It’s a hollow 9th, Everton have been abysmal and we’re below them.

Their fans aren't happy with the style of football, but I'm pretty sure they were 5th in the form table in the second half of the season before today.

Agree with it being hollow- could have been so much more- but I wouldn't be disappointed if we kept him after the last couple of games. It's like he realised what needed to be done, changed the approach and our players responded.

Approach next season in the same way as our last 2 games with better defenders and we'll be sorted.

Have a day off mate. 9th in the PL is one of the worst seasons in living memory? It's statistically our second best season in 18 years.

We flattered to deceive though!

Start under Shakespeare, we would have snapped their hands off for ninth, and finishing the season only winning 5 out of 20 I think it was.

This is not being a spoilt Leicester fan, glory supporter, as I have followed the club through some of its darker days, over the last nearly 30 years of following, but I can’t help feeling a little disappointed as the season could, and probably should have been so much more, and thinking about another European tour.

Wasn't the prettiest route to 9th but if you had offered me that at the start of the season, or even more, when Shakey left, I would have taken it.  Attack looks potent but defence needs serious fixing over the break. If we don't buy a right back and another CB, people (including me) will be screaming for Puel's head - unless Sam Hughes etc get brought in during preseason and look amazeballs (still need a RB).

Positives from the season are:

  • Hamza looking decent after he came in
  • Harry looks absolute class
  • Riyad turned it on again at the end, so if he does leave, it increased his value
  • Diabate looks a find
  • Silva will be acclimatised and have a full preseason
  • Iheanacho finally looking like the player we paid 25M for
  • Chilwell will hopefully continue to improve

Areas for Improvement:

  • Right back and CB (partner for Harry - what did Dragovic say to not get in the team?!)
  • Replacement for Riyad?
  • Gray - you better step up now, son...

Probably slightly below par.but some of the over reaction on here beggers belief.9th in the premier league and went out in 2 cup matches to Chelsea and Manchester city get a grip work to do in the summer but we'll be fine next season.

9th is good.

Should've been at least 6th if a certain event hadn't happened in January.

I believe being "best of the rest" ie 7th is very realistic year on year. Traditionally Everton wedge their dull ass into that spot, this year with their poor start it was there for the taking. What Burnley have done was unexpected but I would still have liked to finish above Everton to lay down a marker on them and repeat it next time beginning to establish ourselves as a consistent top 7/8 finisher with the respect that comes with that from attracting potential managers and signings.

We dare not stand still, if they sort their s**t out West Ham and Newcastle could be joining us in that ambition, Villa could come up and grow quickly too.

The season was a wasted opportunity because a) Everton started slowly, b) Burnley were the team to beat for 7th and c) our squad contained Mahrez, Ndidi, Maguire, Schmeichel and Vardy which may not be the case in coming years.

The last few days apart we also sacrificed the entertainment level.

To be positive, we still have the great owners, a stadium expansion to come and several good young players.

Forget the PL winning season there is a reason why this 5,000 to 1 title is classed as the biggest sporting upset of all time. We have finished 9th, under MON we punched well above our weight won the league cup twice and had 4 top 10 finishes the highest finish was 8th. We all thought that was as good as it gets with a fight to hang onto players and a manager grinding out results. So finishing 9th with such a poor start and 2 cup QF is by no means the worst season going. Yes plenty of mistakes were made and we could have should have finished higher, gone further in the cups and clinched a Europa league place but we didn't end of. We have owners pumping £80 million into a state of the art academy on a par with anybody's in Europe and have a ground capacity increase looming. We have had big clubs come in to cheery pick our best players and been able to say actually no F you not for sale. Nothing is guaranteed in football and we are entitled to nothing, we have the chance to cement ourselves in as the biggest club in the East Midlands if not in the whole of the midlands in the here and now. Nobody on here knows exactly what Puel's remit was when he came here. If it was to keep us up with a top half finish bringing in younger players and moving on and out older squad members he has made a start. Remember this is a team he inherited playing a different style of football, the core is here and if the club stick with him and they may do we need to get behind the club 100% and see the ins and outs over the next few months

9th in the league, quarter finals of both  the league cup and the fa cup.  I would say is a good season.  Progressing nicely. stadium expansion. great owners with ambition what is not to like.  Some on this board need to get real.

- 7th for goals scored. Only the top 6 scored more. We were well ahead of all the rest.

- 16th for goals conceded. Only Bournemouth, West Ham, Watford & Stoke conceded more than us.

On the face of it that suggests that our attack is fine, but our defence is not. But it's not quite that simple, is it?

Defence certainly needs to be a top priority for summer recruitment and preparation for next season.

But we're also probably going to have to replace our most creative player and second-best goalscorer (Mahrez).

We also have a particular problem with creating chances against packed defences, which we need to sort out.

For me, it highlights how crucial this summer will be for us - though hopefully some players already here will offer more with time to settle in (Silva, Iborra, Iheanacho, Maguire) or greater maturity (Chilwell, Ndidi, Iheanacho, Diabaté, Choudhury).

If we sign 2-3 good defenders & 1-2 good creative players, we could be challenging for Europe next season. If we don't make those signings, we could be in a relegation struggle.

Again, I know it's not quite that simple. Defence, creativity and goalscoring all depend partly on team management, not just the calibre of individual players.....but a few good signings will still be crucial, even with good management.

Well, we must've watched a different match today when it comes to Choudhury playing right-back. Was all over the place on the right and easily fooled & dispossessed.

Our back four today was hampered by a Danny Simpson not fully fit and Morgan not quick enough any more (watch his positioning for Spurs' first goal and the fourth, with Gray trying to fill in at left-back). Fuchs didn't have the greatest of days, either. Unlucky with the deflection for Spurs' second goal.

The attack looked potent - finally again. Makes you wonder where Mahrez was hiding for pretty much ten matches before the Arsenal home game.

Agree with the rest, though.

Great finish! It's have taken that at the beginning of the season. Can't complain.

Aye, I remember thinking survival and some youth players with Shakespeare was all I wanted. I want more than 47 points next season (I'm not sure if this expecting too much without Mahrez) and I do think we should have got 7th but it's hard to complain too much.

Despite everything that's happened this season and the turmoil we seem to perpetually find ourselves in since we won the league, this was still our best finish in 18 years (NOT INC. THE SEASON WE WON THE LEAGUE WHICH I THOUGHT WOULD BE PRETTY ****ING OBVIOUS)

Despite all the disappointment, it's not a bad time to be a Leicester fan in the grand scheme of things. Bring in some fresh blood and we might be back up there. Roll on next season.

(PS this is me trying my best to be positive)

lol lol lol paddy nothings obvious on here lol lol

I still maintain the last day of Jan was the turning point of our season.

We went into a game against Everton with us playing well and then not so.

The Mahrez goes on strike, disrupting the team and we lose that game. Looking at the rest of the season even a draw would have seen us finish 8th.

Without Mahrez we went on to stifle against West Brom and Stoke and get thumped by Man City.

At this point I believe the players gave knew they were safe  and gave up on Europe.

We stopped seeing the quick pressing and counter attacking football.

This is one of the reasons I would like Claude to have one more year, with his own players, no disruptions and let's see what we can do.
