Evington Fosse Fox Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 Surprise surprise, Celtic are champions! Good old Brendan Rodgers did okayish when he managed in the premiership and may be tempted to come back (let's face it, Celtic could be managed by Mr Magoo and still be champions for next 20 years as the Scottish league is p@ss poor!) We ain't gonna land a Zidane, Benitez. Any thoughts on Brendan coming in as a replacement for Poo-Hell? 1
Popular Post Greg2607 Posted 29 April 2018 Popular Post Posted 29 April 2018 I think Rodgers would want a top 6 job. I think he believes he is too big for us. 5
Kisnorbo fox Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 Be good to see an English manager take over. Sean dyche would be my favourite, but he will have more to play for by staying at Burnley next season than we can offer him. Eddie howe possibly ?
st albans fox Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 (edited) The forum is going to get very difficult to use if we are going to have a thread for every manager who is possibly going to be linked to us !! Edited 29 April 2018 by st albans fox 2 1

Webbo Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 If he was out of work he might be interested. I can't see him leaving Celtic for us. Not sure I'd want him anyway. 1
cityfanlee23 Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 He's a top manager and deserves a bigger club than us. I'd snap his hand off. 4

Not sure I'd want him anyway. I think most managers could potentially be swayed from Celtic. It's a Mickey mouse league that Celtic are almost guaranteed to walk each season, but there's no money there to buy in real talent to challenge Europe. We however have the money to fight for trophies like the FA cup and try to break down the top 6 and actually build a squad that could atleast compete. Celtic have to rely on good draws to have any hope of European success. You can win loads of trophies at Celtic but none of them are really "earned" in the present state of that league. Just look at Lennon, left Celtic then applied for the Bolton job. He could easily have stayed at Celtic. Edited 29 April 2018 by cityfanlee23
l444ry Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 (edited) Overhyped in my opinion. If he wasn't at Celtic I doubt he'd even be on anyone's radar. Edited 29 April 2018 by l444ry
nnfox Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 I don't think he's as good as people make out. Who was the last Celtic manager that didn't win the league? At Liverpool, he inherited a team with one of the world's best players in Suarez, and a fairly solid squad to boot. Most of the players he signed were flops. People need to realise that our team needs rebuilding. It isn't something that can happen overnight and we need to steer well clear of managers that get success from walking into clubs that have 90% of a great team already in place. 1
st albans fox Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 Someone inside the game once told me that Rogers would ‘lick himself to death’ if he could he has a very high opinion of himself move on ..... 2

Fvck that then we have enough of those sorts (allegedly) in the team
Sharpe's Fox Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 Rodgers has some weird complex where he thinks he’s a world class manager because Suarez dragged Liverpool to second place once. Probably thinks he’s too good for us which is fine by me because we’re too good for him. 2 1
Evington Fosse Fox Posted 29 April 2018 Author Posted 29 April 2018 At least Brendan will not need an interpreter (his English is not like Ras B Nesbit) and would be able to warm up to fans (I have nothing against the French, but struggle with soft spoken Allo Allo).
The Wizard Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 Nah... I think "Roy Rogers" would be a better shout..for those old enough to remember that old Cowboy..yippee ki-ya. Or even that space bloke...erm..what's his name....ah yes... Buck Rogers...!
urban.spaceman Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 Not a bad shout. Brought Swansea up to the Premier League, kept them there and left behind a team that was good enough to survive and play in Europe. Inherited a decent Liverpool side with Suarez in it, challenged for the title and perhaps deserved it. Struggled to move forward after that, especially after Suarez left, tried to rebuild the squad with an impatient board, insane recruiting system and ludicrously high expectations from fans (see how well Klopp is doing after given time). One team league with Celtic but it's at least given him a chance to prove himself and boost his confidence. I wouldn't say no. 1
mozartfox Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 why would he leave the Scottish Pub League? No pressure, no competition and CL football every season (all be it via 18 qualifying rounds). Let’s face it the Celtic Forum is not going to have many moaners is it? If he trolls through FT he will think - nah.
StriderHiryu Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 We won't get him - he's been linked with the Arsenal job and though he won't get it, that's what he will think he should be getting. He's quite often unlikable, but he's a decent or even good manager. Definitely worth a shout for me, the same thing I said when Shakespeare was sacked also. With his age and style of football, he'd be a good one to build a club up over the years.

How about his sister Clodagh? 1
lestajigs Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 You cannot base a manager abilities managing Celtic, an absolutely shocking league, league 2 standards, BUT he has defo proved himself in England, would be a fantastic appointment, but if he’s linked with Arsenal, I have a feeling he will want bigger than us
Leicesterpool Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 (edited) Rodgers no thanks, did a decent job at Swansea but I can't say since then he's been amazing. Liverpool he will was hit and miss through out and now he's managing Celtic who play in a pub league. Edited 29 April 2018 by Leicesterpool
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 29 April 2018 Posted 29 April 2018 Could fit in well here (but NO!) Quote On 1 June 2012, Rodgers was unveiled as the new Liverpool manager on a three-year contract, following the departure of Kenny Dalglish two weeks prior.[43][44] Rodgers' appointment was immediately endorsed by former colleague and Real Madrid manager José Mourinho.[45] In July 2012, Rodgers wrote an open letter to the Swansea City supporters, thanking both the staff and supporters for his time at the club, and wishing them well for the future.[46] 2
