Which midfield 2?

182 members have voted

  1. 1. If we accept that 2 of Mahrez, Gray and Albrighton are playing which 2 players would you choose in central midfield?

    • Ndidi and Iborra
    • Ndidi and Silva
    • Ndidi and James
    • Iborra and Silva
    • Iborra and James
    • Silva and James
    • King with anyone
    • someone else (please state).

After watching Silva this month, any answer that doesn't include him would be wrong. IMO

in two games against fleetwood town? one of which he was rubbish in?

he was good tonight and hopefully that’s a sign of things to come but the other three have put in better performances against premier league opponents regularly this season. bit ott.

Means we'd be playing Vardy upfront alone which really doesn't suit him - it's why he plays better when Okazaki is on the side as there's a link player dropping deep, occupying and creating space for him.

Errm..

4-3-3....then you Chose who..

EG:. Mahrez/Vardy/Shinji.....or Mahrez/Vardy/Gray, even. Albrighton/Nacho/Mahrez.

One of Your link players,Would be the ATM...permatations are Open,This ist a new era.

Mr Puels era..!!     Not @wookie's,. Not even @fuchsntf ..

so  still Go for mine...Threesome!!

I know, it even astounds me, how clever and wise I am....

Ndidi with any one of Silva, Iborra or James, long term of course it will be Silva but right now I'm not fussed, we finally have strong options in the centre of midfield again, I have faith in the four of them.

As of right now we don’t know the best combination. Luckily this isn’t a bad thing! Once Silva gets a bit more game time I think I’d be reasonably confident in whoever we put out.

Ndidi is the pick of the bunch though. The worst creatively but literally the best in Europe at what he does.

However, I do think that we could win without him now against bottom 10 teams, so our central midfield after being a right state for so long is now in a healthy position. In fact two big issues from last year, centre back and centre mid have been fixed.

Iborra, N'didi and Silva makes my mouth water. Probably more use against the big boys with Vardy, Mahrez and Gray as a front trio.

I think Okazaki is very useful against the better teams. He disrupts everything coming out from the back and a lot of the deep midfield play.

Ideally, either Silva/Ndidi or Silva/Iborra.

Don‘t like the thought of a three-man midfield. The 4-4-1-1 system works just fine.

I‘d be more concerned with finding another player for the Okazaki role.

Id have to watch them closely in training first ...   after the rain perhaps ..   when the grass is really muddy ...    ;)

Think Suzie would play better with Iborra playing just in front of her?

And Benalouane protecting her back?

Too soon to have a definiitve opinion. My guess would be:

Midfield three  Iborra/Ndidi/Silva with a lone striker (be it Vardy/Slim/Nacho) against against tough opponents.

Midfield two Ndidi/Silva or Silva/Iborra at against deep sitting teams.

Ndidi and Silva, if it has to be 2.

The issue with that is set pieces though- we look so much more assured with Iborra covering the front post.

Maybe Iborra and Ndidi with Silva in a number 10 sort of role?

Potential wise N'didi and Silva look an interesting partnership. One destroyer and one who likes to get forward, Silva does look a little light weight and he's the sort of player who may go missing in a battle. Having said that he's not afraid to go in for tackles or get stuck in, it's just whether he'll physically get bossed a bit too easily in some games.

Come onnn... His glorious non-hoof for Mahrez against United? ?

Ndidi and James for me.

Great dilemma to have though and I'm sure Puel will adjust to suit dependent on opposition. Iborra is useful when defending and attacking set pieces and Silva would work well in a 3 I feel.

and that's why we need a 3 man midfield. ndidi sitting deep and disrupting the play, iborra dictating the tempo of the game and silva to link up with mahrez.

finally we look like a team that can counter attack and keep the ball efficiently (on paper at least)

Is this the best strength in depth in centre midfield the club has ever had?

two prestigious CMs and the best young DM in the world. we have better midfield depth than arsenal and no team outside the top 6 can compete
