Let's talk about a special player who is technically the best player we have, arguably the best we have ever had?

who despite the crap some post on here continues to work hard for the team adding tracking back to his quality this year.

Shame he doesn't track back in games,

im fully aware of his qualities, where as other are blind to his laziness predictable crap he no longer gets away with,

the penalty was bad luck, but am sure had it stood some would say what skill it was and that he meant to do that,

he shouldn't take penalties altogether,

hes an individual not a team player and for me

Infringements and sanctions

Once the referee has signalled for a penalty kick to be taken, the kick must be taken. If, before the ball is in play, one of the following occurs:

the player taking the penalty kick or a team-mate infringes the Laws of the Game:

  • if the ball enters the goal, the kick is retaken
  • if the ball does not enter the goal, the referee stops play and restarts with an indirect free kick

except for the following when play will be stopped and restarted with an indirect free kick, regardless of whether or not a goal is scored:

  • a penalty kick is kicked backwards
  • a team-mate of the identified kicker takes the kick; the referee cautions the player who took the kick
  • feinting to kick the ball once the kicker has completed the run-up (feinting in the run-up is permitted); the referee cautions the kicker

the goalkeeper or a team-mate infringes the Laws of the Game:

  • if the ball enters the goal, a goal is awarded
  • if the ball does not enter the goal, the kick is retaken; the goalkeeper is cautioned if responsible for the infringement

a player of both teams infringes the Laws of the Game, the kick is retaken unless a player commits a more serious offence (e.g. illegal feinting)

Summary table

EDIT: FA website has a well weird summary image that won't post. Crud.

That what my daughter said. The penalty should be retaken if the ball goes in the net.

The funny thing is the PGMOL (referees governing body) released guidance for the officials to follow on the EXACT offside rule that wasn't followed today after a similar incident happened in a Man United game last year

Guess who the referee was for that game?

Bobby Madley.

Thats a mighty coincidence. Maybe the PGMOL should spend its time explaining to Madley what the fooking rules are, instead of announcing it to the rest of the world.

Please elaborate as to why a player strolling around for 9 months after recently giving an interview saying he's our best player, gets marked out of the game because the rest of the team aren't stars, and that he wants regular CL football isn't to be scrutinised? How is it embarrassing to want more from a player making those claims?

It's embarrassing coming onto a forum to constantly claim that a player isn't playing under his full capacity, and fight that opinion against most people, just because he's from your country of birth.

It's embarrassing to defend those people even more so. Please elaborate Shen, because I'm not really in your headspace right now.

I'm sorry if I offend you, but I just don't think it's worth trying to elaborate much for you. Judging by your comments on his performances your understanding of football is a bit rudimentary.

I think the vast majority of Leicester fans will concede that Mahrez hasn't hit the heights of last year, but few players have. Despite this, he was still a major component in us having a succesful CL campaign. He's clearly had more impact since Shakespeare took over, but because we've seen more dramatic improvement/impact from Albrighton, Vardy, Fuchs and Huth, the contrast fools people into thinking Mahrez has been shit when he hasn't really.

I don't think it's wrong to have high expectations for Mahrez, I myself have been quite vocal in my criticism this season, but the abuse and the disrespectful throwaway comments that I've read this season are far too excessive.

Despite him being here for quite some time and us knowing how he plays, he's still being criticised for things which WE SHOULD BLOODY WELL KNOW by now that he doesn't do! He's never bleeding done it, yet he's far exceeded what we thought he was capable of with his performances last season. We were spoilt and now some have the audacity to call for him to be sold. I mean, think about it, a POTY who's helped this club achieve it's biggest ever success getting labeled as a liability less than a year later. Am I the only one finding that ridiculous?

Have a little sympathy with Madley for the goal, as there is so much confusion with the rules. If you're in the 6 yard box and in an offside position you should be given offside, end of. Then there is no confusion about interfering with play. I don't think sterling as any impact of Kasper but he does on Fuchs.

Penalty is just unlucky. Rule needs changing though, encroachment is a retake so why shouldn't a accidental double touch also be a retake?

Good second half, Fuchs was my MOM, thought he did really well out of position.

Anyone who blames that on Mahrez clearly has an agenda

Could say the same about the person blaming the ref. Mahrez slipped, can happen to anyone but the pen was missed because of that and the double kick, not the ref.

After playing Man City and Arsenal in the past month, its fair to say these "Big" clubs have no class at all, both are jokes of a club.

Man City are a small club. They just won the lottery. Everything about ManCity says small time. .

Muppets on the match thread trying to outdo each other in showing just how little attention they've been paying:

'Why is Mahrez taking penalties??'   (He'd scored five on the trot)

'Finally a non-scuffed Shinji goal!'   (His last five goals have had one thing in common - making perfect contact while in full stride)

Give it a rest, can't defend him missing a pen (even if it wasn't a pen and he was the one that won it, but still)

Can't actually tell if you're being facetious or not. Never seen you slate Mahrez yet you are now because he slipped as he took the penalty?

By those rules, the kick should of been retaken

Mahrez did a foul kick, infringing the laws of the game, but the ball entered the goal, so the kick should of been retaken.

Some really bitter, blue tinted spectacle wearing in this thread imo.

Sterling swung at the ball but didn't have any impact on the ball and didn't stop or interfere with any of our players. The phrase clutching at straws springs to mind.

And as for the pen, well Madley followed the law. It's very hard to take and I'm as pissed off as anyone else but it was the correct decision.

Mahrez played as well as anyone else, we was beaten by the ref, and a bit of bad luck with the slip.

After going two down, and looking like taking a palace like good hiding, no embarrassment walking away losing 2-1 in controversial circumstances.

With the players we were forced to play, and in the positions they had to play in, im not bothered about the result.

For me, not that my opinions matter to this forum, or to the manager, it's clear to me who we need to keep, and who needs to go, and I just hope the deadwood gets moved on.

I slated Albrighton first half of the season, as he was probably one of the worst performing players, but today I have to take my hat off to him, bravery and commitment after the probably broken nose, and nasty cheekbone injury.

That Ref would fall into a barrel of tits and come out sucking Pep's cock.

I don't think we have won under this guy, he don't like us that is for sure

On a positive note, I think Shakespeare deserves a vast amount of praise for motivating the players in a game that means very little, as do the players for implementing the effort. For me, this game illustrates why CS should get the job long-term. Also, really impressed at his handling of the media, never looks to blame anyone else and gives a pretty honest assessment, quite clear to see why the players enjoy playing for him so much.

Brown-nosing over.
