Three in a row with a “terrible “ back 4 Amartey and Drago coming good. Today was the first without the title winning back 4. Thoughts?

They all did very well ...    it’s all about game time and confidence ...    CP has had a lot to do with this ...    you get the feeling he is really getting somewhere with his training and tactics.   :)

All four were class today. Armartey especially

Apart from fleetwood, when the whole team was poor, I think amartey has been a real plus this season.

Showed again his value to the squad, and agree class today.

I was going to start a thread yesterday saying the same thing (but I'd exceeded my limit).

For all the hassle these guys get and the praise Simmo, Morgan and Fuchs have it's extraordinary that they've put together 3 consecutive clean sheets against a variety of opposition. Long may it continue as this is the way to qualify for Europe.

Barely notice Amartey or Dragovic today which is a huge compliment.

Both assured and comfortable. Morata and Hazard were so quiet.

Drag was spot on , Amartey very good until he has to turn and face his own goal he seems to get a little flustered,

Amartey will continue to come good. More game time will see him improved dramatically. He’s not even being played in his best position.

I believe the the guy is an absolute gem who will do great things for us in time. He needs game time, support and confidence.

As i mentioned in the match thread, it is remarkable that our current back four look more confident and competent on the ball, than our Championship winning back four (love them as i do!!)

He gets all the confidence building he needs from Col.

Chelsea away was impressive

The other 2 were Fleetwood and Huddersfield.  One is a 3rd tier team and the other is turd.

I do think Amartey deserves a bit more respect than he gets on here.

There was one pass he got from Kasper that I thought made him look bad, but actually played him into a tough situation. Amartey was to high up the pitch to play a short pass out to him, so in a way if was too long of short pass by Kasper, so by the time he'd ran back to meet the ball he had a Chelsea player breathing down his neck, and they'd cut off the back pass too. He was never going to do anything with that ball and Kasper should have just launched it. Can't play out from the back every time.

Wes has unfortunately been the issue in the back four... I love him but it’s time to step back, Drago and Maguire work really well together and we’re now 100% better at the back.

Confident and competent maybe but the ‘old’ boys dealt with just about everything thrown at them ..  and put a few away at the other end of the pitch.  Not saying this is not the way forward but the oldies did their job extremely well.  I always think a good ch should be banging in a few goals from set pieces...    or at least getting close !

I'd like to add that Ndidi and James are helping the defence in a similar way to Kanté and Drinks in 2015. It was very nice to see Ndidi outplay Kanté against Chelsea.
