Bayfox Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Mahrez loses the ball because he's always cutting back onto his left foot. It's so easy to defend against. Can we just get that out there. And stop blaming it on having 2 or 3 players on him. In the 1st half it dropped to his right foot at the far post. Should have just driven it across the box. No he takes a touch brings it onto his left peg again and drills it at the keeper complete waste. He's been class for us in patches but this year he's been proven to be a 1 trick pony and he's been worked out. I'm not sure he will look loads better in a better side. Because if he can't find a pass when he has 3 players marking him meaning free bodies elsewhere i can't see how he will become a world beater when all defenders now know he will always come inside.

Fox92 Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Bournemouth surprised me. Their football was superb - fast, attacking, great movement, fluid... Howe has done wonders at the club, their fans must be pinching themselves finishing so high up in the top flight. I thought first half they deserved about 3 goals. We were shocking. Second half we were slightly better but still not great. Miles off the top clubs and thanks to Shakespeare for stabling us but not the manager to lead us forward.

Ndidi and amarty offer promise - we know how far drinky (he can boss a pl game when fit) and kingy (safe but not a game changer at pl level) can go. we don't know the limit of these two guys... yet
Monk Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 To concede that goal in the first minute was nothing short of criminal. How many times have we been at sixes and sevens from kickoff. Unacceptable. Much better in the second half. Thought the disallowed goal was onside at the time haven't seen a replay but I was sat level with the box in main stand. Slim should have put that back post header away and we were just a bit of quality away from winning the game convincingly. Feel we are in a strange predicament now. So many moving parts - the players, manager, backroom staff. Hope we can get our business done early and prepare properly!

People calling Shakey for not playing Wasy but then demanding he went for the win. One minute people call him a soft touch and over friendly with the players then he is a proper b#####rd for not bringing on Wasy. Our CL campaign will live in the memory forever but it is hard to say how much that took out of us. Look at Spurs they have had a cracking season yet failed in 2 European competitions so without a European adventure next season we can look to move up the table and maybe challenge for a cup. Last summer the club was damned whatever they did, Kante was not going to stay and we can see why and we paid top dollar to keep our league winning team on better contracts. We spent over £80 million on bringing in new players and had owners with the courage to sack our greatest ever manager to worldwide condemnation and brand image damage. As an old timer think we need to get behind the owners and trust them with what they do this summer and whoever the appoint and bring in or sell and if players do not to be here, whoever they are it is time to move them on but on our terms. Players have had a season here to settle and we can look to build. We also missed Morgan and Huth and with DD had a big hole ripped from the spine of the team. Up the Foxes Stop talking sense
smr Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 did kasper come back out on to the pitch? at full time he just waltzed straight down the tunnel which was a bit unusual for him.
AmarteyAndChill Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Borunemoth are a very good side, didn't even have their best player playing today.

st albans fox Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Anyone else of the opinion that the ref told the fourth official to let our bench know benny was on his last last warning? shakey seemed keen to let him know why he had hooked him in some detail and given the amartey/Fuchs axis from Thursday, I doubt we were keen to rekindle it without good reason.

To be fair a lot of it is double marking but then that is the best way to deal with a player who cuts in, it's not ideal for a full back as the winger cutting in puts the emphasis on their strong side and your weak one in most cases but as they are moving inside the pitch and slowing their advance in the process it's easy to set yourself up to have someone helping the full back out shutting the space inside down leaving them nowhere to go. And that happens a lot with mahrez these days. But yeah you are right, he is a bit too predictable too damage teams as much as many world level wingers do on a consistent basis, in this team anyway.
foxes21 Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 We've had a lack of intensity in our pressing for most of the season. The only person in our midfield today that was capable of putting in a tackle today was Ndidi. King for example, had good positional awareness but instead of going to challenge the opposition, he stands off. We need aggression all over the pitch to play our style effectively.

One bloke near me took great offence to the Cambiasso song though......
Milo Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Kasper/Simpson/Fuchs were ok. Benny/Slim were poor. King and Albrighton were innefective. Chilwell, N'Didi and Vardy were good...and Riyad just looked a little bit...meh

BenTheFox Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Some of the reactions on here... We've had key players out for the past few games. The only recent game where we played REALLY badly was Spurs at home. The last three games hasn't 'exposed' Shakespeare as a manager, but has highlighted the need for investment in the squad. I felt that we deserved to win today and the second half performance was much more like it.
Corky Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 First half an hour was terrible, remaining 60 was improved and we should've won the game and finished in the top half but 12th is about right. This league campaign has been mediocre at best and I'm glad it's over now with relegation avoided. We have plenty of work to do to improve and again to end with no recognised centre backs on the pitch is ridiculous and highlights how poorly this squad was put together (I know Wasilewski could've played). Very few highlights in the league I'm afraid and that is a shame.
CosbehFox Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 You know what was sad? Nearly every PL club in the country gives a chance to an academy youngster on the last day of the season. Other than Barnes (who couldn't play), we have literally no one considered good enough to play fifteen minutes of a PL game.

To be fair we've given Ben Chilwell a chance for more than just the last game of the season. I understand your point though. I'd love to see more players coming through the academy.
martyn Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Not read the thread fully so may have been mentioned, but not sure I've ever seen a worse sub performance than that of Jordan Ibe today. He did absolutely nothing right.
Twitcher Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 To be fair I was level with the disallowed goal and he did look off in real time. Really surprised to hear he was on. We needed the three points. Agree with Shaky not making sentimental substitution.
