IF Maguire went, I'd have Lascelles to replace him without a second thought. Could probably even work a deal to include Slimani, which would be a real plus.

Lascelles fits the team mould well, and I could see him learning a lot from Wes on the training ground - would he have been at Forest at the same time he was there?

I just can't see a mid table premier league club being able to take the best player from another mid table premier league club.

I don't think Newcastle are a mid-table club, they just exceeded expectation last season.

I really think they'll struggle this year.

Genuinely is a better defender than anything we’ve got, I really hope there’s some truth to this

Better than Evans and Maguire ????? Not sure if that's right

I'm not saying he's bad I know he is a good defender but he's hardly in the same category as Evans or maguire.

If take him for sure over Mawson and Gibson but 35m I'd rather just wait until a mass exodus' at Newcastle next year

I don’t think he’s too far off tbh.

If Newcastle are to state their ambitions/intent, which has been debated by their fans for seasons with Mike Ashley at the helm, they would reject any advances for players of his quality.

He's decent enough and perhaps on-par with Evans, but don't think he adds anything more than what the current defence already has.

We're safe regarding Man U. & Maguire then!  :)

A back three of Evans, Maguire and Lascelles

would be delightful!

He’s class. Captain too. Presumably a Maguire replacement more than anything though which worries me. Maguire, Evans and Lascelles would be an immense back line. Two of the three future England defenders surely?

I’ve watched all of them live, he plays like he’s got the experience of a veteran; a real throwback Centrehalf

Ordinarily, yes- you couldn't rule it out with Ashley though. Chuck £30m at him and see what his reaction is.

I'm certain Newcastle would sell if presented with a reasonable offer.

Serious question why do you think that? They are a big club have a big name manager and don't need to sell one of their best players to a direct rival. Would we sell them Vardy of they made a reasonable offer?

Can't see this happening unless for some reason he actually wants to leave.

If/when Maguire goes with the money from that Newcastle are going to want more than 30m for him.

Because it's Newcastle, run by Mike Ashley.

They've no ambition whatsoever and will go nowhere until Ashley goes or starts spending.

They'll sell because it's good for business.

Because Ashley is failing to invest any money in the club. Departures create Newcastle’s transfer budget.

Jamaal’s brother plays for Leicester Riders. Would see him move back home to Derby
