Watched a couple of U21s and he has looked very good. You can tell he's played in a full league before. However, it will be a jump to not only play in the prem, but in a side lacking confidence. Also, I don't think he'll suit a 2man midfield. A 3 with him as the top maybe, but just think it's the wrong time. Maybe worth a shout against Leeds though.

Problem with starting him against Leeds is that, if he scores a hattrick on his debut, he could end up going down the same routes as Schlupp and Dodoo.

Schlupp became a regular and netted us £12m. How would that be a problem?

Definitely needs a run-out against Leeds in the form he's in. He deserves a crack.

I agree that blooding him in PL games is a risk with the way we're playing. But if he has a blinder against Leeds then he might give Shakey a headache and he could be the shot in the arm we need. Could be.

Think this guy deserves his own thread to get him into the first team.

Two goals tonight for Wales U21s to add to his glut of goals and assists for the development team recently.

Things are so stagnant with the first team at the moment that I really do feel this guy deserves a chance, if not only from the bench,...

I like your enthusiasm but he's looked very lightweight when I've seen him play. Similar to Kapustka.

Won’t happen. Destined for Barnsley then stuck behind Leo who will get another 10 year contract extension.

A shoe in for a place in the squad vs Leeds surely? I know we've so many strikers and wingers but he needs to be rewarded for his form, he's far too good for U23 football and a lot of lower league football. He needs to be in the Championship, seems very talented.

But he won't, because bloody Ulloa will be shoehorned in as a token gesture. That's me really hoping he's not starting with Slimani again.

Would like to see him go on loan at a league 1 club, playing under 23 football is no substitute for competitive senior football like he was playing last season for Coventry.

I honestly forgot we'd ever signed him...

So has Shakey...... Never mind though Leo and King will be in the mix for selection - happy days.

He's literally nothing like Kapustka.

Said in the u23 thread that if there isn’t at least 3 of this season top performers on the bench against Leeds then I’ll give up any hope.

Think I'd struggle to pick three who deserve it, we've been pretty bloody awful when I've watched. Thomas has stood out a mile.

No chance we'll be picking three when we have the size of squad we have and players who need minutes to stay sharp.

Should have a go in the league cup, he's far too good for the under 23s, if we can get a decent loan spell for him that would be decent.

.... before he ends up at Chesterfield on a free.

Again you fail to understand.

He's a lightweight - like Kapustka. He couldn't stand up to the physicality of the Prem at the moment.

I know what you mean, would maybe just be nice to see Thomas, Hamza and maybe Hughes or Gordon... at least those ones that have been signed anyway.

You're right though the minutes go first to the squad players, i've always thought though that as the manager if you can look at the bench and think there's no way 3 of them are getting on at any point in this game (sub GK, and two first team lads who you don't really want to risk putting on) then why not just make that 3 the youth lads

Funny how people see things so differently, I've seen him 3-4 times now and he reminds me of the way Sanchez stalks the opposition and I think he's quite commanding on the ball, I don't see him being lightweight at all but obviously it could be different in the PL.

The beauty of how we play, you don't need to be match fit or sharp.

No, I understand what you are saying, you're just wrong or watching the wrong player. I've watched the U21 games and he's absolutely nothing like Kapustka. He looked completely lost in those games, Thomas has been pretty combative and stood out a mile.

He's nothing close to being light weight, how anyone (not saying you two) comes to that conclusion from those games I find beyond belief.
