Patch up Morgan who hadn't played for weeks and drop Benny who had been playing well consistently for a few games.. that was probably very telling to him about what will happen when Morgan is fit again.. PLUS they are looking for another CB and when you look at the names linked, they don't sound like bench warmers to me.. so Benny is probably thinking that this is his chance to secure a decent move to a ( semi) decent club as he's been playing well in front of tv cameras and so his stock is the highest it's been for a couple of years now and probably wants to grab the opportunity and benefit from it. Even though it was Huth who Morgan came in for?

We'll surely be bringing in a centre back this summer and ideally Huth and Morgan fighting it out to be their partner with the other being on the bench. Benalouane has done okay this last month or so but he's still well behind Morgan and Huth . I don't trust the link as I've never heard of it but anything like our money back and he's gone for me. Very strange view. I think he's been a stand out player in recent games, and I've seen him have 1 bad game in total since he's been here, though admittedly I didn't see Millwall away. Morgan and Huth have had very dodgy seasons and aren't getting any younger.

adejo92 Posted 2 May 2017 Posted 2 May 2017 I actually rate Benny. He looks a lot more comfortable on the ball than Huth and Morgan and he is pretty solid. Yes he makes errors but they will iron our with more playing time.

Got the worth passing accuracy of all our CB's, he might be "more comfortable on the ball" but he gives it away more than anyone else.

Got bullied from start to finish against Palace, could have been sent off at Arsenal, constantly giving fouls away on the edge of the box, hoofs the ball out of play more than Morgan, has a habit of getting dragged out to make a challenge, gets totally dominated in the air against anyone bigger than him. He's done ok, I don't want to sound too negative on the bloke. But peoples reactions seem over the top, not a chance people are judging him like they do the others.

He wasn't bad there. The goal was a mixture of Chilwell, Amartey and Wasyl letting the guy stroll in and place it for the winner. God we were crap.
Guest Lako42 Posted 2 May 2017 Posted 2 May 2017 Benny is proving to be a quality player. To sell him for the likely fee we would get would be very silly indeed.

Benalouane played against Atletico both legs? Huth was banned hence the urgency to get Morgan on the pitch alongside Benalouane.

Some have been over the top in their praise but yours is over the top in criticism. He's not been anywhere near as bad as your posting suggests. He's been a decent replacement in a defence that has been suspect all season. At times his distribution has been superb and a welcome change from the aimless long balls we saw for a long part of this season. My biggest concern with him is his inability to deal with physical strikers. Lukaku and Benteke gave him real trouble but I bought he was very assured vs Arsenal and the fouling you talk about is no different to what Huth commits week in, week out but with one difference. Huth is a master of the dark arts and Benalouane so far isn't. I am impressed with his willingness to battle though and he never shies away from it. I think he is proving to be a great squad player for us. He was superb against Atletico Madrid in the first leg, probably our best outfield player under some tricky situations. Put it this way, on 1st February there is no way any of us were happy with our defensive options and now 3 months on he has emerged as an able defensive partner for either of Morgan or Huth. Yes, as a team we've improved dramatically which helps but he's been one of our better performers most games. He's more than played his part.

I'd barely have commented on the bloke had there not been the over the top praise chucked his way. I've always said he's done a decent job, but there are a lot of people on here overlooking some serious flaws and they are the same ones who usually bash Morgan and Huth. I'm more than happy having him around to step when needed. But I'm not having that he's better than the other two.

UPinCarolina Posted 2 May 2017 Posted 2 May 2017 Would be hard to deny him a move; but then again look at Ulloa. Benny has endeared himself to me.
