Our CL campaign will live in the memory forever but it is hard to say how much that took out of us. Look at Spurs they have had a cracking season yet failed in 2 European competitions so without a European adventure next season we can look to move up the table and maybe challenge for a cup. Last summer the club was damned whatever they did, Kante was not going to stay and we can see why and we paid top dollar to keep our league winning team on better contracts. We spent over £80 million on bringing in new players and had owners with the courage to sack our greatest ever manager to worldwide condemnation and brand image damage. As an old timer think we need to get behind the owners and trust them with what they do this summer and whoever the appoint and bring in or sell and if players do not to be here, whoever they are it is time to move them on but on our terms. Players have had a season here to settle and we can look to build. We also missed Morgan and Huth and with DD had a big hole ripped from the spine of the team. Up the Foxes Spot on imho, have to say there are some fickle fans on here ?
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 They were shite We were wasteful Slim was crap Kingy was tidy Why not put Wasyl on for 5 minutes See you in August.
Matt Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Well, thank god it's over. That feels abit hollow I know, but the league has been nothing short of disappointing and at times embarrasing. 12th place, on one hand given where we were a Christmas it's quite good, on the other, not good enough. This season will be remembered for the Champions League solely, memories that like last season will never be forgotten, i'll try however to forget the league. Quite a miserable and depressing post, sorry, but onwards and upwards, sort the management position out, some players want to and will go, hopefully some bad transfers and deadwood will be offloaded, I just hope that's done quickly and correctly and recruitment is done well this summer an interesting and hopefully exciting summer ahead.
kingfox Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 What a rollercoaster of a season. First things first, Wasyl As for the match it was a game of two halves. First half we were fvcking woeful, as bad as we were against Spurs, couldn't keep the ball and our shape was all over the place. Second half was a different story, we showed effort, fight and we pressed more. Everyone picked up their game especially the midfield and Slimani. King and Ndidi looked like passengers in the first half, second half they were everywhere. As for MOTM I'd say Chilwell again, definitely our biggest positive from the last three games, brilliant defensively, brilliant going forward and a perfect cross that led to the goal. Roll on next season, big summer ahead especially recruitment wise.

I totally disagree, it's neither miserable or depressing .... what it is is honest and heart-felt and I know this because I'm on exactly the same page .... roll on next season and let's see the 'fearless' back again ....

Guest Col city fan Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 There seems to be some real positive bias in here for Slimani, with some posters not budging an inch on how utterly fantastic he is. Personally I'm torn..the jury is still out. The chances he missed today SHOULD be meat and drink for a top level striker. No excuses. He had time with both and should have buried at least one of them. His footwork seems clumsy and he seems to have no understanding of Vardy (and vice verca). BUT....i kinda think with him, if he regains his confidence, he could score tons of goals. He knows where to be. It's no coincidence that the chances he fluffed came to HIM. Such a frustrating striker. It's another Beckford situation all over again.
AjcW Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 I do wish Was had come on! We'd have lost against Everton away last season without him, a win I personally believe sent us on our way to the unimaginable.
foxes21 Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Benalouane, King, Slimani & Albrighton were poor. Everyone else was good. Gray, finally in the last game of the season decided to return to doing the simple things. Not holding the ball for long, releasing it quickly and moving into space. Reminded me of his first six months here. Wish Wasilewski came on
ThurmastonFox Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Slimanis first touch today was shocking. Didn't appear to want to pass to Vardy most of the time and really got a rollicking from Albrighton in the first half. Mahrez played like like someone who didn't want to pick up an injury before a move. An odd game. Weird end of season atmosphere. At least it wasn't 6-1. Who were the pictures of duting during the lap of honour.

Pretty much this. But I would also add Mahrez to the crap list, I thought he really looked like he doesn't care anymore, and I thought Chilwell had a good game. And why does nobody sing in G1 near the back? SK1 are loud, but nobody joins in.

Then again, some of them don't seem to be much a gene pool away from Neanderthal man.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Thought Amartey and Fuchs was much, much better than Benny and Fuchs. For a CB, DA's passing looks tidy enough, imho. Football is a lot easier technically, when almost the whole game is in front of you. I reckon Shakey doesn't think he is really big and strong enough for a regular CB in a 4. Classic utility player trap looming?

His passing was crisp and accurate except for one ball after about 80 ish mins where he tried to slide it right and gave it to an oncoming midfielder in a dangerous position. That could have been costly. Other than that..good.

dynamark Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Slim was issuing orders to everyone first half which may be a sign of some passion but perhaps not endearing him to teammates. I thought Riyad put a good shift in got himself a booking for doing the right thing and getting stuck in. Vardy goal looked good and we were dead in line We were the better team pity about the indecision first minute.
Ian Nacho Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 The first half was one of the worst halves of football I've seen all season, even if it did get better for the last 10 minutes of the first half. Defensively we looked at sixes and sevens and the midfield left Vardy and Slimani isolated through a lack of service. We just made it too easy for them at times through not pressing them. Although we did improve in the second half and could have won the game, in the end, a lot of improvement is needed because judging of that first half we're not causing teams enough problems and we can't defend, however, it is understood that is nowhere near our starting back 4.
Thracian Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 1 hour ago, Redouane said: Its weird.. When everyone thinks Mahrez played well, I think he played sub par. He lost the ball way more than usual IMO. Any winger taking on defenders as constantly as Mahrez did today is going to lose the ball sometimes. My only criticism of him was taking people on and losing the ball in his own defensive half but there weren't many passing options on some of those occasions and he was not the only culprit. Generally though Mahrez posed a significant danger and might so easily have had even greater effect. Both his delievery and variety of final passing as dangerous if not always perfect and a bonus was his willingness to fight for the ball and even do a bit of defending on occasions. Quite apart from Vardy's disallowed goal - I've not seen a replay but almost everyone seems to think it should have stood - we had chances to win the game by a distance. Bournemouth bested the first 20-25 minutes courtesy of our inexplicably careless start that cost a goal and disturbed our conviction. Thereafter we played quite well and with lots of invention and threat going forward - if still remaining uncertain at the back. King made a massive difference today, saving one likely goal with a near post header and playing a part in a whole lot of our best moves. Like everyone else he made errors too but, basically, he anchored the team and delivered the short, sharp passes that are so necessary for relieving pressure and breaking at pace and in numbers. Man of the Match? I don't know. Maybe him, maybe Mahrez. Who cares, Albrighton too was much improved, N'didi pretty combative most of the time, Schmeichel solid when called on and much more accurate with his distribution than against Spurs and I also saw the makings of an unnatural partnership between him and scorer Vardy for perhaps the first time. Forget that Slimani didn't score and certainly should have scored from his late header back across goal from the far post. But he got into all sorts of dangerous scoring positions with only his delayed decision-making, inaccuracy or determined defending that prevented him getting one or even more goals. Altogether it was quite a positive draw in the last hour or so and I thought the way we signed off the season afterwards was a credit to the club. Any send off that leaves Waso in tears had to sit a bit special in the memory. I liked the players best wishes and to see our owners showing their appreciation to the fans was Top class, literally. I wonder how many owners could bring their close families out to say such a thankyou and get universal applause from their fans. It made me proud to be part of it all and showed what a club spirit we have between all the ups and downs of our many and various debates. There's more to be done yet but as I said to my youngest son on the way home - we've sure had some special memories to share of late - and today was no different seeing his head bowed in emotion on the centre circle. What a send off. What a guy. And exactly the respect he deserved. , . .

In a less physical league, he might well be a top CB, but in the PL he would probably be targeted (much like Benny has been), when opposing teams need a goal.
