I was going on what the BBC said, tbf, which had Alli in there. Not that that’s an excuse not to pick Vardy, as Nigeria aren’t sitting deep and he’s brilliant regardless (scoring over 20 goals in a negative, bang average team this season that hardly played on the break much).

How else do you explain Drinkwater and Albrighton left at home 2 years ago after being the best players in their position that season? How do you explain Vardy never being picked up front WITH Kane, considering he is at least one of England’s best players? How do you explain Alli never passing to Vardy? Seriously, explain those things.

Surprise surprise, Southgate reverts to type by starting outfield players from the 'big 6' only and a goalkeeper from the 'big 7'!  And that is even with the Liverpool players being unavailable. No wonder people get fed up with England.
