I’ve always like the idea of signing him, and Geoff has hinted at this possibly happening again in the musa thread. 

 

I was willing to overlook Mazarri falling out with him and leaving him out because he seems a nutter, but to see Marco silva go out of his way to sign two new strikers, one a like for like replacement, makes me think he doesn’t rate him either and I respect him as a coach.

 

I just think he’s over the hill, if we’re going to drop 20m surely there’s some elements of our scouting team left that can go and find a young striker!

if there is any reality in this Deeney rumour, then I suggest the proposed 20m is spent upon up-grading the DoF and the entire recruitment/scouting team as this lot have cost us dear over the past 12 months.

Surprised Watford rejected it, deeney isn't worth anywhere near that... like the lucky escape we had with Maynard

We'll be playing once a week and our front two will be Iheanacho and Vardy.

 

Our other three strikers are all around 30 years of age, why would we spend a big fee on a 6th forward who is around 30 years of age?

It'd still be a yes from me - Vardy, Iheanacho, Slimani & Deeney would give us better options than we have now (and finally allow us to offload Ulloa!).

Genuine physicality and agression at that end of the pitch we've lacked for a long time.

 

He's the kind of striker defenders hate.  Snidy, dirty but with quality also.

 

Seeing as they've signed replacements, go back with £25m and gerrimin.

In our title winning season we got by with Vardy, Okazaki and Ulloa as our strikers.

 

We'll have a similar amount of games this season and it's clear as day our front two will be Iheanacho and Vardy. Considering there has been been no concrete links to Slimani, Okazaki and Ulloa all summer why on earth would you want us to bring in a sixth striker to sit on the bench who is at the wrong end of his career and cost us another £18m and £70k or whatever a week?

Yes we can't possibly buy another striker unless we've lined up at least one or two to go. I'd be happy to wave goodbye to Musa & leo and get Troy. Good options, but probably still top heavy. 4 strikers is really ample.

Fair enough - because we would need the width but the wingers we have are not wing backs - Chilwell is possibly the closest we have to this at the moment I guess.

 

I'd worry about that formation defensively tbh.

There has been no indication that Shaky wants to play that formation.

 

Also we don't have enough possession to afford to be able to play three strikers.

 

We will never pick a team that starts with three strikers. If Deeney comes here he comes as a sub which is why it will never happen because it's bad business for us and a bad move for him.
