His quality on the ball is just exceptional. But he's never, ever been convincing as a penalty-taker. The fact the ball inadvertently 'went in' just disguises a stuttering, doubt-laden run up. Point taken. Penalties are an art of confidence, and that hasn't been his strong point for quite some time.

whoareyaaa Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Good game unlucky not to come away with a point, cracking effort today.
yorkie1999 Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Typical game that has been decided by a referee making an incorrect decision with the first goal that's ultimately decided the result and how the teams have had to play. That's why these sort of ref's need fvcking off because they're just not up to the job of officiating a professional football game. You can argue about all the other points in the game and all the pluses and minuses but none of that counts when a goal has been awarded due to a dubious decision.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 13 May 2017 Author Posted 13 May 2017 Pardew has come across really well for me today I know historically he's a muppet, but Niall Quinn keeps spaffing on about man city saying its a great win but Pardew keeps bringing back the point that we were really unlucky and were hard done by with an incorrect decision.

Probably because he knows, from the 'minnows' point of view how frustrating it is and shockingly common for clubs to go to the big teams and get the wrong end of the referee's bias

Their first goal was offside, and Mahrez's pen shouldn't have been one. Actually thought the ref did decent. Ridiculously tough game to referee and he got a decent percentage of tough decisions right. Thought we played well, so much hunger, aggression and emotions. Any other team in our position would have laid out the beach towels. Proud of the boys.
orangecity23 Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Infringements and sanctions Once the referee has signalled for a penalty kick to be taken, the kick must be taken. If, before the ball is in play, one of the following occurs: the player taking the penalty kick or a team-mate infringes the Laws of the Game: if the ball enters the goal, the kick is retaken if the ball does not enter the goal, the referee stops play and restarts with an indirect free kick except for the following when play will be stopped and restarted with an indirect free kick, regardless of whether or not a goal is scored: a penalty kick is kicked backwards a team-mate of the identified kicker takes the kick; the referee cautions the player who took the kick feinting to kick the ball once the kicker has completed the run-up (feinting in the run-up is permitted); the referee cautions the kicker the goalkeeper or a team-mate infringes the Laws of the Game: if the ball enters the goal, a goal is awarded if the ball does not enter the goal, the kick is retaken; the goalkeeper is cautioned if responsible for the infringement a player of both teams infringes the Laws of the Game, the kick is retaken unless a player commits a more serious offence (e.g. illegal feinting) Summary table EDIT: FA website has a well weird summary image that won't post. Crud.
fazzyfox Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Niall Quinn, "overall the ref did well today"! I suggest we all just chill, head to the pub for a civilised game of darts. Print out the below, cut it out and take it with you.

wurmer Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Referees given them the game here - no more, no less. Not worth getting worked up about, our survival didn't depend on it, and there's nothing we can do now. Onto the next game.
HoustonFox Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Gonna get yelled at here but would Madely and Riyad be getting so much hate had the penalty been given? Those wanting Riyad to eff off are a joke. He slipped. End of. Gray showed why he is sub. Missed Marc when he went off. With 3 starters missing, we did well and shows how far we have come to be so disappointed with just losing to Man City at their place. Worried about midfield for next game if King out too.

WigstonWanderer Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Bobby Madley strikes again!!! What an utter ****
dylanlegend Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Excellent performance from the lads with basically a makeshift defence. Good to see the attitude is still there even though technically we have little to play for. Another reason Shakey needs to get the job full time
