How many points in the last 11 matches to make you sold on Puel?

Apart from arsenal at home there's no reason why we can't win the other 5 home games. That gives us 15 points and we should have enough to get something at places like burnley, brighton and palace. I think we'll end up on between 52 - 55.

So if we finished 8th, you wouldn't "be sold on him" as the title of the thread says?

I'd be disappointed as it would probably mean our season has tailed off.

If we keep up our PPG so far under Puel we probably finish 7th.

Too many players in the team, let alone the squad, are on a downwards trajectory in terms of what they offer.  Simpson and Fuchs are the obvious ones - age has caught up with them, as it has with Morgan.  Watching Fuchs give chase in that game where the rain was pouring down was painful to watch.  Absolutely painful.  If we want to progress as a team we need to drop the reliance on Championship standard players entirely as well.  We can't afford to carry any in the team.  James has to go.  King has one foot out of the door.  Where Amartey fits in I have no idea, but I still don't rate him either.  How much longer do Vardy and Okazaki have at the top level?  A couple of seasons, no more.

Reading that it all looks a little doom and gloom but I do think Puel has done a decent job with what he's got and the manner in which he's gone about attempting to change the style of play has been good for most of the games.  There are still too many weak performances thrown in, even before turncoats departure and subsequent return, for us to be considered a truly decent team.

If he can iron out the inconsistencies next season, replace older squad members sensibly and look to take a greater control of games on a more regular basis next season, then I'll be happy with that.

For right now, he plays his strongest side against Sheffield Utd, no excuses.  Kasper plays, Maguire and Dragovic play, turncoat plays, Vardy up front.  Play the strongest side possible and go from there.  Put Saturday's disappointment behind us.

I think you meant ****ing bastard turncoat?

For me its not about what he does in the remaining matches in the league. Its what we do in the summer and how we start next season.

However if we win the FA Cup (long shot) or make it into Europe via the league (even longer shot) then my confidence in him will be very high come the end of the season.

How is Europe a longer shot than the FA cup, if winning the FA cup qualifies you for Europe

Arsenal at home is very winnable.

They've won 3 on the road this season? don't have the table to hand but I think its 3

Not saying we will win the game, but its a game id fancy us to take points in.

Unfortunately they are a bogey team which we never seem to get anything against them.

If we dont win the FA Cup is what i meant. Getting in via the league will be nigh on impossible given current form.

Favourable.

Arsenal and spurs are the only games I'd expect to lose

Acually, if we only got two more wins, I would be happy if they were Spurs and Arsenal :)

I'd give the man a full summer and at least 10 games next season first before judging. So far he is working with somebody else's blueprint and doing fine, seems to me as though he has learnt a lot from his Southampton season and we are the beneficiaries of his questionable sacking. He's been an intelligent appointment so far.

It's likely a top 6 side will win the FA cup so 7th will be a European spot.

Which is very achievable

Unfortunately his blueprint is unlikely to involve Mahrez , we need to take that into account. He's losing one of his best players in all likelihood during the summer. I hope he can bring 'qualitee' during the Summer.

Oh right didn't know that. In that case what an incentive.

I'd love to be overly optimistic but we are infuriatingly inconsistent. With tho obvious exception of the title winning year we've been wildly inconsistent since our return to the prem. I'd be amazed if we win all the home games except Arsenal as many seem to be predicting.

Saturday was a case in point. Yes, Man City are an incredible team this season when on song but our defending was nothing short of shocking at times.

I wouldn't be surprised if our average points in the remaining games is slightly higher than for the season thus far btu I wouldn't predict 20 or over with any kind of confidence and think around 16/17 will be  nearer the mark. However, finally winning the FA cup will add the gloss we're all looking for.

I very much want continuity or else our squad will become a mess. For the most part I have liked what I’ve seen as there have been glimpses of an excellent team. Momentum from this season may carry into next season too.

so from our final 11 games i’d hope to see a minimum of five good wins and around 18 points

This. Need a full season with Puel in charge at the very least. We’ve had a hectic few years and just need to settle down

At least 11 and hopefully 15 - It would be good to get to 50 points.  End of season games are hard to predict and I don't think too many of the teams we will be playing will have nothing to play for, looks like it's going to be a dogfight to avoid relegation this season.  We on the other hand might lack that extra bit of motivation that desparation gives you if we soon get to over 40 points.

Personally I am not too fussed about getting European football next season,  a period of consolidation and strengthening without all those extra games might be for the best in the long run.

I'd be disappointed with 15

11 would be bad

If Arsenal at home was literally any other team with that away record we'd be saying it was winnable. With it likely to end up midweek in April too (it's on FA Cup quarter final day) and them likely to still be in the Europa League, we may never get a better chance to beat them.

I think we are more than capable of finishing seventh. Looking at our schedule, with so many winnable home games, I'd expect us to get around 53-56 points and I reckon that would do it. Anything less than 50 would be a disappointment.

Everton got 61 points to finish seventh last season but I don't see us (or anyone else currently outside the top six) getting anywhere near that ....unless we have a 'great escape'-type finish.

and then of course there's the FA Cup, in which we should definitely reach the quarter finals (assuming we play a full strength team on Friday, which to me is an absolute must) and then see who we draw...

from this position with our fixtures left it'd be disappointing not to finish 7th and hopefully not fu ck up in the FA cup (as in if we get through this round and then lose to man city away, fair enough, if we get beaten in another "winnable" cup fixture cos we've rested a whole 11 and not had a shot on goal i'll be pissed).

however even if we continue to ying and yang and finish 9th or 10th i'd be pretty sound with him having a proper crack next year. think from where we were and how the league's panned out it's a bit of a free hit for the rest of the season. don't get relegated was probably the main aim when he was hired a third of the way into the season and we're deffo not going to.

I'm sold on him.

I think he knows what he's doing. There have been some weird subs, but for the most part, I think he's doing a great job. We're in transition, and have looked very impressive at times.

I think we will improve once he starts shaping the team the way he wants. Let's not forget that he's only made one signing so far. I'm looking forward to seeing who he brings in.

Obviously, I would love to see a strong finish to the season. I'll be happy if we finish around 7th and go far in the cup, but I won't be gutted if we don't. Barring a disastrous last 11 games, I've seen enough so far that I think CP should be given the summer to put his stamp on the squad.
