Toby Blair deserves his knighthood.

The more i think about this, the more i agree... if they continue giving a knighthood to war criminals, paedophiles and corrupt little criminals... surely the knighthood will loose its lustre and just become a laughing stock like most of royalty and lords in general

I must have missed the part where he's been charged with any war crimes, come back to me when that happens

So to be clear... you are only concerned about people "charged" with offences... not them committing them?

You, me...He... we all know they were wrong to go to war.... they killed possibly millions and destroyed the lives of tens of millions...for $ and... oil, everybody knows that.

But if a corrupt system prevents someone from being charged... thats ok.

Chilcot report....

The report found that in the run-up to the war, peaceful diplomatic options to avoid instability and WMD proliferation had not been exhausted, and that the war was therefore "not a last resort".[5][39] Intervention might have become necessary later, but at the time of the invasion of Iraq in 2003, Saddam Hussein did not pose an immediate threat and the majority of the UN Security Council supported the continuation of UN weapons inspections and monitoring.[39]

Some MI6 staff had also expressed concerns about the quality of its source – in particular, noting that an inaccurate detail about storing chemical weapons in glass containers[46] appeared to have been taken from Michael Bay's film The Rock

Western exceptionalism is knighting a man who's actions led to the death of millions of people including innocent Iraqi men woman and children of all kinds, British service members and others. He's a devil and if he were a dictator from an underdeveloped nation he'd be either executed or tried in the hague. I'm not calling for him to be executed but he should be tried in the hague for serious crimes against humanities, just like Bush Obama camron and the lot of them. Should rot just as nazi war criminals did.

Some might ask why i didn't include despotic dictators like putin and Xi, who are just as bad. Well they don't go around claiming they are democracies and such. They're hypocrites but at least they're openly authoritarian. All of these leaders mentioned are to be blamed for the horrible state of our world.

Tbf everybody seems to get them nowadays anyway so they're a laughing stock anyway.

Even sports people only have to overachieve once and they're straight in for an MBE or equivalent.

Don't mention that.

Regarding MBEs, I suppose they could always eventually do what the chap in your avatar did.

wtf is he being knighted for?!

You realise he hasn’t been nominated for a knighthood, don’t you? You do understand that this is an award from Queeny for being an ex-PM which, given time and deaths, is awarded to all ex-PMs? Please say you appreciate this because is gets shot of all the bullshit debate as to whether or not he should get it. Like Major before him, and Brown the next in line, it will continue for as long as there is a monarchy. Believe it or not, the same award will be made to Johnson, the single most inept PM this country has ever witnessed.

Never seen Withnail... but the others are imo simply brilliant, however as with most things from the past... but especially music... you quite often "had to be there"

Music is often a direct link back to a memory... both of those films/shows take me back to some very good times, as i watch more and more things from my past, i often cannot enjoy them because of theoutdated opinions, actions and concepts... these two however, receive a pass for me :)

Any movie that has a car being driven at Nazi's forcing them to jump into a river is brilliantlol

I know I shouldn't get involved in political discussions, I try to avoid any comment but in this case I let myself down again with the tone of my post. I'm sorry. It won't happen again (probably/possibly/hopefully).

Couples should only be allowed to have a maximum of two children, to deter the risk of an ever-increasing population and climate change.

I agree with the premise that consistent population increase is not good, but it is a matter of evidence that once a nation develops to a certain level the birth rate drops naturally without much government intervention anyway.

Can't stop people from having kids. We don't live in somesort of Nazi state.

I do think they should be able to prove that they can afford to support the children. Candice knocking out 4 kids to get a free gaff isn't doing anyone a favour.

Whilst this is morally true, if we don't resolve our rate of population growth legally and/or socially ourselves as a species then nature will resolve it for us and I promise you we'll like that less.

I agree with this. Child benefit should be capped at a certain amount. If people choose to have kids after that then that's their lookout and up to them to pay for them by getting off their arses and getting jobs.

Huge leap there to assume people with larger families and/or who claim child benefit don't have jobs.

Hasn't it just tried that to some degree?

So much less you'll need a fvcking election microscope to see exactly how much less.

But I do think that regs regarding it may be unnecessary as per above.
