Man City Post Match Thread

Rarely got so emotional for a football game except for the german team. I hate the ref, I hate the Emtpyhad, I hate ManCity. The team fought bravely and deserved the draw.  Should have been a 2-2 if it weren't for Mahrez's unfortunate slip.

To the all the "fans" slating him for that, shame on you. I never saw that kind of hate in my life. He's one of your best players ever and I genuinely can't believe how much some of you just want him gone.

You don't deserve him.

To the mods, especially Mark:  If you think this post is argumentative, it really is this time. If you ban me for that, you can as well delete my account. Some of the posts I read in this match thread are downright disgraceful and I just can't keep my mouth shut about that.

Whatever it is, it's not hate.  Nobody hates him.

It might be criticism.  It might be frustration that the player of 2016 hasn't turned up this year but it's not hate.

really is a shame what a toxic club Man City are, I had some affection for them when we had the FA Cup tie a few years ago and genuinely liked Mancini. Seems as soon as they won their first title they just sold their soul and just wanted to be another top club rather than have an actual identity

Stunning Shinji strike. Thought his celebration was a bit muted but I am paranoid.

He didn't even crack a smile.

I wonder if he expects that of himself and only gets excited for other people?

Just got in, still a bit gutted tbh. When you have such a chance for a point and don't take it. Not good.

They dominated us first half and their goal was coming. Second half I thought we were much better though and deserved a goal (or two....).

I have never seen anything like it with the penalty either. There I was still celebrating untill I see their fans taking the piss. Thought at the very least we'd get a retake but didn't realise he touched it first. Still haven't watched it back yet.

Gray has hardly had the time on the pitch has he. If he had the minutes Mahrez has had, I think he'd have created a fair few chances.

I have watched Gray this season and last season. The only thing I see where he offers more than Mahrez is his pace. His decision-making and tunnel vision are major drawbacks and his delivery from out wide is very erratic.

As has been mentioned, even on his bad days, Mahrez creates chances. Albrighton has been in good form, yet even he creates about as much as an off-colour Mahrez. I simply do not see what it is that convinces you that Gray would offer similar results to Mahrez.

No idea why everyone is complaining about the ref.

We blew it basically with that daft peno but considering we had key players missing we did a bloody good job.

It goes to show how far we have come and with the right acquisitions in the summer i think we can make top 4 next season.

I thought we were brilliant in the second half! And we were doused with some bad luck, Fernandinho (or fernando whoever is was) I think got away with one, he should have gone for that elbow on Albrighton....

We deserved a point at least from the game, but it bodes well going forward, a few tweaks and fresh faces and we will be a force next season...much to pundits dislike!

see some Man City fans are calling us, for our away support and how quiet it was.......isnt that like pot calling kettle?

All I've learnt from today is that Madely is a cvnt and Man city fans are more deluded than the spuds.

Madley is not a cnut, he is not that useful and Man City fans seem to have turned into self entitled pale blue versions of the red Manure, which is a shame but there you go :)

At 2-0 It's all over but at least we made a match of it.

Shinji goal woke us up but why do we need a mountain to climb to get us going?

The fact nothing much was riding on the outcome frustrates me how awful we were and the aim seemed to be hold on and hope for a point.

I'll say again, I was impressed with us today.

Under Ranieri this season, if we'd started that game today like we did, we'd have been annihilated.

However, today, with a weakened side, we really should have seen a draw.

There was more fight in the team, and when Shinji scored that brilliant goal, more belief.

This bodes well imo.

It seemed a very negative team selection, especially when you saw them glide through our midfield in the first half.

They aren't great defensively, I would have tried Albrighton and Ndidi in the middle with Gray on the wing and given them something to think about defensively.

I like Shakespeare but today and at Arsenal he set us up all wrong.

Mahrez has offered nothing this season so any criticism of Gray's drawbacks are not really relevant. I'm talking about end product here, not step overs and swivels.

Gray is not a perfect player, he is a talented, young player with huge potential, which will never be fulfilled if he doesn't play.

People need to stop thinking of the Mahrez of last season and judge whether his performances this season have warranted a constant starting place ahead of Gray.

And then you need to also ask the same question for the time period of the last 7-8 games of the season - considering we've been pretty much safe, he's very likely to leave regardless and Gray is likely to leave if he can't a look in.

The answer to both of those questions is quite evidently no.

It is shocking short term and more importantly long term planning from the club to keep playing Mahrez instead of Gray at this point.

Yes... lets face it it is mahrez's decision making that is sooo poor this year. When to pass when to cross when to run..... he gets it wrong.  He needs to sit and watch videos of his decisions .

Further he is not really committeed to defending.

He must work on  these issues

Right now i doubt he is worth 40mil.... or even 20mil.

We know he can do much better. He needs to sort himself out whoever he is playing for next term

Shame we didn't manage to get the draw. Gutted about the penalty.

Man City really weren't all that. If that's the standard for the top 4 I think we can give it a go next season.

Also -  what was up with Man City fans? They had their own Ranieri chant? "You stabbed him in the back...Ranieri woahh"

Mahrez needs to take a leaf out of Albrighton's book sometimes.

Look at the goal today. No messing, early cross, defence can't get organised, goal. Those are the principles this team plays by. That's end product.

I'm not interested in how many times Mahrez can take a player on near the byline if he ends up getting tackled anyway. That's what his whole season has been like. The odd flash of brilliance but mainly very frustrating.

He may be the most gifted player we have but his performance level over this season has been well below the other regular starters. As bad as some of them were until Ranieri was sacked, at least most of the pulled their finger out after.

Drinkwater has been as bad since but he was by far our best player until December.

Any top club looking to pay big money for him needs to think twice. There has to be serious question marks about whether he can perform like he did last season, every season. Maybe a move would reignite his commitment and confidence, but it's a risk for them.

Our away end was quiet today. I've been critical of our ends all season but today was the worse I think. Nothing in the bottom tier.

Bloody hell Kitch whats happened, I agree with all you've written there.

The contrast to Sane, too. A younger player but similar stature, just knocked Mahrez off the ball as if he wasn't there.

Only watched the game on the box but judging by the noise from the TV the vocal support

from Leicester fans was woeful.Looking at the pictures , have we the oldest supporters in the division

Thank **** there was nothing riding on today

shakey must have run over his neighbors cat !

Exactly.

If we;re going to have one of those days of freak penalty misses, offside goals and unpunished GBH, better to have it today when the season is over.

Why oh, why..did it take to the 2nd half, to find our game...

Forget those  contraversial moments...

I dont like the tactics, and our slow movements forward.

We are not a Possesion team, so I wont go down that road.

Even with DD, Ndidi, we are desperately missing a cm who can take the ball, the game

forward..we need a BOSS.This squad is different a mixed pickle ethos and character,

this Group can still deliver....Find that   man!!!
