UPinCarolina Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 To add injury to insult, Andy King has a hamstring pull and is doubtful for our final two matches.

dynamark Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 In order Sterling was offside he knew he was offside where he was standing and they were very lucky to get that one. Bennys tackle was rubbish but the lad had skipped past three city players before he got to benny Great goal for us first time Riyah and Allbrigton got into the game Albrighton was floored by the lad he led with the elbow no question on the blind side of the ref and no linesman at that end(nice to see Marc stick one on him)red card Not keen on Rihad taking the pen but very unlucky/slight technical fault with his run up.Still not sure on the rules. Last minute free kick only needed a head looked like Ndidi missed by a whisker. Chilwell did OK but he still has the problem when running back inside and tries to tackle with the left(wrong)foot. All Mahrez needs to do is follow up his tracking back with putting a foot in.He does the covering work and then relaxes as though its all over. Vardy just didn't seem to pick the right option a few times with his run running away from the game rather than back into the area where we could do some damage. Not a bad day overall

The first bit of the rules talks about the kicker or teammates committing an offence before the kick is taken (leading to retakes). The "double kick" is an offence after the kick is taken. Full website here. (http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-14---the-penalty-kick) The encroachment by the Man City players is an offence by the defending team before the kick is taken. Then Mahrez hits the ball the first time, it is in play, then he touches it a second time and at that moment it is out of play. The ball does end in the net, but technically it is out of play from the moment it hits Mahrez a second time, so if the ref correctly spots the encroachment and the double hit, the ball "hasn't ended in the net" (because it is out of play on the 2nd hit) and the retake is needed because Man City committed an offence before the kick was taken and the attacking team haven't scored. If, after the penalty kick has been taken: the kicker touches the ball again before it has touched another player: an indirect free kick (or direct free kick for deliberate hand ball) is awarded the ball is touched by an outside agent as it moves forward: the kick is retaken the ball rebounds into the field of play from the goalkeeper, the crossbar or the goalposts and is then touched by an outside agent: the referee stops play play is restarted with a dropped ball at the position where it touched the outside agent My mistake. Even so, that paragraph after "If after the penalty kick has been taken:" is very confusing. Not really sure what it's trying to say. Seems to suggest the response should be an indirect free kick and/or the kick to be retaken. Can't make head nor tails of it. Edit: Just had a look at the actual rules doc on the FA website which are much clearer and you are absolutely correct. Madley did the right thing here, no argument. Edit edit: Oh, and the law is an ass. Surely it would make more sense if the second touch was acccidental to allow the kick to be retaken if the ball ended up in the net.

Oh, some of the wording is appalling. Christ knows what they've done with the bullet points as well, they use 3 different bullet points to talk about the same thing immediately after the point about double hits, it's as if nobody even reviewed the bloody thing before publishing it.

See my edits above. The proper rules doc is much clearer. Shocking that they can put out such substandard summaries though.
fazzyfox Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Is that "Outside Agent" part about for example the stray beachball that came onto the pitch and deflected the football in a match a few years ago? Or theoretically an abandoned shin pad or discarded bandaging? Or do they mean 007 when he's not indoors?

What about if 007 is on the pitch, but it's the Millenium Stadium, and the roof is closed - is he an inside agent then? Need some rules clarification in that case, especially since he has such a long track record of slipping into things in his past.
fazzyfox Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Cometh the hour cometh Kapustka or... A noseless Albrighton alongside Ndidi in the middle with Gray and Mahrez wide? Or...Sit Wasilewski in there and tell him Alli has said something rude about his family? Or...Birch? Or...Can anyone lend me some boots, I already have a full kit?

Time seems to be catching up on Kingy. I thought he had a decent first half in what was a forgettable team effort but it's been a while since I've felt he's got a full game in him. He's gradually lost aspects of his impact too so that, now, he's a calming influence and reliable, still quick passer more than anything else and we're going to need more than that from our future midfielders, although he'll likely be able to help us through the last 20 minutes ad infinitum if the need arises. Perhaps time to move on, get his coaching badges and perhaps return in some capacity at a later date if he's so inclined.

But he helped create our only goal today and was excellent second half, how anyone can have a go at him for slipping is beyond me, the penalty was sending the keeper the wrong way before it hit his other foot!! do you reckon Chelsea fans gave Terry this much stick when he missed a penalty that actually ****ing meant something?!? The thing is, we feed Mahrez the ball incessantly when we move fwd, so yes, he has a few lovely touches. But someone playing hard would add more we think. Yes, he participated in Shinji's goal but Shinji created that goal, and replacing Mahrez would probably result in more consistent service for our strikers. Less spectacular at times, but give me consistency over 3-4 bursts per game couched by sulking. What he has done this season is very replaceable, plus getting rid of him will save us quite a bit on wages and allow us to strengthen elsewhere. Granted, I don't wholly blame Mahrez, who I concede can be world-class if motivated. Playing under Shakey is a nightmare for Mahrez, we refuse to properly balance the offense by consistently playing a Demari or Chillwell opposite him to force the opposing defense to play him more straight up. Without another real threat on the ball, and with us continuing to attack through Mahrez, teams are jumping him with 2-3 every time he gets the ball, our strategy stifles our attack and frustrates the F out of RM. RM will be great someplace with a balanced attack where he can consistently have a single defender to beat to reach the area for his crosses or magic on the ball.
Benguin Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 All I've learnt from today is that Madely is a cvnt and Man city fans are more deluded than the spuds.
