Promising first half, worrying second half. For some reason Sterling can't reproduce his Man City form for England.

What point are you trying to make? Southgate knows about Washford too, and Wellbeck.

Whats the point in ‘experimenting’ now anyway? He should know his best side by now and should be playing it.

Point is stop fretting about Vardy's place in the squad based on a couple of backups being run out in a friendly.

I get that, I really do, but Welbeck shouldn’t be in the squad in my humble opinion!

Not disagreeing with that but he's definitely not ahead of Vards in the pecking order.

To be fair at city he has De Bruyne and Silva supplying him and for England he has Dier and Lingard

Oh defo mate, hence I’m not:frantics: but I’m sort of thinking that he should know what Welbeck brings (ie Jack shite) whilst a bit of game time might have done Vardy some good, but it’s irrelevant providing Vardy does come on next time!

It's really not that complicated. He's got two games before the tournament starts to answer any lingering questions he has about his players and to get his sure starters match ready. Vardy is not a sure starter but equally has a very clear role in the squad and it is of limited value to bring him on for 20 minutes in these games.

If he’s ‘got any lingering questions about his players’ at this stage, he’s not very observant. FFS he’s had long enough.

I’d be looking to get my best side (plus first choice subs) playing together now. That would make much more sense. There is literally zero point in bringing on Danny fookin Wellbeck in tonight’s match.

Is there another friendly? Where the first team can get a full game together?

Yes, at Elland Road. I’d have used the two games. Get the ones who will be starting, playing together. It will be interesting to see if Vardy (together with Kane, England’s most natural finisher) does make an appearance Thurs night.

Maguire hasn't started for a while now, I think that back three is Southgate's preferred back 3 which is ridiculous as it's missing the best passer in the side in Maguire. It's also painfully obvious there needs to be pace up front. Sterling provided that 1st half but he's been grossly ineffective for England for 2-3 years and Alli is in heinous form for club and country.

Can we still shit house our way to the quarter finals? Absolutely.

Common sense.  Tbh it's unlikely Vards and Kane will start up top together if we're playing a lone striker so tonight was Kane's game and Thursday will be Vardy's.

IF these final two games are being used to still ‘experiment’ (IMO that would be crazy), Alli should never be starting in the World Cup.

Betcha he does......

Your argument is ‘common sense’.

Aye, ok..

I think people need to get over the fact that Vardy is second choice for England. Jamie Vardy can play as number 9 only. Kane is better than Jamie Vardy and will play as a number 9.

Judging by today he's 4th choice

That second half performance is exactly why we will not progress far in this World Cup.

First half was pretty good, we moved the ball fast having one/two touches along with lots of movement. Second half was the total opposite.

If Vardy doesn't start on Thursday then I was obviously wrong, will you admit you've got it wrong if he does?
