Mahrez wanted to leave since last May. The asking price is £50m. Man City stumped up the Money and the player wants to join them. We should do the honourable thing and let him go. Of course it hurts because he is the best player we have ever had but we can't the raise the price everytime someone comes knocking on the door. On the pitch he's been a great servant to the club but let's now concentrate with the players who want to be here!

The asking price 'was' 50 million and that was on the back of a poor season for him. Puel said himself that if Riyad continues this season in the form he is in then come the summer he would be worth a lot more.

Considering the circumstances aswell such as it is the last day of the transfer window and no time to find or bring in a replacement we would be fools to sell him at the going rate of last May.

Of course we can raise the price when teams come knocking especially when he is in good form and playing some of his best football.

Simple as that. He’s our commodity to do with what we see fit

Sky say Man City made final offer of 65 mill, looks like he’s staying, could you imagine the fall out if he goes for that in the current market

They are also saying the offer includes a player - but who?

In any case, I believe he will be staying. If that proves to be the case, I am more concerned about the fall-out. SSN (and other sources) are suggesting that some of the squad are pretty unimpressed by Riyad's actions in trying to secure a move..........

Very tough one, as we turned down 30 from Roma in the summer. Doubled our money now, Mahrez wants away, its a lot of money to turn down, although i think he is worth at least 75mill. I would like to see us get the 75 at minimum, and then play Gray and give him a real run in the side.

If this is the case with the squad, get anywhere near 80 mill he has to go, will someone pay it, I doubt it, could be an awkward few days for riyad

Good shout! Didn't see the + player too, hopefully it is 65mill and a player. Might be Foden on loan? Mangala is going Everton so It cant be him.

Last post on NBC Sports Transfer Deadline live blog in US says City have have made 4th offer of $92 million + a player.  That can't be true....

$92=£65

The only way this happens, and that is if MCFC actually make a bid that values Mahrez, the same as LCFC do. The amount that LCFC value him at has to be something around £100 million, and until a proper offer comes in, every one else can say what they want to, but its down to the board to put an acceptable value on a player, the purchasing club has to meet that, or there is no deal, simple.

MCFC do not look prepared to make a suitable offer, therefore there's no deal today.

For any fan saying negative things about Mahrez, if you weren't thinking them 2 days ago, but he put the request in, before in the summer, but fans forget when players are special, we all will too.

Mahrez is a p*ick but a very talented football & don’t get me wrong I still love him for everything he’s done for our club. He’s disrespected Puel, the owners and the club & the relationship doesn’t look reparable, we need to play hardball and demand 90 million. I still don’t think a deal will happen unless Ben Arfa/City offer a good player in return.

We need someone who can come in and replace him ideally. If Man City had that kind of player they wouldn't need Mahrez.

Foden is a nice shout though to be fair.

Isn't he out for the rest of the season / one of their biggest prospect? I like the idea but I think we will push for 80-90 and then probably spunk 30 on Townsend

Did we break him in the league cup quarter final? I remember him looking a bit broken at one stage.

The only other person I could imagine is Brahim Diaz. Unless we're somehow bagging someone like Bernardo Silva on loan

To me he is a human being who gave us as supporters the kind of joy that the likes of us (humble leicester fans)  had no right to experience. £50m is enough for a £400k investment. Why are we denying him his big chance?
