Instead of a dedicated LCFC train station, which I think is a great idea, how about a tram system in Leicester?

I know it may sound absurd and quite the investment, but I love trams.

It wouldn't be a dedicated LCFC station it would be on what's known as the Ivanhoe/National Forest line which is currently freight only and goes to North West Leicester.

Multiples of three:

  1. 10-15K more seats
  2. Rail seating "ready" area for when the government gets its bloody act together
  3. A second tier added on all around the stadium, with hospitality all around the top and the design kept consistent.
  4. Expand the surface area; make the concourse twice as big with "flat" entry to the vomitoriums, or an open concourse to the tiers
  5. Redesign on the East Stand facia, making it look as good as the West stand.
  6. Improved approach on Raw Dykes Road. Knock down the electricity place and Staples shops opposite.
  7. Pedestrianise RDR & Filbert Way. Make the whole of the normal road accessible during the week but a proper closed off & pleasant public area on matchdays
  8. "Access road" for staff, parking fans & team buses etc.
  9. Extra food/drink/shop facilities everywhere.
  10. Turn the Old Filbert Street site into a fan village, with a scaled down replica of the old stadium that people can watch holograms of classic matches at. This will be part of the fan village.
  11. Statue of Wes & Claudio with the PL trophy, or SOME recognition that it actually happened.
  12. Clear the banks of the River Soar and make it accessible to the public as a beauty spot with food & drink facilities.
  13. Make it easier for us to intimidate the away team bus ala Liverpool.
  14. Monorail to town.
  15. Open Ivanhoe line and make tickets free for match ticket holders

I'm well aware of this, you should have seen the book they created. Henry Winter referred to it in his piece a while ago, but this book basically rewrites our history and says that the club had never survived in the top league, no mention of Pearson whatsoever either. It's one of the reasons I get frustrated with them, sure they've done a good job with the club but to ignore the history of the place is very disappointing, and just demonstrates how egotistical they are and that they do in fact want to create KPFC.

Is the book publically available?

No - it was distributed by the owners.

Nice idea in principle ...   but if it means digging the fookin roads up for the next 5 years, you can stick that idea where the sun don't shine ...   :)

Oh, there's always public transport for you then. Ouch, we're talking England here. :D

Maybe they could create a (new) constant bypass for the car-savvy.

- Expansion of South and East stand (expansion of South stand to be similar of the Yellow Wall at Dortmund)

- Increased supply of Balti pies and staff working on catering so I don't have to queue from 30 mins in the first half to get something to eat and drink to be back in time for 2nd half!!!!

- Cushioned seats

- Pockets to store blankets and sandwiches

- Soft flooring so when I choose to stand for a prolonged period of time my feet don't hurt

- 70ft high statue of Wasilewski

- Fan zone

- Internal bars (seen something similar done at Yankee stadium and looks pretty good)

The more I think about train links the more I think it'd be great. Is there really no way you could have a station at the ground and then trains in the directions of Coalville, Harborough, Melton, Loughborough and Hinckley?

Would be a costy exercise I'd imagine, but surely there's a decent bit of infrastructure there already to make it happen.

It could be done, but would be immensely expensive and probably not economically viable

This article is about a proposed line reopening and new station between Portishead and Bristol and gives some indicative costs, for example:

£4.5million per mile(!) to reopen a single track railway!

The Ivanhoe line already exists as a single track and is used for freight so the cost could be controlled by keeping it single with passing points and having simple stations with just steps like they do in other countries.

There's really no need to go over the top to make it an all singing all dancing commuter route in the first instance.

And its not like the line wouldn't be used. Any sporting event at the ground will be used for, any future concerts. The cost would be outweighed by benefits if its used and applied properly.

Don't really agree with having fans on extra buses from the stadium to the train station.

Post-match traffic is bad as it is.

Buses probably wouldn't harm the traffic. Those people are going to be getting there somehow, either in cars or on foot - both of which clog up the road.

23 days a year usage  probably not going to do well in any business plan.

Catering and pre match goings on could be vastly improved

Any new access across the river south would be good for the town and the stadium I fact I would be happy to open at oll bridge

Getting to and from the stadium needs improvement first and foremost, that includes the parking situation, public transportation (buses, trams, trains).

Leicestershire or at least Leicester as a city could use better/more modern buses, anyway. Continental Europe has some of the best buses in terms of eco-friendliess, inside space and accessibility. Where's the pioneer spirit?

Sort out the concourse situation with regards to queuing - it's usually too chaotic for my liking. I can't tell how viable a lane system is where you're guided to the counter - I guess safety is a concern, so permanent/steel elements aren't an option. It works in the fan store with their movable system, doesn't it?

And the food needs to get better (and if not, at least make it more affordable). It's still a rip-off when you look at the bang for your buck.

Also, consider cooperations with local businesses with regards to food, beverages and the likes - offer local or regional produce, change the menu sometimes, go seasonal occasionally.

I'm not forcing anyone to eat healthier. Burgers, pies and beer are part of the matchday experience and add to the flavour - but FFS, at least mix it up a bit!

A better/smoother entrance system maybe would be nice, somewhat cutting down on the time you need to pass through the turnstiles.

Toilets are usually a mess on matchdays with regards to soap, water and paper towels. And on the mens' side, a bit of trouble getting in, with the entrances usually blocked. And why aren't hand driers an option instead of paper towel, reducing waste in the process?

A museum or Filbert Street remembrance corner.

Add solar panels on the roof? I'd love us to go more "green" in the near future. Tidy up the place around the stadium, new plants, new trees. Look at what Forest Green Rovers are doing with their new stadium, for instance.

All in all, we could be at the forefront of a bigger and better matchday experience, be as welcoming as you can get. Make the King Power and it's immediate surroundings a place where you want to stay a bit longer, not just for the match itself. Come in early, enjoy the scenery, relax, maybe have a chance to sit down outside in a park or similar.

It can work - it's all down to coordinating it properly, together with the city/mayor's office. Make sure buses have their (permanent) extra lane or hold back cars longer - or offer better and more parking options near the stadium, so that it doesn't interfere with public transportation right outside the KP.

You can go a long way with the right amount of planning.
