Would rather get Smalling in.

Smalling is playing fairly regularly these days, I don't think he will be moving anytime soon.

I'd much prefer to have 3 centre backs that are capable instead of having two decent players and then Benaloune-esque back ups

Also, I think Dragovic is looking half decent because he's playing alongside Harry Maldini. I fear if Harry gets injured it would be a horror show with Morgan and Dragovic. Hence the need for an established centre-half with leadership and quality.

We have several u-23s ready to give CB at the Prem level a shot, and you know Puel wants to give them some run.

And I think the reality is that Maguire is playing better bc he has Dragovic next to him instead of having to cover for Wes. He doesn't have to cover much, but I've noticed it, and even an extra 10-15% of ground to cover periodically means your mind is NEVER solely on your part of the pitch, but constantly keeping Wes' recovery ability in mind.

Playing next to Harry undoubtedly accrues to Drago's benefit as well, but it isn't a 1-way street at all. And Dragovic's accurate deep passing is a skill Harry cannot compete with, which will make us more difficult to press and more of a counterattack threat. Add to that his comfort taking the ball out, I feel like we've suddenly got a well-suited pair of CBs.

But I'm happy to have Evans come over to compete for the starting spot, if he's up for it. Just don't see the need with Huth back, Morgan back shortly, Fuchs available, and then Benny and an u-23 or two.

I have no clue why the club or any fans want to pay £20 +mill on a 30yo player.

How much do you think Vardy is worth again?

Far more to us than anyone with half a brain would pay. But part of it with Evans is we already have 2 defenders the wrong side of 30. 10m more spent on a 24/26yo would be better money spent.

Decent  24-26 year olds for £10m that are available are hard to find though Sylo.

I ment 10m more than whatever the evans fee would be. Not 10m in total.

It’s a shame we didn’t get Sagna in at the start of the season...would of been mags, drags and sags!!

There's always Maggie, saggy, in drag

Doubt her footballing skills are much these days though.

News Now - Transfer Tavern - suggesting we should go for Joe Worrall, just turned 21,  at Forest, as a long-term partner for Harry.

Should we be looking at such players, though, when we have several allegedly- promising CBs already of the same age?

We didn't do so badly with the last CB we pinched from Forest!

Looks like WBA could be open to cashing in on Evans. Signed Gabr who they've been looking at as his replacement and £16m bid for Deeney today when they're very close to FFP limits means they're possibly expecting some cash from somewhere...

I can't be the only one that doesn't get why he's being linked with huge clubs, surely? He's fine, but even a club like ourselves with aspirations of breaking into the top 6 should be looking to buy better than Jonny Evans.

I've wondered and came to the conclusion it's his agent playing silly beggars to try and get one last move. No one top 6 is going to buy him.

English quota. Dependable and professional if called upon.

I think it mainly as he can play it out from the back.

is also a good leader and learned how to defend under Pulis. You are buying the finished article.

Evans is decent and dependable but it just seems a bit mad to me to pay that much money for someone who is 30 and of his ability.

It would be a short term solution at a high premium.

Talk of £30 mill bids in the summer - I can't see them getting anything like that now

30 is not that old. Look at how much Morgan and Huth offered us when they were both past 30.

So $30m (most likely less) for potentially 3-4 years of good service from a proven player at one of the most critical positions on the pitch? Sounds like a bargain. Especially when it's not my money!
