I dont think CS, has done himself any favours publicly outing Mahrez as Tom Hanks in Terminal on Friday. 

I bet that went down like a lead balloon...

 

Is mahrez the sole problem?? No

 

But i do think he should be dropped after looking like he couldn't be arsed against Liverpool

The commentators remarked that he headed straight down the tunnel instead of going to sit with the reserves on the bench when subbed off.

 

Spose he might have been desperate for a dump or something...

Just went back to the game, what a shambles that was :nigel:

 

Riyad truly had a bipolar game (defensively), he was sharp as a knife intercepting the ball

Your are now probably thinking to yourself  "alright! Way to go riyad lad, didn't even think that you have that in your locker, more of that pls"

 

.......... There is only 1 problem! We got ABSOLUTELY EXPOSED!!! Carved up like a Thanksgiving turkey! Played right into liverpools hand!

 

Some genius got this idea that he should send a right winger into the middle knowing full well that you have a RB that likes to tuck in and play as 3rd CB, and guess what was the result............ AN ABSOLUTE CIRCUS! Color me surprised! (This truly got on my nerves)

 

And before anyone jumps the gun, i'm not shifting the criticism away from riyad, absolutely not!

 

And here where the "bipolar" part comes into play! Yes he was great intercepting the ball, but tracking back? :nono: ( some of it because he was drifting inside too much, but still)

That's what putting riyad in the middle gets you, easily overrun! And why is simpson there? Shouldn't a midfielder be there? (Do we even have one?)

Here what's even more mind boggling! Simpson was in the middle! Its already bad enough that you have riyad in front of you, what were you thinking, simmo!

 

.......and here's the punch to the gut, That foul resulted into coutinho's free kick goal :facepalm:

It was a free-kick from the middle, Kasper should have gotten himself a yard more to the left, that could've saved it.

 

Some of the players were just out of it! N'didi had a good performance but he just blacked out and started jogging back to the defense even though simmo and wes were out numbered and Henderson was alone

Worst of all, he didn't pick up his speed or anything, he just gave up!

Simmo giving coutinho too much space to cross and Ben failing to clear the ball cost the team a goal!

 

Again, not trying to switch the blame, riyad should've done better, a lot better! Just pointing out the defensive mistakes.

 

That's 3 goals from 3 mistakes, letting pool have the left side killed the team. That was naive from shakey, but I will give credit where credit is due, when he put gray on, he didn't make the same mistake by telling him to drift inside, that stretched the field and allowed to team to play better football!

 

I think this is what's frustrating people, it's simple mistakes costing the team points :nigel:

Geez oh mighty

He had ONE great season. 

Its not superb for a player to be great, one season out of 3.  A great player does it season after season.

 

Keeping or signing players who have very obviously dropped off, and show no sign of returning to form - is something we like to do in America.

Mahrez has not shown the ability to be a starter since early 2016.  Unfortunately, the rest of the team is not good enough to succeed with him (and a few others) being "given" starting spots week after week.

Mahrez, currently, doesn't deserve to continue starting games; it's advised to temporarily use him as a substitute and replace him with Gray at the start - until Mahrez sees why this decision has been made, in the hope that he improves.

Hopefully I can tone down my outward displays of disdain.

Since he made his wishes public, the guy can go die a footballers death with Forest as far as I'm concerned.

 

Harsh......yes, but it's not like he hasn't had people around him to navigate the basic football fan mentality.

Mahrez is wasted on the wing anyway. He doesn't receive the ball often enough from our usual midfield players. He should be the CAM, he has the skill to ping the ball to either Albrighton or Gray on the wings so they can get the crosses in, or a killer pass to Vardy. He would worry any opposition centre half.

Also as a winger he is always being forced to track back and help out the full backs. A complete waste of time and energy for a player of his skill. He is not a great defender/tackler

Daily Mirror mentions that Arsenal and Spurs want Mahrez in January.

If we're not in the top-ten come then, I'd personally would consider letting him go tbh.

One of the reasons we are in this mess is the fact we have continued to play Mahrez for 12 months when totally out of form.

 

Thats very very bad for squad morale.

 

Whats worse is having a player that doesn’t want to be at the club.

 

I was an advocate for selling at the time to Roma.

 

This is notwithstanding the fact the club has turned into a total mess since the title win.

I'd agree in principle of selling him as to me I can't ever see him playing anywhere near to his level here again, however I'd still want a decent amount of cash or at the very least a lot of add ons as it'd kill me seeing him do well at another club having got him cheap(ish).

Coutinho does play on the left. But he plays in a side that actually plays football.
