Free Falling Foxes Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 What's special about kicking a ball into an empty net?
steveherbe Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 Over that range? Superb technical skill, in my opinion.
bovril Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 I think Mahrez's was better. Vardy's finish was a great bit of skill but you could do it 10 times and it'd go in once or twice. Mahrez's was all his own work.
ZeGuy Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 Vardy's was incredible, but Rooney gets it from me. Good to have scored two worldies against Spuds though.
FoxesDeb Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 Mahrez all day long. It's one of those goals that gets better every time I watch it
Tuna Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 Two or Three of those would be goal of the month winners normally. Such quality to pick from.
holyfox Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 Mahrez or Vardy, both better than Rooney’s. He basically caught it sweetly and it went in a straight line. If that was a long crossfield ball to a winger, we’d be saying it was great, but did it have the same level of skill as Vardy’s both feet off the ground, deft lob? Or Maheez’s Which he started near our own penalty area and ended finishing off? Keeper was miles off his line and he basically hit it sweet, big deal
Jaspa Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 Rooney had no pressure on him, open goal. You'd expect a pro to be able to do that half the time, even a non-pro probably one in ten Still getting overrated imo

Rooney's goal was great but it was an open goal.
The whole world smiles Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 Brilliant to get 2 goals from one match in the goal of the month. Anyone remember this ever happening before?
kushiro Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 I'm going to hijack this Vardy and Mahrez show and turn it shamelessly into a Shinji love-fest. Vardy's goal gets my vote - and one reason I love it so much is that it underlined Shinji's value to the team so strongly. Rewind the video in your mind's eye - you'll see Albrighton's peach of a cross, and before that, Maguire's smart pass out to the wing. Now go back further. OK - that might be asking too much. No doubt when the BBC show the goal it will just be from Maguire's pass onwards. But the preceding passage of play was just as important. Let's call it the Shinji Show - in which a one-man ball of energy softens up Spurs for the killer punch that followed immediately afterwards. It's a period of just 18 seconds, and in that time Shinji does all of the following: 1) Ambushes Sissoko - forcing him to give the ball away to Ndidi 2) Runs inside to make himself available for a pass from Ndidi 3) Receives the pass from Ndidi and makes a lightning-quick turn away from Sissoko 4) Wins a free kick as Sissoko trips him up 5) Gets back up instantly with the ball still at his feet, allowing the ref to wave play on 6) Wins another free kick as Sissoko kicks him 7) Still manages to lay the ball off to Ndidi, allowing the ref to wave play on again 8) (After Ndidi feeds Albrighton, whose pass to Vardy is cut out) Dashes 30 yards forward to pressurize Dembele, who's forced to pass backwards to Dier 9) Dashes forward again to pressurize Dier, who givies the ball away to Iborra. Iborra then plays it inside to Maguire, and you know the rest. Fast forwarding the video is also very revealing - after several team mates have congratulated Vardy on the goal, Shinji gets his turn, and gives Vardy a celebratory pat on the head. And what does Vardy do? He returns the gesture - as if to say 'Cheers - I had the spectacular finish, but without you it wouldn't have happened'.
Guest the fox Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 the mahrez goal for me, it was truly a team goal against a strong side, it started from our own half, the transition was so smooth it was a joy to watch. plus, what makes the goal for me are the fans, shouting "shoooot" and second later exploding with roars when riyad burried it. amazing!
ozleicester Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 Def rooney.... he didnt just hit and hope, he didnt just chip, he hit with power, precision and incredible timing

That famous Bergkamp hat trick in the 3-3 at Filbert Street had two make the top three.
Sir Shep Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 Glad I’m not the only one who thinks Rooneys goal is over rated, it was an empty goal after all!

I’ve got a feeling we have had before with spurs, the one we’re muzzy scored a tremendous long range volley and Heskey scored from the edge with a brilliant spin. Was that the same game? edit found it https://youtu.be/t7NYtRyQO-4

Can't find the goal of the month video or list for October 98, but the Heskey v Arsenal goal was in the September, so you might be right.

Now if he'd hit the corner and BEATEN the keeper, then sure, but... Vardy, Mahrez etc. took far greater skill, but, well, it's Rooney, so
Captain... Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 Love both goals, but I would give it to Vardy as that touch was sublime, from a player that we are more used to seeing smash it home, the delicate accurate both feet off the ground flying lob was a thing of beauty, as was Albrighton's pass. We've seen Mahrez score those types of goals before, doesn't mean it isn't brilliant, but Vardy edges it for rarity value.
foxfanazer Posted 4 December 2017 Posted 4 December 2017 For anyone who has played football you know how technically difficult Vardy’s goal was. To make the run, watch the ball over your shoulder and deftly dink it on the volley over an onrushing goalkeeper is sublime skill
