I'd imagine Mahrez will play on the right/centre.

They play a 4-1-4-1.

Aguero/Jesus up front. Sane on the left. De Bruyne in the middle. Then two of David Silva/Bernardo Silva/Mahrez/Sterling playing central/on the right.

I think so too, but I'd like to see how he does in a more original winger situation

Irrelevant. Still awful club management.

Well it's not, if they included it, it's because he wouldn't sign without one. Would you rather we had passed on Kante?

Poor Leicester, they only have £60m to spend on our player, let's give him them for £30m.... said no team ever

Yeah, you don't even remotely understand what they're saying do you?

Obviously not "we'll reduce the asking price because you haven't got that much to spend", but that they'll see less money there to try and milk us for. If the asking price was originally 25m, it's now 35m rather than going up to 45m. The more you see they have to spend, the more you try and rinse them for...

With Percy reporting this, it's happening.

Man City will report it as a club record fee and Leicester will report it as a club record sale, but neither club will actually reveal how much money was paid, so it will all come down to guesswork really.

End of an era, but wow! What an incredible signing eh? I'm going to go back to the original thread's on Riyad when he signed and reminisce...

So why didn't we do this to Man City then? Their owners are worth 17 billion.

Thanks for sharing that, interesting reading. I think it was also the last time @Col city fan agreed with @Babylon ?

Given that there is no competition for his signing we were probably always going to be hard pressed to get much more than this. I'd hour we have maybe got some clauses around titles, champs league etc to add a touch more.

He's s legend but we have to sell.

I remember his first game against Boro... the one with the storms and advertising boards being blown all over the pitch.

He came on for about 10 minutes, was at the centre of everything and seemed to have much more space than he should have done in tight areas on the touchline. Didn't lose the ball once.

Back then, we would have been over the moon for a top club coming in for one of our players for a big fee. How times (and clubs' mentalities/expectations) change.

Slightly bothered by the reports that we are still keen on buying Roberts for 15m (separate to the Mahrez deal). If we buy him we probably won't be buying any more wingers.

Roberts Diabate Gray Albrighton

And Musa

Could be good. We're not going to get another Mahrez, and maybe the only way to get the youngsters up to speed is to throw them in the deep end, make them responsible, not just side men

You'd think the owners would want a Marquee signing in place of Mahrez leaving though

Can Mahrez do a job on the left? Sané's great usually but f**k me, there are games where you feel like Pep could come out of retirement and offer more in that position.

£60m seems too low, I'd be surprised if that's all.

From the sound of things (Alan Nixon, Percy) it might effectively be £45m + Roberts (£15m) for Mahrez.

That’s a poor deal, paying £15m for Roberts when Elyounoussi could be got for £18m is a head scratcher.

Plus if Roberts comes, will they go for another winger?

Roberts has potential and is very good, he’ll become good and I’d be very happy with him coming in.

Gray - Maddison - Roberts (future england stars ;) )

behind a striker is something I’d be happy with, especially with Diabate, Albrighton and Iheanacho keeping them on there toes.

All young as well. I really like Puel in the way he likes playing younger players. We may well have the youngest side in the league next year and the longer they play together which who knows could be at least eight seasons they’re only going to improve.

Huge pressure though. Fans won't hold back if it turns out they are not good enough. With a young side, that won't end well.

I feel the same way about Sane- at times he's brilliant, and at others incredibly frustrating. Still really young though, so you can expect a bit of inconsistency. He'll be one of the best wingers in the world in 3 years' time.

Mahrez wouldn't be as effective on the left. His greatest strength is that you know he will to cut onto his left foot, but he's so agile and subtle in his movements and has the ball under such close control that it's almost impossible to figure out when. Defenders would show him down the outside on the left & it would greatly reduce his threat.

RM wants a move he does not want to play for City next season.  He will most likely do a repeat of his behaviour of last January if he is not allowed to move thus damaging team morale.  In my opinion his behaviour of last January cost the club a place in Europe.  Furthermore his value is declining simply due to his remaining length of contract diminishing.  Ultimately he could walk away in 2020 for nothing!  The club are doing the right thing.  Get rid of him and build a team and squad who want to play for the team.  Yes RM was amazing in 2015 but his play attitude and behaviour since have left a lot to be desired.  A wasting asset and needs to go.

There's probably been no competition because we haven't exactly said he's for sale, shame the don't announce he's now for sale because i'm sure we'd get bigger offers than £60 million, and it's no skin off our noses wherever he goes.

The whole world knows he’s up for sale I’m hoping now they know Mahrez’s price Barcelona will jump in lol
