Just now, some guy on R5 Live crying, genuinely tearful,  because Arsenal have lost 4 games in a row and are now out of the race for a CL place and that Spurs are so many points ahead of them. What a bellend.

They need to get real. Football gives no team a divine right to be the best.

Are we bitter or crying because our team isn't doing what we did 2 years ago? We, well, most of us, are football realists.

I have a little bit of sympathy, the cretin shouldn't be crying on the radio but Wenger is the central authoritative figure at Arsenal, everything goes through him and the crippling lack of ambition at the club means he'll stay. They're ran for the shareholders and they're becoming increasingly soulless with players that are completely half arsed. We might moan about our players, some on here don't like Matty James or Simpson but at least you know they're putting in 100%  performances whereas the likes Özil, Bellerin and Xhaka are mercenaries that really couldn't give a ****. They're on the decline and it won't be arrested until Wenger goes and that doesn't look like happening anytime soon.

If Wenger had any decency he'd step down, but despite trying to take the moral high ground he's one of the most despicable managers in the league.

A golden era for us and hopefully more to come yet some on here think we have some sort of divine right to be above where we lie now, here and now we are the biggest club in the Midlands not just the East Midlands and that is some achievement. You take the rough with the smooth or go and follow Celtic as for an Arsenal fan in tears good grief look at some of the garbage we have had to endure over the years. We are so lucky to have the owners we have and they often get taken for granted with a state of the art training facility to come things look good for us but we should never forget where we have come from and take nothing for granted.

The best club yeah but Villa are a comfortably bigger club than us.

Arsenal fans are just realising what following a football team is about for most of us- it is frustrating, disappointing, infuriating. Crap defeats, bad runs, underachievement and failure are a part of virtually every club.

I understand they are pissed off but the hysteria is embarrassing.

Any of our fans start carrying on about things in the way that Arsenal fan did, despite us going through what is relatively speaking a golden era for the club, show them this:

And hopefully, provide some perspective.

But harsh on Mandaric imo.

Yes, the appointment of Holloway couldn't have been a worse one - but he's stabilised the club very well over time and just before he left he promised the fans that the new Thai owners were genuine and that the club would be in safe hands with them.

Can see the media circus around Arsenal, but only mainly because their manager is a long-serving one and now realise that change is quite required nowadays when team morale and results has been low for quite a while.

It's all relative though, we've got fans crying about boring football despite having one of our best Premier League seasons ever. Yeah Arsenal haven't had it horrifically bad but I can't blame when our own fan base is almost as spoilt.

Yeah, can't knock Mandaric for the things you suggest here, but just saying that it wasn't all that long ago that standard-wise things were much, much worse for the club than they are now.

That's not to suggest that fans can't clamour for improvement should things get bad, but just putting things in a little perspective.

Only 2 years ago they were celebrating beating Leicester City with a lap of honour.

It's different expectations, that's all. No team has a right to play in the top flight or win titles though, just because they have done previously.

Arsenal in their history have always had cycles of mediocrity followed by excellence. There was a collection of Arsenal fans brought up when they were very average throughout the 80s and the 89 title victory was a shock to them.

What I find unique to Arsenal fans is the entitlement. Because they are bigger clubs such as Liverpool what recently had to face a few years of pretty average stuff but there was never any airplanes hired or weird internet celebrities or tears on the radio.

Arsenal fans have always been especially removed from reality and the average football fan. I imagine this individual has had a bit to drink as well.

Having said that, they have every right to be absolutely livid. It's not that they're shit, it's that the super rich board members are letting the club make money hand over fist and doing nothing with it. They seem to care nothing about what happens on the pitch and only about profits.

Wenger should have gone years ago because the club is going backwards and the culture at Arsenal is completely wrong. The players are all playboys, taking pictures of each other all day and laughing and joking after losing cup finals and humiliating defeats instead of taking it seriously. That now infamous changing room picture of them after Welbeck scored the winner against us sums their poor atittude up to a t. And does anyone look to change anything? No. Nobody cares.

And it's the same with us. It's not 'spoilt' to demand some entertainment for your money, or for a team to live up to it's potential. I'm a bit sick of watching game after game of us doing nothing until we go behind and then dominating the game all of a sudden. I realise midtable mediocrity is demotivating, but that's all intrinsicly linked to a lack of professionalism and ambition anyway. It's not acceptable to be dull because football is entertainment that people pay for, and it's not acceptable to start putting in the effort only when you start to feel embarrassed because you're losing to some crap side at home.

And comparing it to what was happening 10 years ago has no relevance whatsoever.

So don't cry about it, but don't say it's alright either.

I'm pretty sure we had no money and a load of crap players back then.

So what's our current excuse for being such a negative team when we have such a talented squad? What's our excuse for not trying to score against teams like Stoke and Bournemouth until we're behind?

Does one crap Leicester team, or one crap Leicester owner, or one crap Leicester manager mean no other ones can ever be criticised?

I did clarify somewhat in a subsequent post - "That's not to suggest that fans can't clamour for improvement should things get bad, but just putting things in a little perspective."

Whether what we have now is bad is entirely relative to the observer and to what they're measuring it against - I'm pretty damn frustrated with the lack of drive being shown by the players right now too as they do have more talent in them than they're displaying, and that should be criticised...however, IMO there is such a thing as taking it too far, saying the sky is falling (as that Arsenal fan appears to be doing) without measuring the current standard of the side against the much, much more pronounced dross (in terms of league placement and results rather than effort) we've experienced in the past.

Like I said, ask for 100% (no player should be stepping onto that pitch unless they're going to deliver exactly that) but in all that don't lose sight of where the club is now compared to in living memory and so keep some perspective.

There's people getting slaughtered in Syria every day and that adult male is crying because Arsenal are shit and have been for years.

They have won the FA Cup 3 out of the last 4 years so it's not a total disaster !

Trouble for Arsenal is that when they do lose they're always looking for an excuse rather than trying to learn from it.

Wenger is the master of deflecting blame from his players and now fans seen through it.

Probably doesn't help that Spurs are now a better team!

I’m not so sure about that mate.

We're better than them yeah but in terms of fanbase and history they dwarf us. Currently being better than them doesn't mean we're a bigger club - that'd mean Bournemouth are a bigger club than Villa and Leeds and it's not true at all.
