Goodbye, Stoke.

An uninspiring choice of manager for an uninspiring, unattractive club.

If others like Rowett, O'Neil and Sanchez Flores decline the offer, you know you're in serious trouble.

At this rate, the Potters can soon say hello to the Championship.

How on earth do these manager keep getting jobs! Surely they should be looking into the championship they can surely attract someone like Wilder from Sheff Utd.

I see what you mean but Wilder wouldn't swap Sheffield United for Stoke at the moment, the same way Lee Johnson, Gary Rowett etc wouldn't. They'd probably be out of work come May and end up on the conveyor belt with the others.

My Wolves supporting mate says that Lambert went into Wolves and sorted them right out, saved them from relegation, got rid of dead wood and moved them up the table. It may actually not be the worst appointment Stoke could make. Lets face it, they are an unattractive club who have hit a brick wall. They are in desperate need of an injection and if Lambert has the same effect as he did at Wolves then it may be a good appointment when it comes to survival this season. After that though, im not so sure.

Its a good gig for Lambert, Stoke should have enough about them to avoid the drop and he gets a big bonus. Probably sacked this time next year though.

The managerial merry-go-round this year has been ridiculous.

Yep, Puel getting this job wasn't much better at the time.

Interesting, my Wolves supporting mate slates him, reckons he kept them up on luck and the team were frequently booed off, even after winning on occasion.

Stoke, imo, are good enough to survive. They need to stop getting thrashed as frequently for a start lol.

See what you're saying... He's got to get rid of the deadwood but you have to replace that wood aswell.

People like O'neill and Flores have a reputation that could at least potentially  attract players. I'm concerned for Stoke that Lambert doesnt have that going for him...

Think it's a good appointment personally, if it was more like Moyes' deal with West Ham. People forget the utter shit Villa had which he kept up consistently, sorted out Wolves. Hope it goes tits up, but see them staying up comfortably now

yeah I rate Lambert, best out of the rest of the names I saw them linked with.

Lamberts CV, isnt too bad...

I said that city never needed a clear out but a reorg..!!

With Stoke, it needs maybe a bit of both.

1st they need to stay up, so Lambert needs all his squad, then see whos up for the fight.

A bit like Puel start at city.remotivation, rebuild. A player like Crouch could pull them along,

Get them safe, then ride off With fond memories  into the sunset..

Lambert is not the same breed as Pullis/Pullis/big Sam/McClaren variable.

Imo  if he cant save them, they are in trouble...they could tumble. The quality they still have will

flee the nest ASAP....They have a good core, but like the obvious needs are they up for the scrap.

Their problem is their bottom roosting competitors, actually have pl quality, and are all capable

of going on 4-7 game run. This season will see a tough hard fought relegation battle.

Everton, ourselves, Burnley, CPalace, Wham, Will all hold  and earn their Right to stay out of the bottom 5.

Watford, Soton are confusing me, but I presume..only presume!! that they have too much quality, and They

will refind home form that at least should, keep the relegation ogres from the door.

So they are competing with the bottom 7, and maybe, one of the above who still might fall into inconsistency.

Stoke are however needing to find a 6 point deficit, to begin to keep the others at bay..

I dont know if I am seeing it right, and football is about opinions..

Swansea...WBA...Stoke, have a fair core of players, but struggling to compete Brighton, Newcastle, Huddersfield,

Need that extra impulse from within, and a new fresh wind. These are the 6 I see are competing, to stay up.

Bournemouth I actually believe have fight and quality.

Cpalace Wham, could suddenly break down, With that Awkward London arrogance virus, then one of them could

Fall back into problems...I see Hodgson, not allowing his wards even time to think about it...

But it is nice to sit back, and look at it, for the 1st time as a neutral...

Stick £10 on Stoke winning 1-0 tonight with Berahino scoring. Its going to happen

115/1 on Bet 365. Very tempting lol

I have changed my superbru prediction, exactly on that train of thought...

Mind you they could well get walloped 5 or 6 nill....Oh shit Shall I change it again:unsure:

At one point I thought he was one of Britains brightest managers. He did an amazing job at Norwich.

But he hasn't warranted a Premier League job for quite some time and I find it really strange that the same old names keep popping up.

There are clearly some talented young managers out there somewhere, ones who haven't peaked or been given the chance at a big club (and not just the Spanish ones, who are the only ones who regularly appear to get a chance over here). But no club seems willing to do the research to pluck one of these out of relative obscurity.

There are so many ambitionless appointments these days that I just feel sorry for football fans in general. They know their fate for the next 2 years before they've started because their potential is so limited under certain coaches.

Average Championship level manager in my opinion, doesn't deserve another Premier League job based on his recent CV. Club chairmen these days seem to favour managers with experience no matter whether they were successful or not, which is a shame when you look at some of the managers working wonders like Paul Hurst at Shrewsbury who deserve a shot.

Hodgson's appointment, will be proved to be the best....
