Most people of non-Christian faiths I know celebrate Christmas in some way. It's a fun holiday and it should be the more the merrier. Same reason I used to join my neighbours in celebrating diwali. 

 

People take this religion nonsense far too seriously.

Lets be honest, Christmas in the UK is now nothing more than keeping some shops in business - its a commercial event. It should be positive that more people are involved, whether you are religious or not.

Whilst I'm mostly "meh" about this,it does seem that Christianity and its rituals are more able to be monkeyed around with, because Christians will lump it.

 

Looking forward to a large company 

"stretching the boundaries" like this when it comes to Ramadan or Eid.

I'm still waiting for that branch of Tesco that refused to serve members of the armed forces in uniform but doesn't exist to close down.

 

Political correctness gone mad etc.

You'd probs have to ask someone who believes in that stuff, rather than a raging atheist like me, but it appears to me a reasonable assumption that genuine believers really do associate Christmas with the birth of Christ.

My kids call it Santa day lol

Ot really annoys the mother in law (who is a bible basher), which is a big enough reason to not correct them.

Funny thing is how Christians are so offended by such an ad, but in the context of Christmas and Jesus' birth usually tend to forget the biblical Magi who allegedly pampered the newborn child with all sorts of expensive gifts.

The Three Wise Men were Arabian, Persian and Indian. :whistle:

Again, I’m not here to speak for believing Christians, but I would think that they could feel that the origins of their faith and rituals don’t make these any less meaningful to them, and, as I posted before, there are probably some Christians who believe that Christmas has something to do with Christ.

All religions are a waste of time imo ...   just think how many people have died because of them ...   but then again if we didn't have them I'm sure we'd would find something else to have a scrap about.

Its a celebration of the Winter solstace so exchanging presents drinking and having fun is fine by me. You can buy Pagan cards but they are not sold in Tesco. No doubt there are plenty of Christans that buy cards mince pies and other festive shops from corner shops run by Muslims and the shopkeepers are quite happer to sell non Muslim items.

BTW Islam is an  offshoot of Christianity. They worship similar gods just different names and slightly different rules apart from the one about kill all heathens.

How strange, Tesco actually put an advert up with a Muslim family doing exactly what any right minded person should want i.e integrating and getting involved in the customs and culture of the country and then they moan about it. Unbelievable.

 

Although reading the article it looks like a few idiots on Twitter rather than an organised boycott, which is the epicentre of human idiocy these days.
