boots on.
