De Boar Gone

It's crazy enough expecting immediate results from a new manager, but when he's been asked to completely change the style of play too? What did Parish expect? They've screwed over a kind fixture list having said that but if you change style then it's gonna need some bedding in time.

Woy lol

Hodgson will be good for a club like Palace. His England job clouds some of your judgement, his record in England is okay with clubs the size of Palace.

The jobs he did at Fulham and West Brom were superb, he guided Fulham to the Europa League final. Okay, the Liverpool stint was poor but that's a big jump in club size and expectation.

Palace board or whoever signed FDB should also go.

They made the appointment of a guy not exactly in the same mould as Allardyce or Pulis....their club is set up to be under a guy like that. Not a manager who wants the ball always on the deck

Ok, Palace looked dirge in the first 3 games but it seems incredibly harsh on the back of yesterdays performance where they were the better team by far and with a little more composure (take note Jeff) they could have taken 3 points.

I'm sure I'm probably repeating other posts here but to expect someone to install their vision immediately is short sighted in the extreme.

Simply another confirmation of the depressing short term outlook an ocean of cash has brought to the premier league.

That said, I've never particulary been keen on Palace so I don't really care how they do anyway.

Yeh, as long as he's not getting Benteke to take the corners! lol

Just shows you any idiot can run a football club, Parish (if he actually was taking responsibility like he says) should be gone as well.

Most neutrals questioned the appointment due to the playing style issue - and low and behold its four games later and he's been sacked. Everyone saw it coming but yet their chairman was clueless to it, mental.

If he had any sense now's the time to double Allardyce's money and get him back pronto - he's one of the few who could save them, i fear for them under Roy - it's been a while since he's managed in the Prem and it's much more competitive now than it was back then.

Bit random but I know a guy who worked under Parish back in the day, reckons he's an angry, emotional guy lol. However the Palace lot I know reckon it's the Americans on the board behind these decisions.

Haha i got that impression of him just watching interviews over the years, an interesting character no doubt lol

Yeah it very well could be the American board but it seems odd that Parish has held his hands up to it himself with his tweets, i'd imagine he wouldn't have blamed himself if he had been forced to take De Boer on by the board - he probably would have found a better way to word it (or thrown some bombs elsewhere knowing him) so i can imagine he's the guy thats made the mistake here, but who knows! Either way they are in trouble and im glad i'm not them :scarf:

EDIT - from Chris Sutton's BBC article

"Parish wanted something different from Allardyce's approach, however.

When he got the job, De Boer went through an interview process with Parish, who said he wanted a manager who would change their style of play, and also someone who would be a long-term appointment too"

See our fans have talked about us getting a new gaffa in and changing how we play, this is why i'm glad we stuck with Shakey instead - four games in and basically Parish has chickened out cause no one can afford to get relegated anymore.

Their last four managers were Pulis, Warnock, Pardew and Allardyce. It's going to take a long time to get rid of that sort of style when it's so deeply engrained in the club. Hodgson is a sensible move if you think about it but you have to question what was the point of appointing De Boer in the first place, the poor guy was on a hiding to nothing.

is it harsh? aye, is it the right decision? aye. Should never been appointed in the first place, he's a gaffer with one plan and isn't flexible enough to work with the resources at his disposal. Huge **** up by the board, but fair enough for taking it pretty early. They kinda remind me of QPR a few seasons ago under Hughes, if they'd have sacked him earlier they'd have probably managed to stay up.

a bit like playing sonic the hedgehog, dying about 20 seconds into the first level, turning of the mega drive and starting againlol

probably feared by the time de boer had them playing his way, they'd be too far adrift.

shame, their plight had me feeling a liitle better about our current situation.

Palace were already thinking of replacing de Boer two weeks' ago..

Hodgson has quite a massive challenge now, then.

Can imagine them defending deeply and going on the counter-attack to try and solve the collective issues of conceding and not scoring.

But personally think they'll be angry and actually will beat Southampton on home soil (who have performed quite underwhelmingly thus far, themselves).

You can't give someone 4 games and then react. I mean we gave Claudio enough time and he didn't change. He should have at least until January
