My predictions:

LCFC: Draw at Newcastle, beat West Ham.

Forest: Lose against Arsenal, draw at Palace.

Leeds: Draw with West Ham, lose against Tottenham.

Everton: Lose against Wolves, beat Bournemouth.

Judging by the amount of screwed up stories there are regarding children and parents bringing them up, clearly not everyone capable to being parents should be parents and maybe (but I have no idea how this could work) there should be some kind of qualification for it?

There is for adoption, after all, but then I guess things don't always go amazing there either.

Licensing for the right to have children is a slippery route that manner believe ends with a form of eugenics.

It doesn't sit well with me.

Agreed, it's a frankly unpleasant thing to say. I am however curious regarding enforcement of our new world order. Do we castrate those we deem "unworthy", criminalise sex or just dispose of the infants when born?

Yeah, I know the idea itself seems pretty damn unethical which is why it's in this thread in the first place - it's not going to sit right with a lot of people, with good reason. Nor would I have any idea of how exactly such a thing would be enforced.

However, there is a precedent (adoption) and if anyone has a potential solution to the problem above (parents that clearly cannot hack being parents) that causes terrible distress to a great many innocent people in a great many places, I'd be all ears. Perhaps better enforcement of existing child protection laws (but then often the damage is already mostly done)?

Probably helping people to care for their kids well, and taking them into care when they cannot or will not.

Improving on the system we have, then? Fair enough. But I think there's a lot of improvement required, if current evidence is any judge.

Eddie Howe is a decent manager, but he's not some miricle worker that people are making out.

Every Newcastle fan will tell you Steve Bruce is the worst manager they've ever had. He was useless on every level, tactically and motivationally. The atmosphere was similar to what we had here under Rodgers. That Bruce team was easily good enough to be midtable when he had them struggling at the bottom. Basically Howe has come in and spent £200m to £300m turning a midtable team into a team challenging for Europe, taking advantage of Liverpool and Chelsea's struggles.

None of this is to say he's a bad manager or has a bad team around him. He's made the place happier, got them playing more effective football and they've had to sign the right players. But he's not turned a really poor team into a top team, he's got the potential out of what was a half decent squad to begin with and then added to £300m worth of signings to it.

Not exactly my opinion, but got me thinking as I'm struggling to think of a good refutation:

What, exactly, is the difference between the five people stranded at the bottom of the Atlantic now and the 500+ on the boat that is now at the bottom of the Mediterranean after the events of last Wednesday, that means that vast amount of expense and time is being spent on the former and much less on the latter?

All of the answers I'm considering are rather unpleasant ones.

And we seem OK with people putting themselves in danger for nothing more that a leisure project, but people trying to better their lives we're not OK with. Both sets of people have put themselves in danger, but one is desperate and the other is just pissing about.

That was one of the unpleasant conclusions that popped into my mind.

And, as usual, they then put other people at risk who have to go and try and find them.

But all for 250k a ticket apparently! Think of what you could do with that money instead.

Titanic is a part of history, I'm sure we'd all be interested in looking at it, but not when it's miles at the bottom of the ocean. I just can't get my head around the decision to think going down in that capsule is a good idea.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Multiple examples of this. Look at the West's difference in reaction to Russia's illegal war in Ukraine and Saudi's illegal destruction of Yemen.

$$$$$$$$$$$$ is the only thing that matters in the world whether we like it or not.

Another unpleasant conclusion I drew, yes.

Though the last sentence may not, will not, apply always. There's a host of examples showing that, and frankly our species has to be better anyway.

Whiteness is the difference. And money.

Daily mail headline - white billionaire in trouble.

Whiteness = money. You see comments on Twitter and tbf on this forum about eating the rich. If you live in the uk with your house and roof and food and car and mobile phone and tv and 3 meals a day and alcohol and week in Benidorm and pointless pursuits like going to watch 22 men kick a ball around etc etc etc you are richer than probably 99% of people that have ever lived.
