We're playing like a smaller team but with better players. Southgate know we aren't good enough to play expansive football so we're being pragmatic, keeping the ball, defending and playing for set pieces . So far it's working.

We seem to be following the German plan of yesteryear, shithousing through the group stage then gradually getting better in the knockouts, peaking in the final.

 

Started slow but definitely the best performance so far, bar Panama (doesn’t really count), so hopefully onwards and upwards.

We've always accused England teams of the past of playing with fear but not this lot.

I was concerned about the lack of experience and leaders but fair play to em. They've stepped up and that youthful exuberance is shining through.
