How many points in the last 11 matches to make you sold on Puel?

And where were we when he took over ?

Irrelevant. We are where we are now.

If our season tails off that won't leave a good impression.

I do like what Puel had done to our style of play, when thinks are going OK we're very good to watch. Unfortunately, things haven't been going OK for too many games recently. Maybe Puel is writing this season off to experiment with the players he has at his disposal under match conditions, with a view to cracking on to a real challenge for a top 6 place next season. We're not safe by any means yet and given the improved bursts of form from those below us it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we're back into a relegation fight in a few weeks time.

As things stand, I can't see us getting more than 12 points for the last 11 games....but I won't mind that if we get an FA Cup final to go to.

as long as we make it to the summer without any disasters he's done EASILY enough to stay on and get a proper window.

diabate looks a neat find and if he has players in other positions in mind already then for the first time since NP I trust a manager to sign some decent players.

our recruitment has been scatter-gun at best and whilst we've uncovered a couple of decent players it's been mostly ****ing toss.

I have high hopes for this summer as I think Puel has a very specific way he wants us to play and at the moment he's having to make do with what we've got.

For me its not about what he does in the remaining matches in the league. Its what we do in the summer and how we start next season.

However if we win the FA Cup (long shot) or make it into Europe via the league (even longer shot) then my confidence in him will be very high come the end of the season.

I don't think it can be held against him if we don't win the FA Cup. Obviously if we lose this weekend it's different but you can't demand he goes and beats this Man City side and hold it against him if he doesn't.

He absolutely categorically has to play a proper side this weekend. We've no midweek game either side of it. Don't risk it by playing clowns like Benalouane.

Already 100% sold. I like this way of managing. His attempts to actually play football and his attempts to bring through young talent.

Not since Pearson have I been willing to ride through bad times, feeling confident that the manager's methodology will do the club good in the long term.

I like Puel, he has done a lot better than i expected. Work in progress! Has made a few mistakes but no one is perfect.

Looking at the remaining matches i'd like to think we should get around 15 points and finish the season around the 50 mark.

For his 1st season with us i would not be unhappy with that.

We should be aiming to get above 20.  Less than 20 will be disappointing, but I feel pretty well sold on Puel as it is.  I dont see us falling off a cliff for the rest of the season and so far he looks a positive influence on the club

I think we should pull out of this sticky patch we're in over the next few games, good opportunity to go on a little run and things will look rosy again

I'm not sure punishing on the back of his own quick success is particularly fair. I'd be disappointed if we don't finish top 10 now we're here certainly, but a comfortable mid table finish is more than acceptable considering the awful start, the most congested xmas of any team, your star player thowing a hissy fit and trying to change how we play, whilst bringing through and testing young players.

Favourable.

Arsenal and spurs are the only games I'd expect to lose

I think if you take the next 11 games, being 1 point behind 7th and Burnley not winning in 10 games - I would be disappointed not to finish 7th and likely qualifying for Europe.

Obviously we have competition from a couple of other clubs.

In all honesty (got my pessimistic hat on) I think we will get 3-4 wins from that list most. I know that would push us into mid 40's but I can't see us holding on for 7th right now. Although I'd love to be proved wrong.

Stoke - we should be winning this.

Bournemouth - We just can't seem to beat them in the premier league.

West Brom - I can see them frustrating us for a draw.

Arsenal - As much as I'd love to beat them I think the trend will continue.

Brighton - Good at home and improved a lot since the fixture at the start of the season.

Newcastle - If they keep churning out performances like the Man Utd game it cause us issues.

Burnley - this has a 1-0 home win all over it.

Southampton - Hopefully a win here.

Palace - They will have most players back to fitness then you'd assume. Will be tricky.

West Ham - Hoping they are safe by this stage and packed for summer.

Spurs - Would love to do the double. Not sure about this one.

Anyway that being said I hope we win them all and finish on 68 points....

I think most of us would be to some extent - I certainly would be. Especially given we were 7th for a couple games and in spite of Burnley's continued poor form we have not made the position ours.

But like Babylon says, it would still be harsh to just ignore what he's dealt with and the improvements we've seen since he was appointed.

Stoke City H - Win, 3 points.

Bournemouth H - Win, 3 points.

West Brom A - Win, 3 points.

Arsenal H - Loss, 0 points.

Brighton A - Draw, 1 point.

Newcastle H - Win, 3 points.

Burnley A - Loss, 0 points.

Southampton H - Win, 3 points.

Palace A - Draw, 1 point.

West Ham H - Win, 3 points.

Spurs A - Loss, 0 points.

That'd leave us on 55 points and probably enough for 7th.

So if we finished 8th, you wouldn't "be sold on him" as the title of the thread says?

We know as much as anyone, playing teams towards the bottom at this stage of the season is difficult so I expect a couple of disappointing defeats in there somewhere. But that also means teams will need to try and beat us because they'll probably see it as a chance and that's when we're at our best.

I'd like to think we have a chance of being unbeaten at home, Arsenal the obvious difficult one.

At least 11 and hopefully 15 - It would be good to get to 50 points.  End of season games are hard to predict and I don't think too many of the teams we will be playing will have nothing to play for, looks like it's going to be a dogfight to avoid relegation this season.  We on the other hand might lack that extra bit of motivation that desparation gives you if we soon get to over 40 points.

Personally I am not too fussed about getting European football next season,  a period of consolidation and strengthening without all those extra games might be for the best in the long run.
