Bayliss impresses me whenever I see Cov on tele but we took Thomas from Cov and he hasn't featured for us, aside from a couple of times on the bench. We seem to buy a lot of these young players who don't play for us and end up going.

Its a revenue stream.  Buy them cheap from lower league/non-league clubs, give them some experience and then hope to make a profit when we re-sell back to championship/Div1 level clubs.

Very doubtful that Gordon, Hughes, Thomas or Iversen will feature regularly for our 1st team in next 2-3 seasons

Bayliss would not feature in our 1st team so not sure what he would gain by playing U23s football when he is currently playing 1st team football in the lower leagues...?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Premier League teams buying and hoarding young (local) talent.

Yeah I've just thought that!

People moan about the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City but most, if not all, PL clubs do it.

Which contradicts "giving them experience" doesn't it?

Thomas, though it is tough to reject a bigger club, would've just won a promotion medal with Cov. He scored in their last win at Wembley last season as they won the JPT. So he'd have played all this season, regular, in league two and now be on the verge of doing the same in League One. Surely that's better than joining a club to play in the U23's?

The only time in recent years where I can recall us making a profit on a player we signed as a "young prospect" is Lawrence.

Just checked Cov's forum (bless them) to see about him and some seem to think they should be asking 5m for him lol 5m for a player that's played half a season in League 2
